The White House said Wednesday President Trump wrote a letter of introduction for Republican Sen. Rand Paul to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Kentucky senator touted the letter earlier Wednesday morning, saying he was “honored to deliver a letter from President Trump to President Vladimir Putin’s administration.”

The White House later clarified that it was written as a means of introduction for the senator, who wanted to meet with Mr. Putin.

“At Senator Paul’s request, President Trump provided a letter of introduction. In the letter, the President mentioned topics of interest that Senator Paul wanted to discuss with President Putin,” deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley said in a statement to pool reporters.

Mr. Paul shared that the letter promoted Mr. Trump’s desire to work with Russia on “countering terrorism, enhancing legislative dialogue and resuming cultural exchanges.”

Let's hope this helps to break the ice with Putin who insists that Russia is for Russians.

After all, Russia and the U.S. had great relations under the Tsars. Abe Lincoln had a good Ambassador there during the Civil War. When the British were considering entering the war on the side of the South, he convinced Tsar Alexander to send the Russian Navy to New York Harbor and San Francisco Bay. When the British saw this they changed their minds about entering the war. ;)

From the link:

But now it’s becoming a thing because the Left has been trying to meme it into reality to justify Hillary’s loss in the election. So the meme-energy is warping and starting to create a more positive Russian connection with conservatism.

This can only be a good thing. Since Putin, the old KGB analyst, really has conservative viewpoints on most things, at least to the best of my knowledge.

And who would have ever thought that Russia would ever be back under the old Russian tri-color flag of the Imperial Tsars? ;)
