Russia is nobody’s true ally. 1. Spanish Civil War. Russia robs Spain’s entire treasury of gold, supposedly in exchange for helping Republican Spain defeat the fascists. The “help” was incompetent. The fascists won, but Russia kept the gold.

2. Iran, 1945. Russia was the last occupying country to leave Iran. The bastards wanted to annex Iranian Azarbaijan for themselves, and it was only extreme pressure by Truman that forced Stalin to leave Iran. The Russian occupiers were also quite rude and disrespectful to the locals.

3. Afghanistan. Russia invades a Muslim country for its imperial ambitions, only to pull out and leave ally Najibullah dangling in the wind like a sack of shit. The poor bastard lasted a couple of years but met an ugly death at the hands of Islamic reactionaries.

4. Iran-Iraq War. Russia scandalously supplies Saddam Hussein with weaponry throughout the conflict, even as he deploys chemical weapons against Iranian civilians, not to mention his treatment of his own people.

5. S-300 issue. Russia refuses to honor contract with Iran for S-300 throughout the 2000’s, citing U.N. sanctions, despite the fact that the system was not covered by sanctions as it is purely defensive.

6. Yemen. Russia scurrilously gets Abdullah Saleh and the Republucan Gaurd to switch against the Houthis as a favor to Saudi Arabia, dealing a serious blow to anti-Saudi efforts there. As of now, Hodeidah is in grave danger, despite the bravery of the Houthis.

7. Syria. Russia cedes Syrian territory to the Turks, so that Turks will buy their weapons. Was Syria asked if it agrees to Turk occupation. The Turks could have been fought and defeated convincingly at Afrin, but Russia’s business interests come first. There were Iranian units ready to push the Turks out, but now the filthy swine are entrenched on Syrian soil.

Do you trust Russia? +15

Perhaps it's a fair argument.... provided the same conclusion is made for the USA....

Short but outstanding, Taterewicz. Finally somebody's saying the unsayable on this crucial topic! No, I don't trust Russia which is why I'm the last man on earth seriously (non-tactically) condemning its grab of Crimea. Don't trust "former" KGB guy Putin either.

Honestly I hate Russia except for the very few there who've ever dared go against the grain alcohol. I'm sure it was tyrannical and rapacious before the "Russian" revolution and it's highly suspect since the (very welcome) fall of the Wall. its culture is morbid -- all that minor-key music, all that gloom and fatalism generally.

USA! USA! USA! Bringing you democracy, or else! there were strains of VD that were incurable, and they were first found in the Philippines and then transmitted to the Korean working girls via US military. The 'incurables' we were told were first taken back to a military hospital in the Philippines to quietly die. – 4um

It is. We're the other USSR in addition to enjoying the distinction of being the next South Africa. Ever hear the old quote "we should make every effort to so alter life in the United States as to make possible a comfortable merger with the Soviet Union".....
