Oakland A’s Maxwell First MLB Player To Kneel During Anthem
Oakland A’s Maxwell First MLB Player To Kneel During Anthem

You want to protest, hit the streets with the rest of the social justice warriors.

Via Helena IR:

Bruce Maxwell of the Oakland Athletics became the first major league baseball player to kneel during the national anthem Saturday, pulling the sport into a polarizing protest movement that has been criticized harshly by President Donald Trump.

Before a home game against the Texas Rangers, Maxwell dropped to a knee just outside Oakland’s dugout, adopting a protest started by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in response to police treatment of blacks. The 26-year-old rookie catcher pressed his right hand against his heart, and teammates stood in a line next to him. Teammate Mark Canha, who is white, put his right hand on one of Maxwell’s shoulders, and the two hugged after the anthem finished.

“Everybody watches sports and so everybody loves sports, so I felt this was the right thing for me to do personally,” Maxwell said.[…]

The Athletics released a statement on Twitter shortly after the anthem, saying they “respect and support all of our players’ constitutional rights and freedom of expression” and “pride ourselves on being inclusive.”

The league also issued a statement: “Major League Baseball has a longstanding tradition of honoring our nation prior to the start of our games. We also respect that each of our players is an individual with his own background, perspectives and opinions. We believe that our game will continue to bring our fans, their communities and our players together.”

Dozens of NFL players for the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars showed a unified front on Sunday and kneeled as the national anthem played during the start of their game in London, defying President Trump’s attacks on the league's athletes.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also announced on "NFL on CBS" his team will not participate in the national anthem before its game Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Perhaps these players and coaches need to examine themselves for defects which caused the POTUS to attack them. There has to be a reason. And the players and coaches themselves are in the best position to name the problem. ;)

Pelosi defends kneeling Kaepernick — despite struggling to say his name

Nancy Pelosi defended unemployed quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s “First Amendment” right to disrespect the American flag during the national anthem, even if she struggled to say his name.

She didn’t criticize the players, who are offending so many Americans.

“Colin Kaeper— Kaeper— Kaepernick, uh, doing what he did, says this flag enables me to do this. This national anthem enables me to do this,” she said, initially struggling to speak.

“This is about freedom of expression,” Pelosi said.

She added Trump’s response is “unfortunate” and believes he was “ill advised” to criticize the anti-American players.

“This is about freedom of expression,” Pelosi said.

What a sorry-ass turn of events when I am thrust into agreement with that trash about anything; however.....she's right - in my book. I've always been irritated when any courtroom bailiff hollers "All rise for the honorable Judge Slick Cornpone !", but government-type people (the law's on their side, not mine) have a lot of power - badges and jail cells and such, so I cravenly stand with all the other docile drones - but it's badly grating. I think the NFL guys are not quite right in their view but it's a view of freedom that should comfort all of us - when we think about it.

Difficult to understand how one might profess total obedience to Christ, yet deny his tenets?

Christ over and over tells to us OBEY those over us, to pray for government.

The "government and society" have decided there are certain social rituals that show allegiance.

I have a friend that is atheist, that does not stop him from standing during the pledge. He lives here, he is a part of the social order that appreciates our society.

‘Get that son of a bitch off the field!’ Trump shocks with blunt advice to spineless NFL team owners

‘Get that son of a b*tch off the field!’ Trump shocks with blunt advice to spineless NFL team owners

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners — when somebody disrespects our flag — to say, ‘Get that son of a b-tch off the field right now! He’s fired,’ ” Trump said. “Some owner is going to do that.”

Trump said NFL players who disrespect the flag are “ruining the game.”

And he’s right: NFL ratings have tanked, coinciding with the protests led by unemployed quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who refuses to stand during the national anthem. Other NFL players have since joined in the protest.

The anti-American demonstrations have had dire consequences on both the National Football League and the networks that carry NFL games. Attendance at this week’s game featuring Kaepernick’s old team, the San Francisco 49ers, showed an almost-empty stadium.

Many fans have started boycotting the NFL in response to players dissing the Star-Spangled Banner.

NASCAR Owners: We Won’t Tolerate Anti-Cop National Anthem Protesters

The Hill reported:

Several NASCAR team owners said Sunday they would not condone racers protesting during the national anthem, amid protests by sports players at football and baseball games.

There were no protests reported during “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series in New Hampshire, according to The Associated Press.

Former NASCAR champion Richard Petty told the AP that any member of his team would be fired if they chose to protest the national anthem. Petty now owns Richard Petty Motorsports.

Steelers Coach Didn’t Want Army Vet To Stand For Anthem

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin indicated Sunday night that he did not want offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva to stand for the national anthem, instead of sitting it out with the rest of his teammates.

