Two parents in Lake County, Fla., were arrested after their children were found living in a filthy home without running water, according to a Local 6 News report.
Police arrested Christine Foels and her fiancée Christopher Curran after receiving an anonymous call from a neighbor about their filthy home. The pair was living in the home with two girls, ages 5 and 4 months.
"Investigators with the Department of Children and Families said the conditions were more than disturbing," Local 6 reporter Louis Bolden said. "They said it was criminal."
Officers said a refrigerator inside the home was filled with rotting food. Also, the house has not had running water in more than a month, so the toilets were filled with feces.
"They bathed in a pond that was in the back of the property," Lake County sheriff's Sgt. Christine Mysinger said.
The baby's crib was also used as a trash bin, the report said.
Foels said her family is just going through some financial problems. She said she has not done anything wrong.
"I don't deserve this," Foels said. "I didn't do anything wrong. I'm not a bad mother. I'm doing everything they are asking me to do and now I'm here."
Foels and Curran are being held in the Lake County Jail on $5,000 bond.

personally - I don't feel good about government taking kids away from parents. kids typically go into foster home system and it is in itself an abusive thing to do to the kids. even in a dirty home kids are almost always better off with parents.
look at the money spent bashing the parents. does that help the kids? perhaps the money should be spent helping the parents.
perhaps we should think about how over-valued US dollar pushing down wages if we care about children. over-valued US dollar helps rich people, but it destroys wages for the poor and middle income because it makes a situation where no domestic industry can compete with foreign based competitors due to the over-valuation of our currency. how humanitarian are we when we do that to our poor people? And then take their children.

Could be an exception here:

State and court records show that Curran is a registered sex offender in Lake County. Before Monday, he was on probation after being convicted last month for sexual battery with a child younger than 16 -- not Foels' daughters.

But otherwise, I agree.

I have to disagree, Red. As someone who grew up with serious family problems (alcoholic father, mentally ill mother), I usually strongly feel that children should be taken from their families, whether it's to be in foster care, adopted or placed in orphanages. I had the opportunity to be adopted a couple of times and the agencies ended up putting me back with my family. BIG mistake, and something I have always regretted. They weren't bad people, or abusive - just neglectful and sick. I actually preferred the orphanage I was in for a while. I just hate to see abusive or neglectful people get these poor little kids back - it usually means the kids will have little or no chance at life.
Which reminds me - we need to bring back orphanages. It's just so much better than much of what passes for foster care out there, and I think they've just gotten a unnecessarily bad rap. Yeah it sucks not to have a family, but it sucks more to have an abusive or neglectful one.

Bingo, it has gone from a country where Frank Capra's "It's a wonderful Life celebrates us bring out the best in each other to a country with what I all the 'America's Most Wanted' syndrome.
We suspect and fear each other and live to take each other out, or at least teach each other a damn lesson for having offended, scared, or pissed us off.
It is revolting to watch the spectacle of this sort being covered in the news.
This have become a country where well to do kids go out and beat up and even kill the homeless out of a sense that they are morally and even biologically inferior to them, who live in nice houses, have video cell phones and drive nice, large SUVs.
Thank you for your post, you hit the nail right on the head with it. In many ways, the true sickos live next door to these folks.

I'm not sure the mom's so bad here -- though she sure can pick 'em.
Other reports:

"I'm a clean freak," Foels said Wednesday during an interview at the Lake County Jail. "I bleach everything."
The house did have bugs, "but it was clean," Foels said.
Foels said the house had no running water, but she blamed that on her landlord, who she said didn't address her complaints about the lack of water.
"They just caught us at a bad time," she said.
The landlord could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Foels said she and her boyfriend of nine years were trying to find another place to live when the state Department of Children & Families began investigating in June.
Meanwhile, the family was pulling buckets of water from the lake to flush the toilets, she said.
Investigators did not find any evidence that the girls had been physically abused, but they did remove Foels' daughters because of the living conditions and put them in foster care.

"I'm a clean freak. I clean that house all the time," she said.
Foals, along with boyfriend Christopher Curran, were arrested on a warrant for child abuse. In June, a DCF investigator found holes kicked in the walls, feces in the toilets, prescription pills on the floor and no running water. The investigator added that Foals even bathed her children in a nearby lake.

Not sure I'd trust that source.

