Underground activists branded the Blade Runners have been targeting newly installed ULEZ cameras that capture drivers in high-emission automobiles throughout London. Under Mayor Sadiq Khan's controversial Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) plans individuals will £12.50 per day to drive in Greater London beginning August 29th, unless their vehicles meet certain environmental criteria.
The Mayor's initiative has faced significant opposition, resulting in the formation of groups that aim to sabotage the cameras that are being installed throughout London.
Speaking to MailOnline, a member of one such group stated that they intend to remove every single camera, regardless of the cost.
The man, who is in his mid-forties and a father, has claimed to have personally stolen 34 Ulez cameras and asserted that his group, along with other similar groups, have taken down hundreds of cameras.
He explained that they use various techniques such as cutting, hammering, painting, disabling, unbolting, and snipping the cameras.
