Fred Reed: Ignore Congress and the Supremos

I am a reasonably retired mid-level journalist of no import but much experience, interested in international affairs, law, society, education, and political trends. Yet, God’s truth, I do not know who Boehner and Pelosi are, or were, and now somebody or something called Ryan. Yes, I know that they are in Congress, or were, but I do not know what posts they hold, or held, or in which party they are, or were, or in which house. I really do not. How can this be? How can someone who has spent a lifetime in the fetid bubblings of the news racket, including many years in DC, be so profoundly ignorant of the most elementary of political facts? Isn’t that like a neurosurgeon who ...

Mr. Trump’s Economic Nationalism

Yesterday I saw Donald Trump speak live at a rally in downtown Atlanta, and I stand here before God and man to report that not once did he mention the topic of race. This is disconcerting for multiple reasons, not least of which is the fact that the primary criticism lodged against him is that he’s a racist. Fresh off a thumping of his robotic GOP rivals in South Carolina on Saturday, Trump was greeted by a rapturous crowd that was almost entirely white—or, as those who see something innately wrong with such a thing are fond of saying, it was “overwhelmingly” white. More than half of his opening speakers were black, but they didn’t make a point of being black like ...

JOHN MCAFEE: I'll decrypt the San Bernardino phone for free so Apple doesn't need to place a back door on its product

John McAfee is running for president as a member of the Libertarian Party. This is an op-ed he wrote and gave us permission to run. Using an obscure law, written in 1789 - The All Writs Act, the U.S. Government has ordered Apple to place a back door into its IOS software so that the FBI can decrypt information on an an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters. It has finally come to this. After years of arguments by virtually every industry specialist that back doors will be a bigger boon to hackers and to our nation’s enemies than publishing our nuclear codes and giving the keys to all of our military weapons to the Russians and the Chinese, our government has chosen, once ...

For all those who say ‘the Jews are our allies’ and that ‘the Jews are our friends’, ask yourselves why European and worldwide Jewish groups never come out in opposition to Genocidal state enforced multiculturalism. Ask yourselves why they never come out in opposition to Mass Immigration. Ask yourselves why they involve themselves in movements hostile to the preservation of the European people and movements that promote societal, racial and cultural decay. Ask yourselves why they never come out and state publically that Europeans have the right to exist as Europeans on the continent of Europe. If they are our ‘allies’ and ‘friends’ then surely they ...

February 01, 2016 "Truth is like the sun. You can shut it out for a time, but it ain't goin' away." … Elvis Presley This is another long Rant because the world collapse is speeding up. Sit down with a cup of coffee, relax, have fun, get a good laugh, learn things you’ll not find anywhere else, and read it all please. EX-FEDERAL RESERVECHIEF ADMITS THEY DESTROYED ECONOMY We have to print this again. The former Fed Chief Richard Fisher said this month on national television, including CNBC. This is unreal. Maybe he actually feels guilty for what he's done. Maybe he just doesn't want to be blamed when the collapse occurs. He admits the fed caused ...

Conservative Anger Over Immigration Isn't That Complicated

Ramesh Ponnuru writes today that Nikki Haley has paid a price for her squishy stance on immigration: For these comments, she was denounced in some quarters as a moderate who had declared war on her own party’s strongest supporters. Both the speech and the reaction offer more evidence that immigration control is becoming a more important, and defining, issue for conservatives. Why the issue has become central is less clear. It's not because the problem of illegal immigration is growing; it has fallen in recent years. But that decline has coincided with at least seven factors that have raised the political importance of immigration for the right. Low economic ...

U.S. should not appeal release of graphic video Judge ruled in favor of media outlets’ request This nation learned so much from the depravity of Abu Ghraib prison. We learned of the stunning failure of military command. We learned that disclosure of such horrors, though difficult to hear and to see, is at the foundation of Americans’ right to know what it being done on their behalf. And we were reminded that we are, as always, a resilient nation that owns up to its mistakes, no matter how grave. The Obama administration is recklessly sweeping those lessons aside in a misguided attempt to keep from public view what has been described as an “eye- watering” video of a ...