Villanueva, a former Army Ranger who served three tours in Afghanistan, was the only Steelers player to stand for the anthem. While Villanueva stood in the tunnel, hand over his heart, the rest of the team remained in the locker room in protest of President Trump’s comments that players who kneel during the national anthem should be fired.

The word "you" is accusatory by nature and should be used wisely.

Having had the opportunity to study and witness first hand the social structures of other countries, what we have here is the best of the lot. Perhaps that has something to do with millions of people around the world, wishing to emigrate to the United States.

There seems to be no mad rush by anyone to LEAVE the United States. Perhaps most are not enlightened enough.

There is one ideal social factor, anyone is free to leave at any time.

This is the shit that populates the D.C. political class !

I have a friend that is atheist, that does not stop him from standing during the pledge. He lives here, he is a part of the social order that appreciates our society.

Cyni, because one is born somewhere shouldn't obligate that person to stand for an unjust and murderous government. I personally disagree with the player's overt display of opposition to the U.S. and its history of brutal bullying and oppression of other peoples and nations as well as its own citizens because it's not the proper forum. But then again, where and when should disgust for one's government properly be demonstrated ?

That being said, Americans have been propagandized in a myriad of ways by damn near every public outlet with the ability to do so. Americans in general have lost their voice and the time has come to rectify the behavior of the U.S. Govt.

If one finds himself/herself unable to honestly proclaim allegiance to an entity such as our very criminal govt, what are they to do ? Should they shoot up a church ?

Like I said, I'm not sure the NFL players are a righteous group of legitimate protestors and the pre-game stand down during the national anthem is the most correct means of addressing a problem that millions of Americans feel needs to be addressed, but it is time to focus attention on the corruption and filth that oozes out from behind that flag.

The conscienceless class of vipers in D.C. are more than happy to kill our children and everyone else's to further their own agendas. They have overthrown governments to benefit corporations, other countries, and their own selves. I'm sick of it and to stand and act as if everything is wonderful is hypocrisy at its zenith.

No...

Consider this from an olde person.

This country IS GOING DOWN, from without or from within. It will not be nice.

I love geo/politics, history and statistics. Right or wrong, good or bad is not determined by any of them. One needs take all three, weigh what is real and make their own determination.

One glaring STATISTICAL FACT is staring us in the face and we wring our hands and bemoan the actions of a self anointed few.

Let them pee into the wind, in public, I care less. However when the heavy hand of government comes for its pound of flesh, they will be the first to go.

Look at the election map in color....White, rural, uneducated, unsophisticated, flag waving, Christian Americans came out, voted and went back to work. Trump saw it, the real government saw it and it struck fear in its heart.

The founding Fathers foresaw the certainty of future abuse of power by the MAJORITY and they were right. Now the majority is working to destroy the very fabric of our life, FROM WITHIN AND IN PUBLIC.

Ya know, economics plays a large part in the American Youth joining the Armed Forces. Young adults wishing to start a family and needing an income to do it are ignorant of the underlying agenda of the ultra wealthy and power hungry elite class that increases their wealth and power at the expense of American taxpayers and the very lives of their children.

Playing the National Anthem, flying tattered flags, and thanking people in perpetuity for their service will never redeem America for drone bombing innocent children around the world.

"The niggers are at a point where they feel strong enough to bite the hand that feeds them. They have no problems showing Whitey just how much they despise him. They are encouraged to do so by a media that hates White America also. The national anthem protest may have started off as a protest against perceived "racism", but it has fully morphed into open hatred for White people. We've opened our homes to these sports franchises and put nigger athletes on a pedestal and act as if their thoughts matter. And we've found out that they are stupid violent savages that contribute nothing of value to society. In fact they ruin society and civilization.

So, it's time for sports obsessed White Americans to put down the remote control, cancel their cable subscriptions, and stop following college and professional sports, as if it matters. It doesn't. It's nothing but a huge waste of time and money. And it's making everyone miserable."

People that watch cars go around in circles for several hours are generally a bunch of hill-jacks, not great thinkers !

I don't particularly care for NASCAR myself, especially since there was a race track near Lebanon when I lived there. The roaring cars kept me awake in the evening when I was running relay for IWX from Springfield to Kingman, AZ. It was midnight leave every week and it was hard to stay awake, but I did it.

I rolled my co-driver out of the bunk in Oklahoma one night because this little box truck had dim tail lights. By the time I realized I could not pass because of traffic, I had to hit the brakes and he rolled out of the bunk. He told me it had happened before. :-O

BTW, I think Richard his the right to tell his employees what type of behavior is not acceptable at the races. ;)

Actually, this all started because Kaepernick stood to make $19 mil on his contract two years ago and SF was getting ready to cut him, so he played the race card, forcing SF to keep him for that last year of his contract. He was offered smaller contracts as a backup by several teams, but he wanted first team money.
