Good commentary, Luke.

I never knew what, exactly, caused his and Alex's falling out. Clash of personalities/egos, or something else...who knows? Only they.

They hope that you're confused enough to vote for the Democrat&Republican Party again.

When McCain and Obama were in the race in 2008, both were members of Council on Foreign Relations. Both were internationalists. I voted for Ron Paul since he was on the ballot in Missouri. He was clearly the best choice and stood for my values.

However, my sister in Chicago told me she had voted Democrat her whole life, but she could not vote for Obama. She voted for McCain. I told her, "You still voted for evil since both candidates were members of Council on Foreign Relations and BOTH were internationalists. It must be nice to own both horses in a 2 horse race. ;)

A hyphen in your posted link path got misplaced at the end, so it only displays a 404 message of no route found for this article on the ICANN topic:

The U.S. government no longer controls the internet - Business Insider, Oct. 4, 2016 [with a 1 minute YouTube included there]

Excerpts:

Saturday, October 1, marked a historic day for the internet. The U.S. government finally handed over control of the world wide web's "phonebook" to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) after almost 20 years of transition. The ICANN, a nonprofit organization composed of stakeholders from government organizations, members of private companies, and internet users from all over the world, now has direct control over the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA), the body that manages the web's domain name system (DNS).

Prior to the handover, ICANN already managed IANA, but the U.S. Department of Commerce, through the U.S. National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA), had ultimate authority over any decisions that ICANN made. This meant that the U.S. government could overrule any resolution made by the latter.

In a press release, ICANN Board Chair Stephen D. Crocker said, "This transition was envisioned 18 years ago, yet it was the tireless work of the global Internet community, which drafted the final proposal, that made this a reality. This community validated the multistakeholder model of Internet governance. ...

The move has heavy political implications since the internet's registry system is no longer under U.S. government control.

The Trump administration announced a fair housing discrimination complaint against social media giant Facebook on Friday, saying the way the company targets ads can be used to screen out people based on race, sex or other protected categories.

The complaint goes to the heart of Facebook’s business model, which depends on being able to offer advertisers micro-targeting.

Facebook mines extensive user data and classifies its users based on protected characteristics. Facebook’s ad targeting tools then invite advertisers to express unlawful preferences by suggesting discriminatory options,” the Housing and Urban Development Department said in the complaint.

Among those options are physical disabilities, parents with children and even religious practices — advertisers are allowed to show their ads only to people Facebook deems interested in “Jesus” or the “Christian Church,” for example.

Those practices could violate the Civil Rights Act, HUD said in the complaint, dated August 13.

The government had begun an investigation in 2016 after learning that Facebook allowed people running ads to narrow down those who can see their advertising based on protected categories.

Facebook didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment, but has previously said its policies tell advertisers not to discriminate. The company also insisted it had safeguards to stop advertisers from selecting based on race or ethnicity.

One sided conversations are without merit. Debate requires both sides of the equation an equal opportunity to espouse their position. In the instant matter of Bill Maher supporting Alex Jones' right to speak only Bill gets to state anything while Alex Jones is left out of the conversation. (What about equal time ?) Many of these social media outlets are becoming propaganda platforms for one sided agenda driven conversations.

The social media platform has become the prominent means of stating an opinion or belief that has morphed into more of a town hall than a private club.

There should be a solution that makes a forum available to any and all points of view. If legislation becomes the vehicle for getting this done I am for it if the legislation allows for free speech.

Americans have been able to differ on any number of issues but have generally agreed to share free speech !

Some comments at the article:

"As the leftist do their normal ranting and screaming of 'Trump!!!!!', would one of them care to tell me who was president in 2016 again?" [Hint: not Trump]

"Are you saying it is OK that Obama was investigating FB for the same thing, but it is bad when Trump does?"