5 Taxpayer Handouts the Bundys Receive While Railing Against Government “Tyranny”

Nearly every part of the Bundy family’s business is funded by government welfare programs. The armed militiamen currently occupying the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Oregon have attempted to portray an image of themselves as rugged, independent Americans rejecting government interference in their businesses. But nearly every part of their existence as ranchers is made possible by government welfare programs — even the building they’re depending on for shelter from the cold was built by federal tax dollars as part of the New Deal program. Here are just a few ways taxpayers are subsidizing the livelihoods of cattle ranchers like the Bundy family: 1. Ammon Bundy’s loan from ...

I was watching the national news immediately after the San Bernardino terror. A sympathetic host was interviewing a refined Muslim gentleman, who was given more than ample time to explain that his faith and its symbols were being misrepresented by the terrorists’ holocaust. But consider: The Koran contains the words of Allah whose many commandments therein call for the extermination of all Islamic non-believers. Muslim terrorists throughout the world have brought death and destruction to thousands of the innocent and pledged to spread the misery to the millions. They cite Allah and his teachings in the Koran as the source of their inspiration and justification for their deadly ...

The federal criminal investigation of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s failure to secure state secrets was ratcheted up earlier this week, and at the same time, the existence of a parallel criminal investigation of another aspect of her behavior was made known. This is the second publicly revealed expansion of the FBI’s investigations in two months. I have argued for two months that Clinton’s legal woes are either grave or worse than grave. That argument has been based on the hard, now public evidence of her failure to safeguard national security secrets and the known manner in which the Department of Justice addresses these failures. The failure to safeguard ...

American Legal System Is Corrupt Beyond Recognition

American Legal System Is Corrupt Beyond Recognition By Judge Edith Jones (U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit) To the Federalist Society of Harvard Law School 28.ii.MMIII The American legal system has been corrupted almost beyond recognition. The question of what is morally right is routinely sacrificed to what is politically expedient. The change has come because legal philosophy has descended to nihilism. The integrity of law, its religious roots, its transcendent quality are disappearing. I saw the movie 'Chicago' with Richard Gere the other day. That's the way the public thinks about lawyers. The first 100 years of American lawyers were trained on Blackstone, ...

The New York Times’ Featured Syrian Refugee of The Week

On Christmas Day — three weeks after the son of a Pakistani immigrant and his Pakistani immigrant bride murdered 14 people in San Bernardino, California — The New York Times told the heartwarming story of “Kamal,” a Syrian refugee who resettled into Houston, Texas, earlier this year and immediately started shopping at Walmart. The Times considers it tacky when actual Americans go to Walmart, but Muslim immigrants seem to live there, buying nothing but American flags and Christmas trees. Thus, we’re told Kamal has an outdoor Christmas tree from Walmart, and we find him carrying two trays of cupcakes from Kroger’s for his children’s elementary school ...

What is Fascism?

TRIBUNE 1944 Of all the unanswered questions of our time, perhaps the most important is: ‘What is Fascism?’ One of the social survey organizations in America recently asked this question of a hundred different people, and got answers ranging from ‘pure democracy’ to ‘pure diabolism’. In this country if you ask the average thinking person to define Fascism, he usually answers by pointing to the German and Italian régimes. But this is very unsatisfactory, because even the major Fascist states differ from one another a good deal in structure and ideology. It is not easy, for instance, to fit Germany and Japan into the same framework, and it is even ...

