Ross Perot had HUNDRES OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS and he got 20% of the vote.

According to wiki Perot was actually leading both Bush and Clinton in the polls, but Perot damaged his popularity by the way he performed in the debates.

The opposite is true for Dr. Paul. He performs quite well in the debates ( when given a chance to speak) and his popularity surges thereafter.

I personally think that Perot through the election personally. He was leading both repubs & demos as you say, and then he self-destructed for some reason. I don't know if that was the plan from the beginning or if he was persuaded to do it.

but 2 incidents cause me to think this. First, he held this bizarre press conference where he said that the republicans were trying to destroy his daughter's wedding. he said there were republican spies at this wedding, and the way he spoke, it was paranoid & insane. Second, I think his performance in debates after that was purposely intended to make him look bad.

I remember GHW Bush in a debate against Clinton in 1992 checking his watch in an exaggerated manner and pacing back & forth like a fool. the tv was focusing on that. I think he was helping Clinton to win.

Paul is IMHO not a part of the ruling clique's apparatus. But I still agree with Itsalmosttoolate, that he doesn't really stand a chance. They'll kill him before he gets in if he does somehow win. But they've got election fraud systems with the voting machines. They've got the mass media to smear him. they've got so many ways of taking him down.

I still think it's fun to support Paul though.

Good analysis, Red, it seems only a world war or a Wall Street crash will bring dowm the puppet masters behind the curtain.

Ron Paul ought to watch his back, or he might pull a Ross Perot if his family is threatened.

Ron Paul wouldn't do that. He has too much integrity. He would expose the bastards that threatened his family to the world. Ron Paul almost seems too good to be true, that's what worries me about him. Who the heck is that perfect?
