Presstv../ US President Donald Trump has said that he would be Iran's "best friend" and that the Islamic republic could be a "wealthy" country if it stopped pursuing nuclear weapons. Irans leadership has repeatedly expressed their firm opposition to the development and use of nuclear weapons. They're not going to have a nuclear weapon. We're not going to have Iran have a nuclear weapon, Trump told reporters outside the White House on Saturday. "When they agree to that, they're going to have a wealthy country. They're going to be so happy, and I'm going to be their best friend. I hope that happens, he added. ...
Arab Analyst Terms US Spy Drone Flight over Iran "A Big Mistake" Post Date: 2019-06-23 02:02:45 by Tatarewicz

TEHRAN (FNA)- Washington has embarked on a big mistake when it sent a spying drone to a sensitive region in Iranian territories, Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm newspaper, said, adding that Iran's response displayed its defensive power. "If Trump claims that Iran has made a mistake, the Americans' mistake is much bigger when they did not assess the possible response of their rival and sent the drone to a sensitive and volatile region which has witnessed unprecedented tensions, war of oil tankers and bombing of airports and water and power plants in the depth of the US allies' territories," Atwan wrote on Saturday. He referred to the remarks by ...

And, according to the study around 80% of the victims were police officers, another 15% of the victims were right wing activists. The Daily Mail reported: The vast majority of left-wing protesters arrested on suspicion of politically-fuelled offences in Berlin are young men who live with their parents, a new report found. The figures, which were published in daily newspaper Bild revealed that 873 suspects were investigated by authorities between 2003 and 2013. Of these 84 per cent were men, and 72 per cent were aged between ...

n a new study entitled 'The Age of Impunity?' by The Policy Institute at Kings College London and Ipsos MORI, 17,000 respondents from 24 countries were asked if they thought other states or organizations were mostly using their influence for good or for bad around the world. As Statista's infographic shows, Iran is considered by the largest share of people to be exerting a negative influence, with 31 percent. A further 20 percent said they think it is mixed, while only 6 percent said it uses its influence for good. Not too far behind though, is the United States, for which 22 percent think currently uses its influence for bad. This puts it in the company of Saudi Arabia (25 ...

Trump: 'Iran Made a Very Big Mistake' (AP) By Newsmax Wires | Thursday, 20 June 2019 10:54 AM President Donald Trump appeared to threaten Iran on Twitter Thursday morning after the Iranian Revolutionary Guard shot down a U.S. drone. "Iran made a very big mistake!" Trump wrote without immediate elaboration. His statement also comes at a time of increasing tensions between the U.S. and Iran in the wake of Trump's decision to withdraw from Tehran's nuclear deal a year ago. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Trump was briefed Wednesday night and again Thursday morning about the drone incident. She said the administration also will keep in touch ...
Tucker Comes Out Swinging Against Robber Baron Republicans! Post Date: 2019-06-22 06:09:47 by Ada

Big business has rarely, if ever, been patriotic or conservative. I never thought that Tucker Carlson would be the one working so hard to slaughter that sacred cow and shatter the illusion that has spellbound Americans for so many years. The Hill: Fox News host Tucker Carlson said late Wednesday the 2017 GOP tax cut supported by the Koch brothers was far better for corporate America than it was for the middle class. For years, the brothers have been the single most important funders of Republican politics in Washington, in the country Carlson said during his opening monologue of his primetime program, adding that Charles and David Koch have been ...
Trump Claims He Canceled an Airstrike Against Iran at the Very Last Minute Post Date: 2019-06-22 05:53:50 by Ada

The first thing to say here is that we have no means to know what really happened. At the very least, there are two possible hypotheses which could explain what took place: 1) a US provocation: it is quite possible that somebody in the US chain of command decided that Iran should be put under pressure and that having US UAV fly right next to, or even just inside, the international border of Iran would be a great way to show Iran that the US is ready to attack. If that is the case, this was a semi-success (the Iranians had to switch on their radars and attack the UAV which is very good for US intelligence gathering) and a semi-failure (since the Iranians were clearly unimpressed by the US ...

The hawks are in their element today, screeching for air strikes and promising cake walks. UPDATE 6/21, 6:30 a.m. As late as 7 p.m. EST last night the military was prepared, on the presidents orders, to launch limited, retaliatory strikes against a handful of Iranian assets, but the White House later called for the military to stand down. According to news reports quoting multiple administration officials Friday morning, planes were already in air and ships positioned, but no missiles had yet been fired when the word came to call of the strikes. While President Donald Trump indicated Thursday that Iran may have shot down an American drone accidentally, Iran war boosters throughout ...
‘We were cocked & loaded’: Trump’s account of Iran attack plan facing scrutiny Post Date: 2019-06-21 22:50:09 by BTP Holdings

