Nancy Pelosi Propped Up Chinese Olympics As Her Family Bagged Money (PresidentialWire.com)- According to Peter Schweizers new book Red- Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi dropped her hawkish position on China as soon as her familys ties to Beijing started making her rich. Schweizer reveals that while Pelosi was one of the most vocal anti- China members of Congress early on in her career, as her husband Pauls business ties in China grew, Nancys human rights advocacy against Beijing diminished. Paul Pelosi became a partner investor in Matthews International Capital Management which was a pioneer in investing ...

West cooked up ‘Russian threat’ to save face after Afghan flop, diplomat says Post Date: 2022-02-08 14:58:02 by Horse

Washington and London have cooked up the threat of Russia invading Ukraine for the sake of a "heroic fight" in order to carry out a provocation and then declare victory, which is a way to distract their public from their own domestic crises and restore the "undefeatable" image following the Afghan flop, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel on Monday. The diplomat pointed out the repeated discussion on Europes fate in EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrells blog posted on January 30 confirmed her earlier suspicions that the blog "leads a life of its own," ...

Stark new figures reveal numbers suffering food poverty in UK Post Date: 2022-02-08 10:44:46 by Horse

One million adults across the UK went an entire day without eating over the past month because they were unable to put food on the table, according to research from charity Food Foundation, published on Monday. The foundations report claims that soaring energy prices, along with an increase in the cost of groceries, has exacerbated the cost-of-living crisis and the impact of a universal credit reduction. In October, a £20 ($27) Covid top-up to universal credit was removed. Food Foundation found that more than one in five households are facing a heat or eat dilemma, with family funds squeezed by the soaring cost of heating over the winter months.
Who ya gonna believe about Russia invading Ukraine? Post Date: 2022-02-08 07:51:23 by Ada

While the danger of miscalculation persists, a nonviolent resolution of the ongoing war scare is eminently plausible. Which makes the incessant warmongering of the American media all the more disturbing and repugnant. Who ya gonna believe, me, or your lying eyes? Groucho Marx probably never uttered that famous line, but sometimes it seems like he should have. Americans are experiencing one of those who-ya-gonna-believe moments. Yet another full-fledged war scare is upon us with reports that Russia will invade Ukraine. This one involves an adversary possessing considerably greater military capabilities than Afghanistan or Iraq, where, you will recall, our side did not fare ...

Antony Blinken’s horrific stain on Albania and it’s all for George Soros Post Date: 2022-02-07 11:24:47 by Ada

As if Secretary of State Antony Blinken werent embroiled in enough foreign debacles, he now stands accused of meddling in Albanian elections on behalf of billionaire financier George Soros and is being sued for defamation in an international court as a result. One of Blinkens curious first actions on taking office last year was to sanction the former president and prime minister of Albania, Sali Berisha, the anti-Communist ally of Presidents George H.W. and George W. Bush, who has been in opposition for eight years, and who is a vocal opponent of Soros and his Open Society Foundations, which has been pushing judicial and electoral reform in Albania. In an ...

US appears shocked by rising Sino-Friendship? Maybe they should have been friendly instead of bombing and threatening the whole world? Not a good way to make friends, really. The core of Sino-Friendship, conversely, is high quality products at reasonable prices. RT: The US has a relationship with Beijing of its own, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said during a press briefing on Friday, when asked about President Bidens take on the strengthening ties between Russia and China through the lens of his broader foreign policy goals, agenda items. Well, we the president views it views it as we have our own relationship with China, Psaki ...

Morgan Stanley: "It Begins" Post Date: 2022-02-06 19:43:58 by Horse

By Andrew Sheets of Morgan Stanley, Chief Cross-Asset Strategist for Morgan Stanley I mention this because between lunchtime on Wednesday January 24 and this past Wednesday, there was a distinct feeling of 'we made it'. Yes, inflation has surprised to the upside. Yes, key data were weak. Yes, central banks are pivoting more hawkishly. Yes, yields are rising. Yet, thanks to good earnings and fund inflows, global equities are only down 3%. Well done. Its tempting to think that this is the end of the story: the test arrived early this year, and the markets passed. But the reality is likely to be more complicated. This is just the start of the game. A record amount of ...
Visualizing The State Of Global Debt, By Country Post Date: 2022-02-06 19:36:54 by Horse

Since COVID-19 started its spread around the world in 2020, the global economy has been put to the test with supply chain disruptions, price volatility for commodities, challenges in the job market, and declining income from tourism. The World Bank has estimated that almost 97 million people have been pushed into extreme poverty as a result of the pandemic. In order to help with this difficult situation, global governments have had to increase their expenditures to deal with higher healthcare costs, unemployment, food insecurity, and to help businesses to survive. Countries have taken on new debt to provide financial support for these measures, which, as Visual Capitalist's Rail ...
