In her review of David Talbot’s new book, The Devil’s Chessboard (“Checkmate on The Devils Chessboard”, Consortium News October 27, 2015), Lisa Pease provides a succinct summary of Talbot’s impressive work. With one notable exception, she has nothing but praise for his seminal research. That exception relates to his reference to E. Howard Hunt’s “final confession” identifying LBJ as the top of the chain of command that brought about the death of JFK, which is not congruent with the conventional wisdom she and her fellow “researchers” have been so anxious to avoid. Her review isolates that premise as follows: While Talbot has the facts ...

Trump Already Building His Presidential Library July 23, 2015 NEW YORK (TheSkunk.org) — Ground broke Monday on the President Donald J. Trump Library and Museum in Upper Manhattan. Funded solely by Donald J. Trump, the $1.5 billion project is touted to be the largest of all the other presidential libraries. “It will house all the tens of thousands of things – millions of things, probably — that I will have done do to make America great during my sixteen years as president,” said Trump in an interview. “It’s going to be large – larger then you can imagine, because that’s the way I build things.” Although Trump is currently only a ...

By Aaron Dykes The game is rigged, and the fix is in… as depicted in this sketch from The Kentucky Fried Movie back in 1977. What else can you say? The only truth that will be told to the masses is through satire – but at least it’s good satire. The Warren Commission’s lone assassin “magic bullet” theory is like the bad prank explanation of a criminal gang who laugh off the attempts to catch it, and aren’t exactly afraid of getting caught in a lie. Who are the real perpetrators? Look at who controlled the cover up, and who holds the reins of power. Read more:JFK Assassination at 50: Liberty Died With ItCreepy! Starting at about 33:34, cf: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabia_Steamboat_Museum In 1987, Bob Hawley and his sons, Greg and David, set out to find the boat. The Hawleys used old maps and a proton magnetometer to figure out the probable location, and finally discovered the Arabia half a mile from the river and under 45 feet (14 m) of silt and topsoil. The owners of the farm gave permission for excavation, with the condition that the work be completed before the spring planting. The Hawleys, along with family friends Jerry Mackey and David Luttrell, set out to excavate the boat during the winter months while the water table was at its lowest point. They performed a series of drilling tests ...

Ancient Egyptians leveraged a massive shipping, mining and farming economy to propel their civilization forward Following notes written by an English traveler in the early 19th century and two French pilots in the 1950s, Pierre Tallet made a stunning discovery: a set of 30 caves honeycombed into limestone hills but sealed up and hidden from view in a remote part of the Egyptian desert, a few miles inland from the Red Sea, far from any city, ancient or modern. During his first digging season, in 2011, he established that the caves had served as a kind of boat storage depot during the fourth dynasty of the Old Kingdom, about 4,600 years ago. Then, in 2013, during his third digging season, ...

A formation of around 90 stone monoliths has been found 3 kilometres northeast of Stonehenge in Wiltshire, Britain, and archaeologists suspect it could be part of the largest Neolithic site ever discovered. Dated to over 4,500 years old, the sandstone blocks were detected under less than a metre of earth, and scientists in the UK are now using a combination of remote sensing and geophysical imaging technology to construct an underground map of the area. "We don't think there's anything quite like this anywhere else in the world," lead researcher and archaeologist Vince Gaffney from the University of Bradford told BBC News. "This is completely new and the scale is ...

1953 High School Quiz - Could You Pass?

I recently found an interesting quiz that my dad saved from his high school days, where students were asked to fill out anatomical locations of a sheep and lamb. He filled out all the correct answers. Students were required to list all 26 'points of the sheep' and 8 'locations of standard wholesale lamb cuts.' This was back when many people still had small farms, or at least a few chickens, and gardens and there were orange groves all over Southern California. These were the days, by the way, when my dad actually would, on occasion - carry his .22 rifle to school- he'd keep it in the coat closet, and would go hiking with his friends after school. I've included a ...

CAMARILLO, Calif. – Ben Kuroki, who overcame the American military's discriminatory policies to become the only Japanese American to fly over Japan during World War II, has died. He was 98. Kuroki died Tuesday at his Camarillo, California, home, where he was under hospice care, his daughter Julie Kuroki told the Los Angeles Times on Saturday. The son of Japanese immigrants who was raised on a Hershey, Nebraska, farm, Kuroki and his brother, Fred, volunteered for service after the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. They were initially rejected by recruiters who questioned the loyalty of the children of Japanese immigrants. Undeterred, the brothers drove 150 miles to another ...

