Unclogging the drains of sewage pits isnt exactly how the 70-year-old planned to spend his golden years, but neither is his work investigating killings by police officers. I witnessed my son-in-law killed by the SWAT team I founded, he said. In 1974, Lawrence was elected sheriff of Davis County in the northern suburbs of Salt Lake City. A year later, he launched the ...

Report: Tom Brady Faces Big Tax Bill for Super Bowl Performance Wednesday, 04 Feb 2015 06:53 PM By Jason Devaney Quarterback Tom Brady of the New England Patriots won a Chevy truck for being named the MVP of the Super Bowl Sunday night, but with the truck comes a hefty tax bill. According to Americans for Tax Reform, Brady's 2015 Chevy Colorado is valued at around $34,000, although his might be more expensive because of some added features. The report breaks down the math and figures Brady will owe nearly 40 percent of the value to the IRS in taxes, which equates to $13,500. And that's not the only financial headache Brady faces because of his shiny red truck. Brady, who led ...

Not Sure What to Get Him for Valentine's Day? How About a Chocolate Butthole When you care enough to send your anus. What do you get for the man who has everything? How about a chocolate version of your butthole! Now, of course Edible Anus chocolates aren't modeled after your specific anus (if you want something like that, you could always get your anus bronzed), but they may as well be, because who could tell the difference? Sure, you could just get him a regular box of chocolates for Valentine's Day, but would that remind him of how he should probably make a point to eat your ass some time tonight? Probably not. So this year, give the gift of "Yep. This is seriously a ...

Updated at 11:20 a.m. EST on January 15 Nineteen days after they set out to achieve one of climbing's most difficult challenges, Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson reached the summit of the 3,000-foot rock known as El Capitan in Yosemite National Park on Wednesday, marking the first free ascent of a notoriously difficult section called the Dawn Wall. Caldwell and Jorgeson reached the summit just after 6:00 p.m. EST, where a contingent of 40 friends and family members, plus a group of reporters, stood ready to greet them, having arrived via an eight-mile (13-kilometer) hike around the backside of the mountain. The crowd had already begun toasting the duo's accomplishment with ...
French PM Valls' Jewish Wife Blamed for Dieudonné Ban Post Date: 2015-01-16 23:28:01 by Deasy

Nicolas Anelka has claimed that France's new Prime Minister was influenced by his Jewish wife to ban a comedian accused of anti-Semitism, who invented an allegedly Nazi-like gesture which was copycatted by the footballer. Anelka was handed a five-game ban by the FA and left British team West Bromwich Albion after he celebrated a goal with the so-called "quenelle" salute, which was first conceived by his comedian friend, Dieudonné M'bala M'bala in December. In January the French government moved to prevent Dieudonné's national tour over the alleged anti-Semitic contents of his show. The ban was strongly supported by the then-interior minister, ...
Robots on the Golf Course Post Date: 2015-01-16 09:39:32 by Lod

A man goes to a public golf course. He approaches the man behind the counter in the pro shop and says, "I would like 18 holes of golf and a caddie." The man behind the counter says, "The 18 holes of golf is no problem, but all of our caddies are out on the course. But - we just received 8 brand new robot golf caddies. If you're willing to take one with you out on the course and come back and tell me how well it works, your round of golf is on me today. The golfer obviously accepted the man's offer. He approached the first tee, looked at the fairway and said to himself, "I think my driver will do the job." The robot caddie turned to the man and said, ...

Do you make these 3 Firearms Training Mistakes? As a responsible firearm owner, you know how important it is to train with your firearm on a regular basis. It makes it more fun to shoot by yourself, more fun when youre shooting with others, and it could just make the difference between going home or to the hospital in a lethal force encounter. Training as much as you know you need to, of course, always runs up against the obstacle of time and money, which is why were going to talk about 3 VERY common firearms training mistakes and what you can do to blow them out of the water. Mistake #1: Thinking that 8 Combat accurate groups are good enough. ...
Let’s abolish West Point: Military academies serve no one, squander millions of tax dollars Post Date: 2015-01-07 09:03:52 by Ada

Our military academies aren't filled with best and brightest. They are a boondoggle, on your dime, and serve no one Many pundits have suggested that the Republicans midterm gains were fueled by discontent not merely with the president or with the (improving) state of the economy, but with government in general and the need to fund its programs with taxes. Indeed, the Republican Party of recent decades, inspired by Ronald Reagans exhortation to starve the [government] beast, has been anti-tax and anti-government. Government programs, as many of their thinkers note, primarily exist to perpetuate their own existence. At the very least, they have to justify that ...

These investigations are clearly a growth business, because now Freehs firm is helping coordinate the defense of an Israeli billionaire who is being investigated on three continents in regard to ...

The Downing of Flight MH17: Why is Malaysia Not Part of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT)? Post Date: 2014-11-25 08:03:14 by Ada

Why is Malaysia not in the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the MH 17 crash of July 17 2014? Arent there guidelines that spell out which parties should constitute the probe team in the event of a disaster of the magnitude of MH 17? As the owner of MH 17 it is logical and sensible that Malaysia is part of the probe. Malaysia has more rights to be in the JIT than some of its present members. One can understand why Ukraine is in the team since that is where the plane was shot from the sky. We can understand the Netherlands membership of the JIT since the flight originated from Amsterdam. But why is Belgium in the JIT? Is it because Brussels is the administrative capital of ...

Yankees and Red Sox shut out of MVP votes for first time ever By Mike Oz November 14, 2014 1:42 AM Big League Stew A number of interesting historical tidbits came from Thursday's MVP announcement. Clayton Kershaw won in the National League, becoming the first NL pitcher since Bob Gibson in 1968 to be named MVP. American League winner Mike Trout, meanwhile, became the fifth-youngest MVP winner, getting the award at age 23. Two nice honors for the stars of L.A. Meanwhile, on the East Coast, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees, made a very different type of history. They were shut out completely. Not that they didn't win no player on either team got a single vote on ...

Mark Udall's loss is a blow for privacy, but he can go out with a bang: 'leak' the CIA torture report Post Date: 2014-11-06 17:19:46 by Ada

The outgoing Senator and champion of civil liberties has one last chance to read the truth about American atrocities out loud, for the world to see before its too late Americas rising civil liberties movement lost one of its strongest advocates in the US Congress on Tuesday night, as Colorados Mark Udall lost his Senate seat to Republican Cory Gardner. While the election was not a referendum on Udalls support for civil liberties (Gardner expressed support for surveillance reform, and Udall spent most of his campaign almost solely concentrating on reproductive issues), the loss is undoubtedly a blow for privacy and transparency advocates, as Udall was one of ...

Just curious if anyone else here watched it. It was amazing. And at the end, when they asked him what the future held for him or what he hoped to do he said that he wanted to re-create his grandfather Karl's walk across the Tallulah Gorge next year (the 45th anniversary of that walk). Karl did two hand stands out in the middle of the gorge and he was about 600 feet from the ground when he did that.

No one was happier than Jason Reed of Moore when state wildlife officials announced a new statewide elk hunting season this year. For years, Reed kept seeing elk while deer hunting on his familys land in Coal County. Weve had free-ranging elk for 15 years but have not been able to shoot them, Reed said. Over the years, Ive had them walk under my tree stand when I was deer hunting for whitetails. I have seen as many as 18 in one group. State wildlife officials say there are free-ranging elk in 33 ...