"We weren't taking baths in the lake. We were going to the neighbors' houses and taking baths," Foals said.
She explained the house was in disarray because she was just released from the hospital for an ear infection.
"They had just got there maybe half an hour after I got back from the hospital," she said.
Sergeant Christie Mysinger said the water was not on for about a month.
"We would never want people think we would arrest them for being poor or low in finances. That's not the case here. This case is of failure to provide a safe environment for children," Mysinger said.
Foals said she had asked her landlord to fix the water pump time and time again, but it was never fixed.
"We were in the process of moving out that Friday, with Chris' paycheck and my paycheck, but I guess were weren't out of there fast enough," she said.

It's always "for the children." I'm sure the children are now psychologically traumatized for the rest of their lives having been forcefully removed from their parent as mom was led away in handcuffs.

Which reminds me - we need to bring back orphanages. It's just so much better than much of what passes for foster care out there, and I think they've just gotten a unnecessarily bad rap. Yeah it sucks not to have a family, but it sucks more to have an abusive or neglectful one.

I am sorry to learn of your childhood.
BigBrother couldn't make any $$$ from private, church-run, children's homes; so they had to go.
For most of her working career, my mother taught HomeEc at a christian children's home where the vast majority of the kids were not orphans, but were either unwanted by their parents, or the legal system gave them "one last chance" to get it together before going to jail. The home was trying to do right by the kids - not for the money, not to drug'em up, not to let them get into the prison system, but to give them the attention, care, and mostly love, that was missing from their lives.

As a landlord, I will tell you that anytime a prospective tenant ever utters the words, "I'm clean." they will not occupy my units.
Think about it - how often have you ever told anyone, for any reason (sex excepted), "I'm clean?"
I haven't watched the video, but I'm betting that this poor creature is a pig- stye dweller from way back - it's prolly what she grew up in.

That child was last seen when someone came saying she was with Child Services, and was taking Rilya for a "psychiatric evaluation". They supposedly didn't notice her missing until 15 months later, even though they are required by law to check in with the child monthly. One social worker who discovered it, was threatened to keep quiet. I hate to think where that child ended up. I fear she may have ended up in the same ho$pice Terri Schiavo was murdered in, and possibly murdered for her organs. This would not be unfeasible with the Bush Nazi Family. Terri's husband said "Adults are not the only people in hospice." Kids without families could easily be disappeared in a place like Florida, where the Bushes rule. The Florida Statutes regarding this are NOT comforting, particularly when one sees their outcome in the Terri Schiavo case. ---------------------------------

As for me, you take the cards you're dealt and do the best you can. My parents were good people, but poor and sick. My father never recovered from his terrible WW2 experience and my mother just had a very difficult background. But they did the best they could.

"Ashleigh Danielle Abbott, 5, moved to the Broward County facility for mentally disturbed children on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001. Any future access to her father is in the hands of defendants in the father's federal lawsuit.
Ashleigh's move comes 2 days after her father submitted to his court-appointed attorney a motion for a stay of execution, pending appeal, of a judge's Jan. 30 order -- and 2 days before that attorney finally filed the motion.

The Florida Department of Children and Families and its accomplices, including the Office of the Guardian ad Litem, have thus succeeded in essentially terminating the father's parental rights without affording him the due process of a termination of rights trial.

The father, Paul Scott Abbott, is appealing the ruling that placed Ashleigh in the facility and also is appealing two earlier rulings by another of the 15 judges to have been on the case since Ashleigh was seized from him nearly 3 years ago. Those rulings, of last fall, determined Ashleigh to be a dependent of the state despite the lack of any sufficient evidence against the father and set forth a "case plan" of impossible hurdles for the father.

DCF, acting through the Office of the Attorney General, and the Guardian ad Litem attorney have succeeded in barring the appeals from proceeding because they are contending that the father, declared indigent by a prior judge, does not qualify for indigency and therefore is not entitled to transcripts needed to pursue the appeals.

DCF has taken the position that Ashleigh should be moved in in about 6 months with her mentally ill, child-abuser mother, despite testimony from the mother's own therapist that she is not well enough to raise the child who the father had singlehandedly brought up since infancy.

