By initiating an attack on the Syrian province of Latakia, home to the Russia- operated Khmeimim Air Base, Israel, France and the United States certainly understood they were flirting with disaster. Yet they went ahead with the operation anyways.

On the pretext that Iran was preparing to deliver a shipment of weapon production systems to Hezbollah in Lebanon, Israeli F-16s, backed by French missile launches in the Mediterranean, destroyed what is alleged to have been a Syrian Army ammunition depot.

All of this goes back to the British and French Mandates that were imposed on the Middle East at the end of WW II.

Syria was a part of the French Mandate and this explains their involvement today. It seems they cannot let go of the past.

Part of the British Mandate was Palestine. And this goes back further still to WW I and the Balfour Declaration which promised the Jews a homeland in Palestine.

If you recall further, Hitler wanted to send the Jews to Madagascar, a lush tropical island off the east coast of Africa. But the Jews did not want to hear that. They wanted to go to Palestine.

This, then, brought about The Transfer Agreement. The Jews could go to Palestine, but they had to leave their personal wealth behind. It is obvious if they had gone to Madagascar, they would have had their wealth to build infrastructure.

It has always been about the money. ;)

Moscow will certainly be asking their Israeli partners if it is justifiable to subject Russian servicemen to unacceptable levels of danger, up to and including death, in order to defend Israeli interests. It remains to be seen if the two sides can find, through the fog of war, an honest method for bringing an end to the Syria conflict, which would go far at relieving Israel’s concerns of Iranian influence in the region.

Although the following article is from 2012, it still depicts an accurate picture of how the Iranians view the existence of Israel. ;)
