A FEW WEEKS AGO, I was pleasantly surprised to be offered an opportunity to review an advance copy of Attorney Edgar Steele’s new book, Defensive Racism. I thought at the time that it might be something worthwhile. I can now say without hesitation that I was not disappointed. Like a fine steak, the more of his book I consumed, the better I felt, relishing every morsel it contained. Perhaps, there is one minor problem with his book, which I’ll mention at the conclusion of this review; but, putting it aside, as it should be, it’s certainly a book well worth reading.

Some may be concerned about the name of his book. After all, people -- Whites, in particular -- are undoubtedly preconditioned to froth at the mouth and turn beet red when they hear that R-word--"Racism"; that’s the typical knee-jerk reaction that we’ve been taught by our “educators,” if we can call them that. And for someone to dare to use such a “terrible” word in the title itself -- and then not to condemn it -- well, it’s just not politically correct; people are supposed to condemn such works out-of-hand, without even giving them consideration, for daring to use such a word. However, if you do that, you’ll be missing an interesting perspective on the present state of America’s affairs.

So, what exactly is “Defensive Racism”? And how can someone “defend” Racism -- what many people would like you to believe is indefensible (at least, indefensible for Whites). It’s not quite as bad (or good, depending on your views) as you might think. Steele defines Defensive Racism as something oblivious to hate; he removes the emotion-laden propaganda behind the word and looks at current events and the long-term consequences of our present course. While his detractors will certainly argue differently, I think Steele doesn’t have an ounce of hate in his body -- just an understanding of how things currently work.

To better understand what Defensive Racism truly is, take into consideration how Steele himself defines it and compares it to what he calls “Offensive Racism,” which he opposes:

“Consider the difference between offensive racism, such as seeking to expel Blacks, and defensive racism, as exemplified by opposing affirmative action.

“Offensive racism implies superiority; defensive racism assumes equality.

“Offensive racism seeks genocide; defensive racism seeks self-survival.

“Offensive racism would be lynching a Black man for spitting on the sidewalk. Defensive racism is moving to where no Blacks live.

“Offensive racism might seek to exterminate Jews; defensive racism merely opposes the Jewish incursion into White society and its desire to eradicate Christianity.

“Offensive racism might seek to conquer Mexico and subjugate its citizens; defensive racism merely opposes the flood of illegal immigration into America.”

Undoubtedly, there will be some critics who take Steele’s comments out of context, expecting you to take some of his tongue-in-cheek remarks at face value rather than as they were truly intended. You can be assured that if this book is given its due consideration -- and certain politically correct hate-groups (with their noble-sounding names that contradict their actions, such as the ADL) are forced to recognize this book’s mere existence -- there may be some unjustified condemnation of it. Nevertheless, if you’re not a sheep and have the ability to think outside of the box, this is certainly something well worth reading.

Unfortunately, as Steele correctly notes, many of America’s elite do not possess the intellectual fortitude to really understand America’s current predicament:

“It is the elite who push multiculturalism, diversity, and affirmative action. They are out of touch and intellectually untouchable. They will be warned away from this book and others like it by America’s Zionist masters, in an attempt to keep the elite just as they are, locked away in a fairy-tale castle of multi-hued harmony, unaware of the gritty subtext of reality, which resides just outside their zone of awareness.

“The elite seem blissfully unaware of the growing resentment in all segments of society beyond their own inbred world, a resentment that one day will erupt and result in a massive restructuring of society….”

Steele has an unparalleled wit to offer people who are otherwise accustomed to the stodgy, over-intellectualization of others. Steele wrote it so that you don’t have to be a scientist to understand what he has to say. Perhaps, this is the main thing that makes it so appealing; it’s written for the average Joe. Yet, at the same time, while writing for the average person, Steele does offer relevant information and insight that even a scholar might find worthwhile. Take for example the “14-words,” those words that are supposed to convey "evil" among Whites:

”We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White children.”

Undoubtedly, that little sentence causes some to spew obscenities and froth at the mouth. As Steele notes, “It is held up as being a particularly virulent expression of White racism.” Yet, as Steele also notes, things aren’t always quite what they seem. Continuing, he says,

“However, let’s read it again--together--slowly:

“’We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White children.’

“Now, read it again:

“’We want to live. We want our kids to have a future.’ That’s all it says. . . .

“’Racist’ is exactly how this fourteen-word phrase is characterized, virtually by all who discuss it.

“However, even assuming, arguendo, the prevailing interpretation, let’s turn it around and make it into a clearly non-racist statement. This can be done by simply restating it in the negative, thereby highlighting just how ludicrous is the prevailing interpretation: ‘Our people need not survive, and White children don’t need a future.’”

You have to admire the manner in which Steele makes things understandable.

In a way, Steele’s honest yet thoughtful approach to America’s problems reminds me of something I once read about Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson and his nephew were walking along when they came across a young Black man. Jefferson bowed, as was customary at the time, and the Black man reciprocated. Yet Jefferson’s nephew did not. Jefferson then scolded his nephew for not behaving as a gentleman should.

