The Methodist Church of Great Britain has called on its ministers, deacons, and elders to stop using offensive terminology such as “husband” and “wife” to avoid making assumptions that are not “the reality for many people.” The church added the changes to its “Inclusive Language Guide,” an initiative aimed at preventing the use of “hurtful language” directed at groups the Methodist Church believes have been “marginalised and/or demonised by common culture.” The church plans to update the Inclusive Language Guide every six months to avoid using language that could offend groups it perceives as marginalize

Popular anti-anxiety medication could be putting more than 1 million pregnant women at risk of miscarriage, a new study suggests. Researchers from Taiwan studied more than 3 million pregnancies in 2 million women and found 4.4 percent - or 136,130 - resulted in miscarriages. They analyzed the medical history of all the women studied, and found those prescribed a class of drug called benzodiazepines - used to treat anxiety, depression and insomnia - were, on average, 70 percent more likely to miscarry compared to those who didn't take the pills. Friday, December 8, 2023 Trading in gold swaps by the Bank for International Settlements, the central bank of the central banks, continued in November. From information in the BIS statement of account for the month, published recently — https://www.bis.org/banking/balsheet/statofacc231130.pdf — it is estimated that the volume of the bank’s gold swaps increased in the month by 32 tonnes, from 68 to 100 tonnes, up 47%.
