Sarah Palin, Republican Vice-Presidential Nominee, Plugs Romney, Paul — But Not McCain — In MTV Interview Published by MTV News on Friday, August 29, 2008 at 1:58 pm.

Back in February, on Super Tuesday, MTV News Street Teamer Dani Carlson did a Flixwagon interview with Alaska Governor — and now presumptive Republican vice-presidential candidate — Sarah Palin, who had some interesting things to say about energy policy and the “party machinery.”

In this interview, Palin calls controversial Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul “cool.” “He’s a good guy,” she added. “He’s so independent. He’s independent of the party machine. I’m like, ‘Right on, so am I.’ ”

Check out Dani Carlson’s video interview with Gov. Sarah Palin after the jump!

So what's she doing getting chummy and on a ticket with somebody who is Ron Paul's exact opposite on every single issue?

That's a good question. How could someone who likes Ron Paul, who is supposedly on the same page, run with someone who is almost the exact opposite of Ron? Doesn't make sense.

For a lot of people, the mass media persona is more important than the reality.

McCain was sold by the media as a "maverick," and a lot of independent voters hopped aboard his Double Talk Express bandwagon. Maybe Palin bought into the MSM image of McCain the "maverick" and "independent" and can't tell the difference between that and the genuine article.

[W]hat's she doing getting chummy and on a ticket with somebody who is Ron Paul's exact opposite on every single issue?

Would you have her turn down this chance to replace McNutcase when he keels over? On what principle? It's ironic that a Ron Paul Republican might soon preside over the U.S. Senate.

The reasons Governor Palin is a good choice keep coming in: "[I]t is time to embrace our sovereignty,” she told Reuters in an interview a few months ago... She is also an avid hunter and angler...staunchly opposed to gun control. She has irked environmentalists by opposing the listing of the polar bear as a threatened species and is a big supporter of oil and gas drilling off the Alaska coast.

I wonder if she voted for and supported Ron Paul in the primaries. I also wonder if she opposes the "war on terror," "Patriot Act," and so on.

I doubt it. If she did, Mad Mac's PNAC handlers would treat her as radioactive and not let him go anywhere near her. Chances are, she's one of those people who likes McCain for his phony "independent maverick" image, and can't tell the difference between that and a genuine article like Ron Paul.

It's like I told the folks here who took the bait...if she were half as wonderful as her fans here think she is, McCain would want nothing to do with her.

She's probably on board with the whole BS "war on terror" agenda like most of the rest of her party. Her talk about being "independent" and fighting the "political machine" have the same credibility as Mad Mac's fake "maverick" image.

Can't vote for McCain no matter who he gets to run with him. "Ain't going there, wouldn't be prudent." Chuck Baldwin would have gotten my vote if the Constitution Party had made the ballot here but since write in votes don't count here--which is a fact they have admitted to--I don't have anyone to vote for this year.

I hope that she thinks she might make a difference for the better. She will never do that as long as McCain is alive though. Now if he keeled over the day after the election leaving her at the top of the ticket she very well could make some difference.

If she is there she can't do anything for the country so long as McCain is alive.

Not stupid? No, I don't think she is stupid and she may well be ready for the big show. But I have to wonder about anyone who would accept the offer from McCain because anyone who has paid any attention should know that he is about as un-American as Obama is. It would have been a splendid thing if Ron had gotten the nomination and if Ron chose her as his running mate I could be enthusiastic. But I can't be all that enthused about anyone who would run with McCain.

Have you done NO research about what she's done in AK?

She polls 80 - 90 percent approval ratings up there - she must be making a 'difference for the better' for the residents there.

Clinton had a sky high approval rating in Arkansas, and McCain's pretty popular in AZ. Doesn't mean I think they're worth spit.

Have you done NO research about what she's done in AK?

When your research reveals that she's just another neocon who wants to keep fighting Bush's "war on terror," will that change your mind, or are you just sold on a pretty smile? For example, this quote from her acceptance speech:

Mrs. Palin, the "Ron Paul Independent":

In a dangerous world, it is John McCain who will lead America’s friends and allies in preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

"It was John McCain who cautioned long ago about the harm that Russian aggression could do to Georgia and to other small democratic neighbors and to the world oil markets. It was Senator McCain who refused to hedge his support for our troops in Iraq, regardless of the political costs."

Vomit.

NOT necessarily.

Think about it. The Dems make history by nominating the first black candidate from a major party.

That tied McCain's hand. He had to find a woman and one with *some* executive experience to counterbalance the "Let's make history!" of the Obama campaign.

Try finding one of those. You won't ... on the Republican side of the aisle.

Besides, the VP has zilch power. This is to get the Hillary Clinton voters.

"A leader, for a change." - Jimmy Carter, 1976 campaign slogan. Sound familiar? Here it comes again!

McCain will never live long enough to ever see any vote from me. Same with Obama and all other establishment whores. I like Ron Paul and supported him while he was running, even voted for him back in '88 when he ran on the Libertarian ticket. I like Chuck Baldwin too but they make it so hard to get on the ballot that most good people never get an opportunity. I wish Ron had gotten the nomination because I could have gladly voted for him. But I can't vote for McCain or Obama because I still have to live with myself the next day.

She's a player, alright. Too bad it ain't a game.

Why are you so mopey and grumbly about Palin? Sheesh! You have been making snide comments about her all day. Are you an Obama-Biden voter or something? Or are you a McCain supporter who thinks he could have done better than Palin? What's your problem with Palin as VP? It's not like McCain is God's gift to America and now he's picked an inferior who will bring him down and hold him back.

McCain is a IsraelFirster warhawk who is a shameless leftie on social issues and shamnesty. McCain's a RINO par excellence. He even contemplated crossing the aisle and joining the Dems after he lost out to Junior for the 2000 GOP Pres election.

Obama is an Affirmative Action baby, an intellectually shallow empty suit, an inexperienced political candidate who is a for real re-distribution of wealth Marxist. He'd guns and butter America to death and with all his talk about the "obligation" of young America to do National Service, read between the lines why don't you - Obama is not allergic to the idea of Conscription, which is fedgov slavery of males ages 18-26.

Obama has picked Biden who is every bit a warhawk like McCain and he's a plagiarist - what does that tell you about Biden's personal ethics, he's capable of doing anything even stealing ideas and selling them as his own - because he has no original ideas.

So Palin is not the worst of the 3 Pres/VP candidates before us. She's no Ron Paul but so what - there's no one like Ron Paul on America's political landscape.

I don't understand your personal upset with Palin frankly. What did you expect from McCain's VP pick - Jesus Christ?

Neither McCain nor Obama are good for America - they're both terrible. But at least you might have some fun speculating on the strategy of McCain vs Obama instead of taking this Palin pick so hard, it's like the cat ate your breakfast or something.

I got bad news for you - the Pres election year has become a game - a game of egos jostling one another for power on Capitol Hill - there's nothing good in it for America. The best America can hope for is gridlock so the dupes sent to the WH are check-mated by the opposing dupe party holding the majority in Congress. End of story.

The voters have already made their choice for more war, more big government. If 130 million Americans stayed home, the politicians just MIGHT get a hint that the jig is up.

As we speak, this government and the people in control are far ahead of Iraq and planning on far greater schemes. World War Two in hindsight will look like a minor skirmish.

Actually it is a show. A carefully planned and thought out show. The elite don't like surprises. If Sara is a surprise pick for them then McCain will lose in landslide. Sometimes I even wonder if Paul was part of the show. I hope not, but I am not even 100% sure about him.
