A mission using Flechette rockets(rockets filled with nails), followed up by an explination and a test run using the Flechettes.

I knew a guy in Illinois who was in the invasion of Cambodia. He always carried extra frags. At night they would camp off the trail and set up Claymore mines along the trail. One time an NVA patrol came thru. The guy on the switch for the Claymores was asleep. He just started throwing frags. He was awarded a South Vietnamese medal for killing Communists but he never picked it up.

I saw a demonstration many years ago on the firing range. They had one or two plywood boards set out in front of a tank with its 105 mm main gun aimed at it. They had about 60 balloons inflated and stapled to the target. It was to simulate many enemy troops about to attack and possibly overrun a unit's position.

The range was 100 yds. or thereabouts. The tank fired the beehive round with flechettes toward it. In an instant all the balloons were 'killed'.

Some things are seared in my memory.

Man, I'm sounding like BTP Holdings, not that that's a bad thing mind you.
