Third Atomic Bomb Attack - Japan 1945

If Japan did not surrender on 15 August 1945, a third atomic bombing was planned. In this programme we examine how Japan's surrender was a complicated and difficult process involving a military coup and how America was reluctantly faced with potentially using the third bomb - but which city was to be targeted? And would it have ended the war? Poster Comment:When Japan surrendered all of the weapons stacked 4 and 5 pallets high on Guam were sent to Hanoi. I know this from reading about Col. L. Fletcher Prouty. He was an intelligence agent in the south Pacific. He also flew Chiang Kai Shek to the allies meeting at Tehran in 1943.

Created as a companion documentary to the film Valkyrie, this History Channel documentary details the true story behind the plot to assassinate Adolph Hitler. Poster Comment:I worked with a guy on Illinois Highways that was a Sudeten German. When Germany annexed the Sudtenland he volunteered for the Waffen SS. His father protested to his Commander in boot camp that he was being treated too harshly. He was arrested as a dissenter and sent to the camps in Germany. The last I heard he still had not found a trace of him. Many people disappeared in those camps. He was captured by the Russians and riding on a prison wagon with a female guard. She fell asleep and dropped her rifle. He jumped ...

History of the Siege of Yorktown

History of the Siege of Yorktown By the summer of 1781, the United States had been at war with England for over six years. The first shots had been fired in April 1775 on the village green in Lexington and at North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts. Merely sustaining the army had been a major accomplishment for the Americans, who did not have much money, food or clothing. The winters of 1777-78 at Valley Forge and 1779-80 at Morristown were particularly devastating, with many soldiers freezing and starving to death, and some giving up and returning home. A deep belief in the cause and an enduring faith in their leader, George Washington, kept this army together. In the summer of 1780, the ...

It meant a trader 4,000 years ago could travel from ancient Mesopotamia to the Aegean and from there on to Central Europe without having to change their own set of weights because similar systems were in use. Researchers say ...

Hitler's Biggest Mistake: Why The Nazi Atomic Bomb Never Happened The prospect of a Nazi atomic bomb is sobering, but German scientists themselves doomed the project to failure. by Warfare History Network Key Point: A steady stream of fleeing European scientists provided a relatively clear picture of German advances, or lack thereof, to Allied intelligence services. The most nightmarish of World War II alternative history scenarios is the one in which Nazi Germany acquires atomic weapons. In fact, by the spring of 1945, when America’s massive nuclear program was reaching its culmination, the Nazi atomic program consisted of one experimental reactor in a cave in southern ...

Dutch Museum Launches “Beethoven is Black” Project
Post Date: 2021-06-06 09:33:28 by Ada

DAS RITE! Many blacks believe that Ludwig von Beethoven was secretly black. This was long promoted by Black Hebrew Israelites and various other fringe black cults, but has more recently seeped into the mainstream of black thought as various fringe blacks are being promoted by Jews as a way to radicalize masses of black people to attack whites. It is not clear how it would be possible for a 19th century German pop culture icon to be black and have that not ever be mentioned by anyone writing at the time. But it doesn’t matter, because black people will just believe anything. The core of the claim revolves around an 1814 etching of the composer, which due to the etching style, made ...

The Tulsa Libel

History doesn’t change to fit our wishes. We wish whites hadn’t imported blacks as slaves and had not changed immigration policy in 1965. However, in a multiracial society, history often isn’t about facts. It’s a weapon. A story about the past justifies current policy. When history doesn’t provide a suitably horrific example, invent one. The 1921 “Tulsa Race Massacre” is for now the most important story in the country. It is so important that President Joe Biden issued a Proclamation about it on Memorial Day itself, a sign of what post-white America will be “memorializing” in the future. Yesterday, he visited Tulsa to talk about the ...

CNN's Don Lemon Fails to Get Guest to Take 'Bait,' Instead Gets Contradicted on Slavery by C. Douglas Golden May 8, 2021 at 9:51am The Three-Fifths Compromise is one of the most misunderstood pieces of America’s political history there is — and the fact Republicans are pushing back on the false narrative rankles some left-bubble partisan media. On Wednesday, CNN host Chris Cuomo said Republicans “are bringing up this Three-Fifths Compromise stuff for a reason” during the 10 p.m. hand-off from Don Lemon, according to The Daily Wire. “It’s something pernicious and wicked that they’re trying to do.” “Is it white supremacy? What is ...

Richard Strauss and the Survival of Western Culture

For a number of years I’ve greatly admired and enjoyed the music of the German composer Richard Strauss (1864-1949). In his early years prior to the First World War, he was considered forward-looking, even musically avant-garde. Indeed, the aged defender of the German classical tradition —and another favorite—Max Bruch (d. 1920), found Strauss’ compositions too advanced and straying from that tradition. Yet Strauss was formed in the richly productive culture of southern Germany, Bavaria and the old Austro-Hungarian Empire, and, even if he experimented with harmony and vocal lines in his operas Salome (1905) and Elektra (1909), he never really departed from that early ...

FDR's Great Gold Robbery

Today is the anniversary of one of President Franklin Roosevelt’s worst infamies – his confiscation of privately-owned gold. I wrote the following article in 1999 for Sheldon Richman at the Foundation for Economic Education. This article was a spinoff of Freedom in Chains: The Rise of the State and the Demise of the Citizen (St. Martin’s Press, 1999).Freeman, June 1999 Money: The Great Gold Robbery by James Bovard The New Deal established much of the moral framework of contemporary political life. Though some of the programs and policies of that era have been terminated, the moral heritage of the New Deal continues to permeate American government and political thinking. In ...

Peter Cozzens, The Earth Is Weeping: The Epic Story of the Indian Wars for the American West, Alfred A. Knopf, 2016, 576 pp., $35.00. The war in Afghanistan is said to be our longest war, but the war against the Plains Indians was longer, lasting from the 1860s until 1890. Peter Cozzens, a retired Foreign Service Officer and independent historian, has written what he hopes is a balanced account of a conflict that has, for decades, been defined by Dee Brown’s, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Published in 1970, countless colleges have taught this biased book, and it has never gone out of print. Mr. Cozzens writes that it is unique for “so crucial a period of our history [to] ...
