Ok I went to see the new movie "V is for Vendetta" tonight. I have to say that I thought the movie would be good. It is the type of movie that I enjoy. Kind of 1984ish. The movie met my expectations, it did not let me down. The story is of a man who wants to change his country through violent acts. He calls himself V and wears a mask throughout the movie. He wants to bring down the British Parliment building in order to bring about a revolution. I guess some would call him a terrorist. He was more like a revolutionary to my way of thinking. You see in the movie the government was tyrannical, kind of like the world we live in today. There were many references in the movie to things that are happening in our world. This is not a spoiler so I will leave out the details. I would reccomend that all you liberty loving people go out and see this movie. Take your family and friends with you. There are things in this movie that could help wake up the sleeping. You know the ones who don't know what is going on in this country and world. So go out and enjoy the movie, even if your not the type that usually goes out to see movies. A K A Stone

I'm not much of a movie reviewer. Just thought I would post a quick one.

The definition of a terrorist is defined by the one inserting the lable. I get dvd's. I would love to see Unintended Consequences made into a movie. Now thats a message for the masses.

Must be why all the FReepers were so steadfast in their condemnation of this film.

Thanks for an impartial review, Stone.

I'll go see it this weekend.

Unintended Consequences

I could have swore I heard of a movie called that before. Maybe not. So it is a book that is worth reading huh. Maybe I'll have to go out and get it sometime.

If this movie had come out while Clinton was President. It would be another story. They would have been loving it. Those freeptards blow with the wind.

Those freeptards blow with the wind.

Most of what they discuss so lengthily is irrelevant. JimRob wanted sycophants and that's what he's got.

One of my favorite books of all time...I literally sat on the edge of the bed reading much of it.

From a Freeper about the movie:

Jesus Christ! Did you read the frickin' article? Did you read that the message of the movie has been changed, perverted, and even replaced to reflect AND UNDERMINE the current war on terror? Did you read the Abu-Ghirab references? The Koran garbage? Can you put 2 and 2 togehter? Or do you need to watch the movie 23 times and give hundreds of dollars to hellywood before you say to yourself "Hey! I done think this movie is liberal propaganda!"

I hope you enjoy this garbage. Please tell us how it goes on opening night. We know you and the other stuck-in-the-media-matrix-sheeple who are so desperate for entertainment and so cock-sure of the movie's "libertarian" message will be more than happy to tell us we were completely off base, which I am sure we are...

Thanks, Stone, good job. I've been looking forward to seeing V for some time, and can't wait to see it!!! I'll post back with my own comments when I do. Even if it's not that good, I'm still thrilled to see a movie that addresses current political issues in a very serious and challenging way. We need MORE of this.

I am looking forward to seeing it this weekend. I made the mistake of leaving the radio on a certain station that carries Glen Beck. Switched from CD to radio to listen to what I hoped would be ESPN Radio and Beck was on. This was Wednesday and he was ripping V to shreds. Talked about how it exalted terrorism and how a film like this really should not be allowed to be shown. Needless to say, the station was quickly changed. He must really be threatened by a movie like this. Why else the need for the hysterics?

What other recourse does one have when facing tyranny and all other peaceful options exhausted?

So does the movie have any relation to the TV series "V", where Earth is under fascist rule by space aliens who look like us but are really lizards under their fake skins?

Out FOXed

I was interested to read in Antonia Fraser's book about the Gunpowder Plot, Faith and Treason, that the leading organizer of the Guy Fawkes conspiracy, Robert Catesby, studied at my Oxford college, Worcester College, when it was still called Gloucester Hall.

They never told us about him when I was studying there.

No. But I liked that series.

Thanks for the review. I haven't seen this one, but I hope to. A good book to read that reminds you of today is "The Prometheus Deception" by Robert Ludlum. I read it a couple of years ago and I swear I could have been reading the news.

Wow...and I thought Beck was one of the more rational neo-con mouthpieces.

Republicans and conservatives are making damn fools of themselves over the movie. For Pete's sake; it's based on a frickin' COMIC BOOK written back during the REAGAN administration by a British author who was all wound up over the "tyrannical" rule of Margaret Thatcher. Don't blame Hollywood for this one, folks...

Thanks for the review S - I am going to make the effort to see the film soon, as I do not have confidence it will be around long.

A real shame to have to think that way, no?