Russia Was Forced to 'Draw a Line in Syria Against Washington's Aggression'

© Sputnik The Obama administration is carrying out an assertive foreign policy, which among other things forced Russia to launch a counterterrorism campaign in Syria, but Republican presidential hopefuls will most likely opt for a more aggressive one, Vietnam War combat veteran Gordon Duff asserted. "There is no question that Russia has been pushed into drawing a line in Syria against American aggression," he wrote for New Eastern Outlook. Russian Strategic Moves in East Asia Leave US Policymakers in a Panic Duff maintains that the majority of Americans do not approve of the "insane" foreign policy decisions made by the White House and would like their leaders ...

It Took My Mother 50 Years To Talk To Me About Her Experience In the Holocaust—When She Finally Did I Was Speechless

As a Holocaust researcher, Hermann Simon had heard numerous survivor's stories, but it wasn't until his mother was 75 years old that she allowed him to hear her own. If I had to locate the exact point in time when I began thinking about preserving my mother's memories of her survival underground in Berlin during the Nazi years, I suppose it would be the day I overheard her speaking to someone on the telephone. It was obvious to me that it must be a journalist requesting an interview about her experiences during those dark years. My mother's reply was typical. "Don't you think I would be intellectually capable of writing down my own memories if I wanted to do ...

ALL bluefin tuna caught off West Coast are radioactive
Post Date: 2015-12-24 13:52:56 by Horse

Studies suggest that all bluefin tuna caught off the U.S. West Coast are likely carrying radioactive isotopes from the 2011 Fukushima disaster. That's just one more reason to avoid eating Pacific bluefin tuna, which are considered critically endangered. Over-fishing has reduced their population to only 3.6 percent of its historic levels. It is unknown what further effects radiation poisoning might have on this threatened fish. In March 2011, a massive earthquake and tsunami triggered multiple meltdowns at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Explosions launched enormous amounts of radioactive material into the air, most of which settled into the Pacific Ocean. Since ...

Abrams, Bergdahl and McCain

One man’s justice is another man’s injustice. — Ralph Waldo Emerson, Essays, First Series December 14, 2015, was a good day for John McCain. It was a less good day for Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, General Robert Abrams, and the military justice system. It was a middling sort of day for the U.S. Constitution, although it hadn’t been directly involved except insofar as Mr. McCain showed once again that the kind of due process the Constitution contemplates can prevent desired outcomes in some criminal proceedings. John McCain’s problem with the Constitution did not start with Bowe Bergdahl. It first came to light when Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the Boston Marathon ...

5 Things You Never Knew About Santa Claus and Coca-Cola

The Santa Claus we all know and love — that big, jolly man in the red suit with a white beard — didn’t always look that way. In fact, many people are surprised to learn that prior to 1931, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. He has donned a bishop's robe and a Norse huntsman's animal skin. In fact, when Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus for Harper's Weekly in 1862, Santa was a small elflike figure who supported the Union. Nast continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today. Here, a few other things you may not have realized about the ...

RUSSIANS GET IT, AMERICANS LOST IT - Sex, drugs and rock'n' roll: The great American tragedy

"During the recent 50 years, family grounds in the United States have decayed. Nowadays, an unemployed man, who changes his job every weak or every month, has become commonplace. This is a consequence of the war in Vietnam, of the fight for civil rights of the African American population, of high unemployment rates and the prosperity of immoral ideology that can be briefly described in the motto "sex, drugs and rock'n' roll." However, the American woman has won the right for education, career and independent life. American women have eventually become so emancipated and independent that they no longer need men. A modern American woman has lost her healthy instinct - ...

What Really Happened at San Bernardino?

The CBS Evening News ran this interview. This has been dropped down the memory hole. So has this. Note: he spoke of a black SUV. Note also that he got verbal confirmation from off-camera. This indicates that there were other eyewitnesses. The only eyewitness identifications that I can find speak of three white men. I looked at several published timelines of the shootings. You can, too. Search for “timeline,” “Farook,” “San Bernardino.” No victim identified the two suspects immediately after the shootings, which had ended by the time the police and firefighters arrived at 11:05 a.m. The police had no clues regarding Farook and his wife. The two were shot in a ...