While some may point out that Jefferson was indeed a 'racist,' as were America’s other founding fathers -- and this is something that cannot be refuted -- he was still a gentleman and didn’t exhibit hate or contempt for Blacks. In comparison, Steele is much less of a racist than Jefferson or America’s founding fathers, for he doesn’t promote slavery -- quite the converse. And Steele is certainly just as much a gentleman as America’s forefathers too.

Steele’s book is certain to anger many of the Israel-firsters out there. Being honest with respect to Israel is one thing that they can’t really stand. After all, they’re so used to the accolades of praise given by the Israel-first writers, such as syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer, that they arrogantly can’t believe anyone would defy them. (And speaking of Krauthammer, you have to wonder if he, Kraut-hammer, just made that last name up, or if Israel’s German-hating government assigned it to him when he decided to work for their interests in the U.S.?)

You can expect to hear the Israel-firsters using the little sobriquet “anti-Semite” in reference to Steele a little more often, though I doubt if it will have an impact on him. Commenting on how Jews have a tendency to abuse the term, Steele accurately writes, “An Anti-Semite is whatever a Jew says -- whoever a Jew dislikes -- and, ultimately, Jews seem to dislike everybody.” Writing of Israel, Steele says,

“’But Israel is our friend,’ you say, ‘the best friend we have in that hostile quarter of the world.’ Our only friend, more like it. Israel is our friend so long as we serve its purposes. Indeed, ‘friend’ is too kind a word. ‘Svengali’ is more to the point. While Israel is America’s only friend in the Middle East today, before Israel, America had no enemies in that part of the world.

“Proof abounds of Israel acting against America’s interests at every turn, many of which we will review below. No, Israel does not run America, but the shadowy cartel that does run America is solidly behind Israel. Israel is that cartel’s mistress, America its dowdy wife. No, not every member of that cartel is Jewish, but so many are that it might as well be exclusive.”

Curiously enough, there is a chapter on finance in the book or, more accurately, America’s dire financial situation and what you might consider doing if things continue on their present course. This might have to do with Steele’s background: Not only does he have a Doctorate in Law, but he also has a BA in Finance and an MBA in Accounting. Prior to becoming an attorney, he spent some time working as a Financial Analyst as well. As Steele suggests, and America’s current situation suggests as well, the coming economic collapse almost seems like a given.

When you think about it, the only thing we produce any more is real estate, fast food, carpet, and carpet bombs; our manufacturing base has gone out to pasture -- typically outsourced to foreign lands (though on occasion we see jobs vacated in favor of bringing cheaper foreign workers here, with about 800,000 H-1B visas out there). Of course, even neglecting the massive debt and displaced manufacturing jobs, it stands to reason that the financial overlords will try to decimate America if they feel their unpaid usury is at stake, and it will most certainly be at stake in the future. If the economy should collapse, the ideas that Steele suggests are well worth considering to save yourself.

Overall, Steele offers an interesting perspective to the problems that America faces that differs from most. Unlike others who review such problems and attempt to blame the results rather than the causes, he is honest and forthright, approaching the topics in a scholarly yet understandable manner. Undoubtedly, his book will help lead to a better understanding of the racial problems that America faces and how we can best deal with them. It will assist in the racial healing of America, repairing the damage caused by the ignorance of others who feign to be knowledgeable on such matters. His book is an important contribution in the effort to make America a better place; it is an inspiration, contrasted to the hate of those who condemn him for defying political correctness. Indeed, Steele’s book is something America has needed for a long time -- something to feed the void caused by the politically correct yet ignorant leaders of America -- and it fills this void well.

Oh, and lest I forget, at the beginning of this article, I said that there was a problem with his book. Perhaps, this problem should be considered before you buy a copy.

It’s not that his book is poorly written. In fact, you can hardly find a grammatical mistake in it.

It’s not that it’s boring. It’s actually quite interesting.

It’s not that it’s difficult to read. You don’t have to be a scientist to grasp what he’s saying, though I’m certain he could’ve written it in such a fashion if he had wanted to do so.

It’s not that it’s poorly researched. His thoughts are logical, and are gained from a firm understanding of his subject matter.

So what, then, is the problem with his book? The biggest problem with it is that every person in the world doesn’t possess a copy of it. And we should work to correct this problem. Immediately.

Go out and buy a case of this book, and give a copy to everyone you know. Buy some for your senators and congressmen, letting them read something interesting for a change. Buy a copy for Abraham Foxman of the ADL, lest he be forced to read the rantings in his colleagues’ jeremiads. Buy copies for your children’s school library, for their principal, for their classmates, and for their classmates’ parents; you can be assured to get some sort of reaction. Buy multiple copies for your local library. (You can be assured that the American Library Association won’t put it on their must-buy list, so it’s up to you.) But, most importantly, get a copy for yourself. If you read just one book this year, let it be Steele’s. You won’t regret it.
