Rep. Maxine Waters: Blacks Who Voted for Trump “Can’t be Forgiven”
Rep. Maxine Waters, who seems to fancy herself as the matriarch of the entire black community, has made it clear that she will never forgive any black voters who dared to cross the political aisle and vote for President Donald Trump.
The California lawmaker’s comments come as news outlets throughout the nation have found that a growing number of black voters voted for the current president even though the Democrat presidential candidate selected a black running mate.
It’s important to note that this isn’t a one-time event. While former President Barack Obama was immensely successful in turning out the black vote in favor of his party, the number of black Democrat voters has dwindled since former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton ran in 2016. Statistics show that the GOP is gaining support from young black people — black men in particular — thanks to President Trump’s criminal justice reform efforts and pre-COVID-19 economic successes.
Rep. Waters’ comments haven’t gotten much attention from a national media that is entirely focused on the outcome of the Presidential election. However, they’re sure to rile select black Americans. Several months ago, former VP Joe Biden told a black radio host that blacks who don’t vote for him “ain’t black,” a blatant insult that assumed that any person of color would, or should, vote solely for the Democrat party.

The Republican National Convention featured a number of black speakers and the current President has announced a plan to help black business owners get back on their feet.
In times past, it was safe to say that the overwhelming majority of blacks voted Democrat. While this is still the case, the numbers are shifting. For many black voters, the candidate of choice is President Trump.
Black Americans, like all Americans, have the right to choose their political beliefs without being publicly shamed and harassed. This is something the supposed “party of tolerance” has yet to comprehend. Instead of working to earn back voters who are disillusioned with Democrat policies, Democrat politicians seem to think that shaming voters will win them future elections. The move could not be more misguided.
