I have a friend who is kind of a conspiracy theorist. He was trying to convince me that the many of the digital TV convert boxes that our coming out have microphones and cameras built into them. Knowing a bit about electronics I bought one of these devices opened it up fully intending on proving him wrong. To my surprise was right. This device has both a miniature camera lens and what looks like a microphone. I was so shocked I took pictures and video Please send this out to every one you know who is using one of these devices.
Hear are the details on the device I bought. Its the MAGNAVOX TB110MW9 Digital to Analog Converter
Below is a video and images of the device.
Cameras in Digital Convert Boxes! BEWARE!!!!

This is why the Gov't wants to pay for your converter.
While I can't vouch for the microphone, the "camera" is definitely a camera. That's not to say he didn't stick a $30 mini camera in there for dramatic effect.
A man called in to Stadtmiller's show this afternoon, saying he'd disassembled two (I believe) of the same model Magnavox boxes in this video. He said there wasn't any surveillance stuff inside of either.
Suppose there are cameras and microphones in these boxes. Ok, now for the next question: How are these video and audio streams supposed to be uploaded to "surveillance central"?

If you have a computer with a camera and microphone - and most now do have them - then you have a surveillance device already in your home. The NSA can reach in and take control and use it to surveil your home. Google uses it already to do "marketing". Of course the software that Google uses was most likely developed by "The Company" so guess who's coming to dinner?
If you have a cell phone you are carrying around a "bug". The NSA can activate the camera and microphone even if the phone is "turned off".
The surveillance technology is becoming so common it virtually now ever present.