We were cocked & loaded: Trumps account of Iran attack plan facing scrutiny John Hudson, Missy Ryan, Erin Cunningham 16 hrs ago President Trump stepped away from the precipice of an immediate military conflict with Iran on Friday, calling off a strike in response to Irans downing of a U.S. surveillance drone. But with the United States and Iran still locked in an adversarial pose, with none of their underlying grievances resolved, the prospect for fresh brinkmanship loomed as U.S. officials contemplated an alternative response. Key Trump allies on Capitol Hill said Friday that they expected the president to order a non-kinetic ...
I Know Which Country the U.S. Will Invade Next Post Date: 2019-06-21 17:45:48 by Ada

We now know that the invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with weapons of mass destruction. We now know that the crushing of Libya had nothing to do with stopping a bad man. By the end of this column, it will be clear which country the United States will invade and topple next. Or failing that, it will be clear which country our military-intelligence-industrial complex will be aching to invade next. We all want to know why America does what it does. And I dont mean why Americans do what we do. I think that question still will be pondered eons from now by a future professor showing his students a video mind-meld of present-day UFC fighters booting each other in the head ...

The Drone Iran Shot Down Was a $220M Surveillance Monster Post Date: 2019-06-21 08:59:09 by Horse

Global Hawks are massive surveillance platforms, in operation since 2001, with a wingspan of more than 130 feet and a maximum takeoff weight of more than 16 tons, equivalent to roughly seven shipping containers of cocaine. They have a range of more than 12,000 nautical miles, can fly at strikingly high altitudes of 60,000 feet, and can stay aloft for 34 hours straight. They have no offensive capabilities; their value lies in their ability to combine range, vantage point, and persistence with powerful surveillance sensors to monitor ground or maritime activity in great detail.

Trade a Democrat for a Republican; trade a liberal for a conservative: It doesnt matter. The War Party remains in charge either way. The people who thought they were voting for Donald Trump because he would extricate America from these endless foreign wars should realize by now that he is just another wuss for the War Party. Donald Trump has expanded Americas bombing wars against Somalia and Syria. He has expanded Americas drone attacks against Pakistan and Yemen. He has expanded Americas ground war in Afghanistan. U.S. wars in Iraq and Libya have never stopped. U.S. wars have killed over 500,000 people (mostly innocent civilians) in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan ...
NYT: Trump was Planning to Attack Iran Thursday, Called It Off At the Last Minute Post Date: 2019-06-21 07:21:01 by Ada

Well. This is certainly troubling. We saw the Donald Trump press conference on Thursday, where it appeared as though Trump was actively deescalating the situation. It was actually quite nice, what he said, and encouraging. Now we have an NYT report claiming that the Potato-in-Chief had actually ordered a missile strike on Iran, and only called it off at the last minute. Ill just say: weve always got this back and forth thing with the fake news, over what is real and what isnt. But I very seriously doubt this isnt true. There would have been hundreds of people involved in this. The one thing that it could actually be is yet another bluff, rather than a last ...

The region around the eastern Mediterranean (the Ottoman Empire) was severely affected by adverse climate during the Maunder Minimum. Most areas suffered drought and plague in the 1640s, the 1650s and again in the 1670s, while the winter of 1684 was the wettest recorded in the eastern Mediterranean during the past five centuries, and the winters of the later 1680s were at least 3° C cooler than today. In 1687 a chronicler in Istanbul, Turkey reported This winter was severe to a degree that had not been seen in a very long time. For fifty days the roads were closed and people could not go outside. In cities and villages, the snow buried many houses. In the ...
US mainstream media taken over by CIA, Mossad: Analyst Post Date: 2019-06-20 22:53:32 by Tatarewicz

PressTV... The mainstream media in the United States are highly influenced by spy agencies, such as the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Israeli Mossad, an American academic and analyst says, noting that Google's recent move in blocking Press TV's accounts was part of the American governments pressure campaign against Tehran. James Henry Fetzer, a retired professor of philosophy at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, made the remarks in a recent interview with Press TV after Google blocked the English-language news network's access to its official accounts on YouTube and Gmail. Condemning the ban as a completely inappropriate measure taken by ...

REPORT: Trump Gave Up on Regime Change in Venezuela Because He Got Bored! Post Date: 2019-06-20 12:08:56 by Ada

We havent been hearing much about Venezuela lately, have we? And there had to be some explanation for that. Business Insider: President Donald Trump is losing interest in Venezuela after a bid to remove President Nicolás Maduro failed and he clings to power, officials told the Washington Post. In April, a US backed bid by the Venezuelan opposition to remove Maduro failed, when senior Venezuelan government and military officials reneged on promises to switch sides and instead stood by the president. According to US officials who spoke to the Post, Trump had viewed the prospect of a US-backed toppling of Maduro as an easy win, at a time when other foreign ...
