Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Republican Rep. Liz Cheney exchanged barbs about how well they understand the Constitution.

The argument started when Cheney, the House Republican Conference chairwoman, sent out a mocking tweet after Ocasio-Cortez said they had to amend the Constitution to make sure that Franklin Delano Roosevelt did not get reelected.

“We knew the Democrats let dead people vote,” Cheney wrote. “According to @AOC, they can run for President, too.

Ocasio-Cortez shot back with a tweet of her own, saying "Hey Rep. Cheney, I see from your dead people comment that you get your news from Facebook memes, but the National Constitution Center + Newsweek are just two of many places where you can clarify your misunderstanding of the history of the 22nd Amendment."

Cheney continued the argument by sending another tweet that included a link to an educational "School House Rock" video on the Constitution.

"I know you’re busy so I thought this short video would be helpful to introduce you to the basics of the Constitution," she said. "If you’re still trying to figure out how a bill becomes a law, they have a great video on that, too."

Roosevelt died in 1945 and the 22nd Amendment, which set term limits for president, was approved in 1947.

But The Hill pointed out that the legislative process for the amendment began in 1944, prior to Roosevelt's death, and was started due to the fact that he was the first president to serve more than two terms.