Unless you'd like to answer those 2 questions for us, I'm gonna have to vote "No" on changing the topic to "Trump, HUD and the Waivering-Left's Gifting of Privileged Immunity from the Civil Rights Act for the Technocracy." Oddly enough, a websearch of the PIAPS acronym returned with something of more definitive relevance (possibly) to the selective-censorship detour here re: the HUD controversy, other than her wardrobe of Pants Suits:

PIAPs: Public Internet Access Points (PIAPs) and Their Social Impact

Excerpts from 2 study-Abstracts about the nations of Turkey and Australia @ tandfonline.com:

Behaviour & Information Technology

Building public Internet access points (PIAPs) is a significant contribution of governments towards achieving an information society. While many developing countries are investing great amounts to establish PIAPs today, people may not use PIAPs effectively. Yet, the successful implementation of PIAPs is the result of citizens' acceptance to use this opportunity.

There is increasing evidence that the lack of access to information and communication technology (ICT) or the ‘digital divide’ severely limits education, employment and economic prospects. This paper reports on the evaluation of a project that aims to bridge the digital divide.

Being a part of the digital divide in the twentieth century disconnects you from a part of your world that now exists for others.

Excerpt from 4um Title: Facebook "Mistakenly" Censors Conservative Education Company For "Hate Speech Violations" (Prager U)

On Saturday, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey admitted to CNN's Brian Stelter that Twitter employees have "more left-leaning" bias, though he claims the San Francisco, CA company operates in a neutral manner.

"We need to constantly show that we are not adding our own bias, which I fully admit is...is more left-leaning," said Dorsey.

Dorsey's CNN appearance was the latest stop in Twitter's rehabilitation road-show after evidence emerged that they had been "shadow banning" conservative users through a variety of methods; including hiding tweets from followers and hiding conservative users from search results.

And while Silicon Valley social media companies and their defenders may argue that "it's a private platform, if you don't like it, start your own Twitter," - journalist Tim Pool points out the flaw in that logic:

... the public square ... [is being handed over] ... to private companies.

These companies can now decide who gets to participate in political debate.

This is where most people debate and share ideas and now we have no right to the public discussion.

This is where I part ways with the "but it's a private entity" folks. Some little cuck leftist in a dim room, or worse, a BOT can arbitrarily put an entire company or organization under with NO RECOURSE.

And they're also rigging America's midterm elections for the Left's benefit, I would say. I'd add, too, that what's occurring nearly unreported is yet another "Privatization" heist by the mega-monied of America's tax-invested national infrastructure development.

Could you please try to edit down the dimensions of that video to a more standard range of iframe width="560" height="315"? If so, tia. That adjustment may keep it from spilling over the right margin and moving written text offscreen. It's difficult to read while having to scroll back and forth or after reducing the text size to squint-mode as maybe an alternative measure (but doesn't always eliminate the scrolling problem).

Yes and it displays there directly as usual, in standard-sized format, but here the video displays as bigger and overrunning the right border of the post; which also makes written text sprawl across that edgeline throughout the thread on my screen and for quite some distance in places. I thought it might have something to do with the dimensions of the video being altered automatically somehow during the transfer-process from YouTube to the board through a cellphone device, perhaps. It's not a problem specific to BTP's video particularly or this thread, even though it is the only video in this thread that appears giantlike. The same has happened with other posted videos, chart graphics and such -- more than a few and more often lately than I'd estimate as an average monthly-rate. Could be that my computer isn't upgraded enough. Thanks for your helpfulness. :)

Right-clicked on the Roger Stone video-screen to copy the code for a comparison check with the standard range and there is a substantial discrepancy, for some reason, that exceeds what I thought was the default-setting zone of 4um's rightward-margin (in the perspective-scale vicinity of 350 to 700 or so but less than 800, iirc, for best presentations of practicality and without any shapeshifting of the architecture). I don't know how the endocded vid-resizing was done or why it wouldn't be as problematically noticeable opticswise on other computers but am mentioning this in case anyone would like to inspect the dimensions of the video code they are about to post or edit it, for netiquette purposes or as a structural conservatorship effort, etc.
