PressTv...

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has announced that US military will remain in Syria indefinitely, spelled out a US plan to advance a political transition in the country, and also called for closer cooperation with Russia to avoid conflict in “de-escalation zones.”

In a speech about the future of the Syrian war -- titled "The Way Forward in Syria" -- at Stanford University in California on Wednesday, Tillerson stated that "let us be clear: the United States will maintain a military presence in Syria, focused on ensuring ISIS cannot re-emerge,” reiterating that there is no place for President Bashar al-Assad in the war-torn country’s future.

According to figures the Pentagon released in December, there are at least 2,000 troops in Syria as well as a diplomatic presence in cities such as Kobani.

“Responsible change may not come as immediately as some hope for, but rather through an incremental process of constitutional reform and UN-supervised elections... But change will come,” he added.

Tillerson elaborated on a US plan to further weaken Syria, already shattered by almost seven years of war, to push for a faster political transition in the country. “We will discourage economic relationships between the Assad regime and any other country... Once Assad is gone from power, the United States will gladly encourage the normalization of economic relationships between Syria and other nations.”

Contrary to the US position, Russia has once and again expressed support for Assad, and criticized the US for seeking “regime change.” Moscow’s envoy to Syria said last month that he saw no reason why Assad “shouldn’t or wouldn’t run for another presidential term.”

Tillerson tried to portray President Donald Trump’s policy toward Syria as something better than President Barack Obama’s approach, calling it better than “more years of wishful thinking.”

Trump administration officials, including Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, had previously disclosed elements of the policy but Tillerson’s speech was meant to formalize and clearly define it.

He also said "diminishing” Iran’s influence in Syria is a key goal for US, noting that “through its position in Syria, Iran is in a stronger position to extend its track record of attacking US interests, allies, and personnel in the region."

Tillerson praised Turkey’s contribution to the fight against Daesh although his speech comes as Turkey has harshly criticized US plans to create an armed force of 30,000 Syrians to maintain security in areas recently freed from the Takfiri terrorists.

According to reports, the force would consist largely of Syrian Kurds affiliated with the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) militants, a group Turkey has long said has ties to insurgents inside Turkey who've been fighting for decades for autonomy for Kurdish areas of southeastern Turkey.

Poster Comment:

[Tatarewicz] Tillerson must cave in to the neocon Deep State as long as the Israeli lobby keeps providing the organizational work and funding to elect a pro-Israel Congress of Democrats and Republicans.

Fleecing Rabbi> Firstly, Syrian airspace needs to be a NO FLY ZONE for all NATO planes which operate illegally. Just a warning shot from SAA or Russians would do it. If Russia is scared then hand over the S-400 and other SAM systems to Hezbollah and SAA who know know how to use them. It is time for an iron fist to expel the US cowards from the region.

Deo Cass.... Iran needs to establish an indefinate military presence in Syria of 2000 troops to counter the US illegal presence in Syria. The Iranains would leave Syria only when or if the Americans will. Until then, Syria should not attend any Geneva conference until the founding pre-requisite of UNSC resolution 2254 which warrants the respect of Syria's sovereignty, independenve and trerritorial integrity, is full respected by the signatory members especially the US.

Fleecing Rabbi> Increase the cost of occupation and see the US morons run, just like Vietnam where Russian weapons won the war. 5000 US aircraft and helicopters shot down.

NO MORE WARS FOR THE JEWS... USA GO HOME YOU are NOT wanted in the Middle East.. USA you are in SYRIA ILLEGALLY. USA, Israel and Saudi Arabia destroyed SYRIA. US spent $7 trillion in the Middle East BOMBING and KILLING MILLIONS of INNOCENT People also Financing TERRORISTS. 4500 TONS of ILLEGAL BANNED DEPLETED URANIUM Bombed in the Middle East. US must spend $7 trillion in the Middle East on Re-Building the Countries they Destroyed. USA is FUNDING ISIS TERRORISTS and supplying Arms and Ammunition to ISIS TERRORISTS. USA GO HOME YOU are NOT wanted in the Middle East..

Tatarewicz... US military presence in Syria is what Israel wants for its security. Tillerson as former head of EXXon knows the importance of administrative loyalty to the boss. His boss is Congress which is loyal to Israel since the latter's lobby helped elect those Democrats and Republicans who pledged loyalty to the Zionist state.

US military presence in Syria

I got an email from a girl who told me she was on joint US/UN mission in Syria. She sent me a picture of her holding a bull pup rifle. I don't recall too much more except she said her team had uncovered a hoard of U.S. Dollars and she needed help to get her share out of the country. I smelled a scam coming on, so I delete the message. It was the right thing to do. ;)