Ashleigh is now at the Therapeutic Living Center (TLC) in Wilton Manors, where a "treatment team" of people being sued by the father has unilateral right to determine any future access of the father to his daughter.
One month later, in March 2001, the same "treatment team" decided to cancel the child's supervised 6th birthday party, a party she had been looking forward to. Birthday cards were sent from around the state; it is not known whether she received them.

Nearly two years after leaving his job as chief of the Department of Children and Families' Broward outpost, Robert Pappas is blasting his former boss, calling Kathleen Kearney's administration ``destructive and potentially a political time bomb.''
Pappas, 62, wrote in a letter to Gov. Jeb Bush that he was "compelled to express concern for the state of child welfare'' efforts in Florida.
"The hysterical atmosphere in DCF, though not created, has been fostered and nourished by Secretary Kearney,'' Pappas wrote in one of two letters.
Pappas retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a colonel and worked as an administrator with the state Comptroller's Office before joining Children and Families.
``In more than 40 years of public service, I have never served in a more dysfunctional organization, in particular in ***** an atmosphere that employs Nazi methods, with informers, back-door processes, and exclusionary tactics,'' he wrote. ``I would have hoped that Secretary Kearney would clean up that situation; unfortunately, it appears to be her chosen mode of doing business.''
The governor's office, which did not reply to either of the letters, did not return a call from The Herald for comment.
Children and Families administrators say they remain committed to their mission, ``to ensure the safety and well-being of our state's most vulnerable.''
``Mr. Robert Pappas is a former acting administrator who is entitled to his opinion,'' Deputy Secretary Bob Cohen wrote in a prepared statement. ``The reality is the district is improving in spite of the challenges we face daily in child welfare.
``Rest assured, the strong leadership selected to go into District 10 has the ability provide the guidance and accountability needed to continue the momentum in the district,'' Cohen said.
Pappas said Friday that he joined the department in Broward as a favor to Cohen, who also is a retired Marine. The two had worked together in the office of Comptroller Bob Milligan. Pappas bristles at the suggestion he wrote the letters because Kearney declined to name him permanent Broward administrator.
``I really didn't want the job to begin with,'' Pappas said. ``I went down there to help a brother Marine.''
In his letters, the second of which was dated Thursday, Pappas focused his sights on Kearney's administration -- but he also took aim at the department's policy toward abused and neglected children, arguing that the department is too quick to remove such children from their homes.
The question of whether some foster children could be better served by remaining with their parents -- with some services, such as parenting classes, anger management training or even financial support -- has plagued the agency in recent years.
Richard Wexler, who heads the National Coalition for Child Protection Reform, has released two scathing reports on the state's child protection efforts in which he argues that a ``panic'' has gripped the state, leading to thousands of unwarranted removals of children.
In his letter, Pappas endorsed many of Wexler's claims -- a situation department officials, who scorned Wexler's reports, undoubtedly found galling.
``Since the beginning of Secretary Kearney's tenure, the status of child welfare has not improved, and, is regressing,'' Pappas wrote.

After the state illegally seized Ashleigh she received therapy for parental separation. The state then billed the US government beaucoup bucks, and socked it to them again when the child was put in a mental facility and treated for "toe walking!"
Initially, it remained unknown if she received counselling for the sexual molestation inflicted upon her, a crime Paul discovered only by reading newspaper accounts. What he learned was that she has not received counselling for that experience, but is in therapy for the trauma of being molested by her father, an act that ever happened!
Information about his daughter's well being was consistently withheld. Paul learned DCF "therapists" cancelled his daughter's 6th birthday party just hours before it was scheduled to begin.
And never mind the thousands and thousands squandered in court costs when DCF'ers lined the rows. Where'd the moola for that come from? ...."

There is a father in Oregon fighting the same battle, as are many others. This is a NATIONAL problem. From his website:

Then fostered or adopted to homosexual or otherwise perverted couples or singles ? Has the Children's Service Agencies produced pornographic videos using your child as the Star ? Has your child been used in other pedophilic / pornographic endeavers ? According to the latest statistics from the Oregon Law Commission there are 33,000 children incarerated in foster homes and by the OregonYouth Authority. (kiddie jails ? ) This doesn't take into consideration the children imprisoned by charge stacking, ( Measure 11) or by plea bargins compelled under duress.
All "Plea Bargains" are compelled and are unConstitutional and are crimes against the citizen by the state. The federally funded "parenting classes", drug and alcohol rehabilitation projects, anger management classes are all compelled contracts. Plea bargins are compelled by Administrative threat to strip one of their Constitutional Rights, parental rights, visitation "priviledges', property rights ect, ect.? The State threatens to stack the charges, under Measure 11 (or otherwise) unless you go for their "deal" ! Your Attorney (a member of the State Bar, State licensed, Bar insured and often State paid ) tells you "take the plea, plead guilty, ( even if you haven't done any of those things alledged) because if you don't the State ( Prosecuter ) will stack the charges and give you 20 years!" --- But if you will just go for this deal (services) they will lower the allegations to a lesser crime and then I can get you off with a lot less" ! All attorneys are Traitors if they belong to the Bar because they are given a title of Nobility. ( Esquire ) Are we at War ? Are not our children incarcerated ? ***** A child is worth $90,000 to the childen' service agencys in Federal funding with a " maxed out" funding stream. All plea bargains are TREASON !

We call it "practiced and polished methods of deception" in court. The courts have been protecting this child services agency for years and it runs the courts financially on federal money through the Adoption Safe Families Act. This funding stream is one of their most lucrative, manipulating a the systemic FRAUD, exploiting unlawful seizure of children and cover up of child abuse once the children are taken. Usually NO ONE charged with a crime - all manipulation of process in every case to work all sides for profit to the courts, the agency and the state/feds. Ultimate goal of the scheme is to control everyone from pre birth to after death, the state owning and managing everything.
We have in our own discovery all of the same elements of the systemic child abuse KNOWINGLY going on with this agency - FOR YEARS - in our own case there are two teenagers who blatantly lied under oath and then their lies all came out in court - reports over and over of the DA going in with Melissa before court and talking to her about 'daddy sex and vaginas" - police, teachers, foster people - therapists, counselors, investigators, attorneys - every day some adult talking to Melissa "ABOUT WHAT YOUR DAD DID TO YOU" while the first year and all the tests showed her DAD did NOTHING to her and in court in the records she kept telling them how her dad never abused here but these other people DID, and nothing to this day has happened to any of the criminals or the state actors. In the Records it it all there that the state and many foster homes raped her, burned her, molested and terrorized her, sexual abuse - all this admitted - we have at least one of these criminal foster homes just like Ward Weaver - in our papers they are writing how the Shanna and Ionis Aldis foster home knowingly have children in a home where criminals are and abuse for years and they are also a day care center.... and an infant in the paper died in that home two years ago - who knows whose baby they killed and that is covered up along with the rest.....

When we go into court the DA's put their heads on the table, Lunch - they have been doing this for five years now, not one word of dispute to these very facts, everything I am telling you is court record over and over.....
We have to go to the bottom of this fetid cesspool now, starting with Kithzhaber..... in l993 the Maine Study told the Legislature all of these frauds, and the "recommendations" were never implemented. I am looking at a legislative record page from l995 that says all these problems exist violating the children and families, yet Kitzhaber and the National Federal Socialist agenda has been full speed ahead, with a goal to make us conform.
Adm. Bobby Mink (vermin !) has been in there for years, a real smooth operator with Kay Toran and all the others.... the previous manager who he replaced, Gary Weeks, was just sent to Casey Foster Child Company, to be their national outreach coordinator - whereas our problem is multi million dollar industry here, Casey is a BILLION dollar foster child industry, and the first to start the Big Brother sodomite on a vulnerable child, state robot on every family programs.
Right now Portland has put an initiative on the ballot for money for "child services" and this is the same abusers that are described here, the unbelievable number of these groups - Liberty House, Raphael House, Family Friends, Trillium Services, CARES NW, Parry Center, Donald(?) Long Center, the Eugene Old Mills School and Home Farm, there are all kinds of these centers, with all these phony names. They are going for the private public partnerships now, and soon will be getting federal money for church based "armies of compassion" all the people sucking off the federal tit more than ever with LESS oversight than ever.
The big ones are building the same low income housing as Ashley Pond lived in - sometimes we see this when the families are already all involved in taking services (housing, medical, drug abuse and therapy, family counseling, sex therapy, all kinds of "services" that are NOT voluntary - then a lot of those get to keep their children !!!
Whereas any of us who stand up to the lies and say so in court do NOT get our children no matter what, and they write "uncooperative" and then that is a reason in itself in the paperwork to keep the children and abusing them.
YOU SEE IT IS REALLY ONLY ABOUT MONEY NO MATTER WHAT PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE DOING .... THE POND FAMILY WAS MAKING A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE STATE - THE DAD, LIVING IN SUBSIDIZED HOUSING, COOPERATING WITH THEIR SERVICES CONTRACTS