Lincoln’s Model of a Modern Major General

For 150 years the American Lincoln cult denied what it called a “rumor” that, after a string of devastating battlefield defeats, Abraham Lincoln in 1862 offered command of the U.S. Army to an Italian mercenary named Giuseppe Garibaldi. The “rumor” was proven to be true, however, when an Italian historian named Arrigo Petacco discovered in an Italian archive a faded letter from Garibaldi to King Victor Emmanuel II of Italy, telling the king of the offer (See Rory Carroll, “Garibaldi Asked by Lincoln to Run Army”). Garibaldi was Lincoln’s first choice to replace General George McClellan, long before Ulysses S. Grant took command of the Army of the Potomac. ...

Muhammad Allan's Suspended Detention Can Be Reversed

Muhammad Allan’s Suspended Detention Can Be Reversed by Stephen Lendman Despite Israel’s High Court suspending Allan’s detention for medical reasons as a first step toward freeing him, Israel may reimpose it if his health improves. He’s been lawlessly imprisoned since last November - uncharged and untried because he committed no crimes. Yet Israel’s police state process permits kidnapping and indefinite detention - or rearrest any time if he’s released. Allan remains a marked man whatever his health status. Thousands of other Palestinians endure the same fate - victims of vicious apartheid injustice. Allan remains hospitalized at Israel’s Barzilai ...

Did Stone Age man invent 'church bells' 15,000 years ago?

Ceremonial boulders were hit like 'gongs' to call the community to funerals Large stone mortars were found next to stone age grave sites in Israel Researchers believe these were pounded to summon people to ceremonies Noise from the 3 foot tall rocks would have been audible for miles around It suggests nearby communities were bound together with common beliefs They were among the first Stone Age humans to abandon the nomadic hunter-gatherer lifestyle in favour of living in settled villages around 15,000 years ago. Now archaeologists have discovered the Natufian culture that lived in the Levant in modern-day Israel may also have pioneered the concept of church bells to summon the ...

Hiroshima: Lincoln's Legacy to Civilians The Thirty Years' War, 1618-48, ended with the Treaty of Westphalia. That was one of the great events in Western history. It lasted until the summer of 1864.The Thirty Years' War shook Europe to its core. Prior to that war, the influence of the Catholic Church in restricting warfare to warriors had been dominant in the West. Protestants generally respected this tradition for a century. But in 1618, the tradition ended. It ended in Germany, and it ended in the Netherlands a year later, with the end of the 12-year truce between Spain and the Netherlands. The 80-year war of secession resumed. In the German principalities, armies destroyed ...

The War Department Appropriations Bill of 1903 established many things, but the one that begins our story today is its founding of the National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice. Teddy Roosevelt was in office at the time and his enthusiasm for the shooting sports, and this bill, also gave rise to the National Rifle and Pistol Trophy Matches. Needless to say that the government wanted its citizens proficient in firearms use, perhaps spurred on by the recently ended Spanish-American War (1899) and the numerous other conflicts in which America involved itself in the Caribbean, Pacific islands, and Central America (a.k.a. "The Banana Wars"). By 1905, Teddy has signed off ...

Israel Attacks Islam’s Third Holiest Site by Stephen Lendman Nothing is too outrageous for rogue states run by racist criminals. Cold-blooded murder, vicious assaults, mass arrests and imprisonments for political reasons, torture and other forms of abuse are institutionalized practices. Israel gives Judaism a bad name. More proof came Sunday morning. soldiers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque, firing tear gas and rubber-coated steel bullets at nonviolent worshipers to clear way for extremist Jews to access Islam’s third holiest site where they don’t belong. Israel has no shortage of synagogues for worshipers to pray any day of the year for any reason. Forcibly entering a Muslim ...

DIXIE'S CENSORED SUBJECT BLACK SLAVEOWNERS By Robert M. Grooms In an 1856 letter to his wife Mary Custis Lee, Robert E. Lee called slavery "a moral and political evil." Yet he concluded that black slaves were immeasurably better off here than in Africa, morally, socially and physically. The fact is large numbers of free Negroes owned black slaves; in fact, in numbers disproportionate to their representation in society at large. In 1860 only a small minority of whites owned slaves. According to the U.S. census report for that last year before the Civil War, there were nearly 27 million whites in the country. Some eight million of them lived in the slaveholding states. The census ...