THE JUDGES CALL THIS MAKING THE SYSTEM WORK AND WE ROUTINELY SEE PROVEN ABUSIVE FATHERS IN COURT GET FULL CUSTODY BECAUSE THEY MAKE MORE MONEY AND COMPLY WITH ALL THE PROGRAMS, SUPPORT ENFORCEMENT, SERVICES, WHATEVER THEY ARE TOLD TO DO - THE MOM STANDS THERE SCREAMING T HAT THE MAN IS ABUSING THE CHILD, THERE IS EVIDENCE EVEN PHOTOGRAPHS, IN CASES WE HAVE SEEN.
THEY MAKE THE MOM TAKE A MENTAL EVAL WITH THEIR DOCTORS AND SHE ALWAYS IS "BI POLAR", "PERSONALITY DISORDER", "BONDED TOO MUCH WITH THE CHILDREN', 'MENTALLY UNSTABLE' AND SHE LOSES THE CHILDREN.
Another point with this right now is these children that are being murdered in foster homes - we have said for years that you won't hear of foster home abuse in the news unless there is a body, and even then not a lot of the time.
But if people and reporters would note, the articles rarely SAY "adoptive parents" or "foster parents" they write "parents". It is real deceptive, and meant to be. The main thing is these children are being murdered in "therapy" and by foster people terrorizing the children as they are told to do by the caseworkers and counselors!!! We have in our own discovery how Hazel Spees made the child pornography of Melissa [NOTE: the Gaston's daughter] for Larry Lawson, the caseworker! When she gave it to him and he refused to write a letter to protect her, she says in her notes, that she sat down and wrote this long confession that we later got through the Attorney Generals Office two years later and reports that Melissa now shows evidence of rape now that these years of abuse have passed..
Here is the point - the are removing the babies routinely off the breast no crime charged!!! Then they are subjecting the children to terrorism and mind wipe by robots and sodomites with practices - I heard in one trial where they were doing this to a three year old who was upset after getting visits with his real mom and then yanked from her - the response of the court was "then the visits with the mom must end and the adoptive resource protected at all time" - we heard this first hand !!!! Then they took all three children from the mom - we heard NO CRIME in the two day trial against this young mother.
So they CREATE the "attachment disorder" by severing the bond at birth, then destroy the child to conform it to the system - they call this in their words "render adoptable" and if they can't force the children to "bond" or ""pretend to bond" with these perverts they are placed with, often as slaves and sex slaves to the foster people, then they are institutionalized . In Salem RIGHT NOW the commissioners just passed a plan for the juvenile child prisoners to build retail stores and the income is going to build a new prison..... all child slave labor with federal grants and state interests, through the collusion of state and fed and private public partnerships...... using the children to do this is what they call "sustainable Oregon" and having the adults under mandatory sentencing in Kevin Mannix created Independent Prison System, they make the products for the sustainable - 80 % non violent "offenders" and "violators" and support enforcement debtors. 80% is also the percentage we learned are cases of the state taking children from their parents and then making them pay the state.... You HAVE to read the rest of this. It is so shocking, I couldn't print it. And this is what is going on all over the country, but we seldom hear about it because the perps control the media. Pamela Gaston ended up dying. She was only around 50 years old. The state of Oregon had so devastated the Gaston family in their attempt to get their daughter back, that they didn't have the money to see a doctor when Pamela came down with pneumonia. Less than a hundred dollars worth of antibiotics would have saved her. She died shortly before Christmas.

This is why when I see these stories, I don't always believe the media side of it. Sure some parents are abusive, and the kids need to be put in proper homes. But the states, particularly Florida and Oregon, have a very sadistic and abusive track record. Child "Welfare" is an extortion and child abuse racket. And I never miss an opportunity to open some eyes to more of the evil that is being perpetrated by our so-called government right under our noses on a daily basis. Maybe there is SOMEONE out there who has the knowledge and power to reign these creatures in, and save more kids from their devasting and evil agenda.
