As Russia DUMPED its US Treasuries, here’s what it was buying

Global geopolitical conflicts along with trade tensions triggered by the US earlier this year have made some countries follow suit. Last week, we were the first to report that Russia has all but fully liquidated its US Treasury holdings through the months of April and May. In those two months, Russia sold a whopping $80 billion in Treasuries, a liquidation flow that was likely responsible for much if not all the blow out in rates over the period. In 2010, Russia was among the top 10 holders of US Treasuries at $176.3 billion. With its holdings falling to $14.9 billion in May, the country is now below the $30 billion threshold for inclusion on the Treasury Department’s monthly ...

My 10-Year Odyssey Through America’s Housing Crisis
Post Date: 2018-07-22 21:20:29 by Ada

Misery over real estate hasn’t ended—2.5 million homes are still worth less than their mortgages. Here’s the story of one Wall Street Journal reporter’s upside-down American dream. When the housing crisis hit, a charming cottage in a coastal Alabama subdivision became an albatross for Wall Street Journal reporter Ryan Dezember. After looking at several houses along Alabama’s Gulf Coast, we decided the sunny cottage on Audubon Drive in Foley was the one—so long as the seller came down a little on the price. It had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an attached garage, a tidy shed that was painted picnic-table red and a pair of towering longleaf pines. It sat in an ...

PressTV... The largest US trade association for the oil and natural gas industry hails the beginning of “energy renaissance” in the country, yet warning policies by US President Donald Trump could disrupt it. The American Petroleum Institute (API) released an analysis Thursday, announcing a new record in the country’s crude oil and natural gas production in June. #Steel tariff exclusion rulings harm American consumers by denying critical needs of the #naturalgas and #oil industry. https://t.co/a02v2QWb3v pic.twitter.com/eihJE4t5wf — API (@API_News) July 17, 2018 Still, the sector might not thrive and that due to tariffs placed on steel and iron imports by the ...

PressTV... China’s largest independent oil refinery has stopped buying crude from the United States, switching to Iranian oil purchases, amid a trade war with the US and despite American attempts to dissuade other countries from purchasing crude from Iran. The Chinese ShanDong Dongming Petrochemical Group announced the development on its official website on Monday but gave no further details. That policy shift comes amid a trade dispute between China and the US, which has targeted imports of Chinese products with heavy duties. While Chinese crude has not been subjected to US tariffs yet, it appears on a list of products to be targeted with tariffs at an unspecified later date. ...

Nomi Prins - In the Coming Crash We’ll be Falling from Higher Height

Will the next crash be worse than the last one? Prins says, “Yes, it will because we will be falling from a higher height. The idea here is you are sinking on the Titanic as opposed to sinking on a canoe somewhere. All of this artificial conjured money is puffing up the system, along with money that is borrowed cheaply is also puffing up the system and creating asset bubbles everywhere. So, when things pop, there is more leakage to happen. The air in all these bubbles has created larger bubbles than we have had before.” How does the common man protect himself? Prins says, “They have to own things, and by that I mean real assets, hard assets like silver and gold. ...

Utilizing YOUR Treasury Direct Accounts Date: July 13, 2017 Author: Old Shep Did you know that when you were born, your birth certificate was used to set up a bank account at the Federal Reserve under your name? The account number is the same as your Social Security or Social Insurance number. Every time you provide your Social Security number on a legal document you are referencing this hidden bank account. Your Treasury Direct Account was initially funded based upon your projected future earnings potential and, ever since, the money in all such accounts has been steadily growing through a myriad of monetary mechanics such as stocks and derivatives trading, etc. The stock markets are ...

PressTV... Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the three major European signatories to a landmark nuclear deal with Iran agreed to establish trade ties with Iran independent of the US dollar. Since the United States' unilateral move in May to withdraw from the nuclear accord, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), European companies are under mounting pressure from Washington to cut business ties with Tehran. US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that Washington was walking away from the nuclear agreement and that he plans to reinstate US nuclear sanctions on Iran and impose "the highest level" of economic bans on the ...

HBR... The General Electric story, of a long-proud initial member of the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling out of that index — and appearing to be in competitive free fall — provides a powerful illustration of two effects we see throughout today’s corporate world: clueless, but deep-pocketed, activist investors and mergers and acquisitions folks masquerading as strategists. GE’s fall accelerated on October 25, 2015, with activist hedge fund Trian announcing a $2.5 billion equity investment in GE stock, one that made it a top 10 shareholder. GE stock was trading at $25.47 at the time of announcement, with a dividend of $0.92 per share. Trian announced that with its ...

Is it time to diversify away from over-weight restrictions in US Dollar trade. The international business and financial world has long held that diversification makes good business sense. Before the word “diversification” was popularized in business schools and the economic media, the quaint folksy “don’t put all your eggs in one basket” was the simple common sense precursor. We have diversified equity portfolios, diversified forex positions, commodities, ETF’s, multiple market funds and the list goes on. These past few years I have written about the steadily increasing discomfort a number of businesses in several countries are encountering when having to ...

Although my main academic focus was theoretical physics, I always had a very strong interest in history as well, especially that of the Classical Era. Trying to extract the true pattern of events from a collection of source material that was often fragmentary, unreliable, and contradictory was a challenging intellectual exercise, testing my analytical ability. I believe I even contributed meaningfully to the field, including a short 1985 article in The Journal of Hellenic Studies that sifted the ancient sources to conclude that Alexander the Great had younger brothers whom he murdered when he came to the throne. However, I never had any interest in 20th century American history. For one ...

Another country is betting on physical gold. Switzerland's pension fund has boosted its investments in bullion, switching from the paper-backed securities in US dollars. “The Swiss government Pension System decided to change from paper gold in the amount of 700 million CHF into physical gold and store it in Switzerland. The 700 million only stands for 2 percent of the total assets, but it is quite a surprise that they do this,” Claudio Grass, an independent precious metals advisor and Mises Ambassador told RT.com. According to Grass, it is a strong signal that people should take seriously, since a pension fund is an investment vehicle that has a long-term strategy. ...

Billionaire investor George Soros is now investing in America’s controversial personal-injury lawsuits market, Bloomberg reports. Soros Fund Management has begun offering investment portfolios out of lawsuits. The billionaire’s hedge fund is bankrolling a company called Mighty Group, which gives cash advances to plaintiffs in return for future settlements. Mighty Group gives $2,000 on average for legal claims typically tied to car and construction accidents, in exchange for a cut from a settlement. Such advances are typically used to cover rent or medical treatment. The firm faces criticism in the United States for monetizing and encouraging the lawsuit culture in America. The ...

Michael Pento: When The Yield Curve Inverts Soon, The Next Recession Will Start by Tyler Durden Wed, 06/27/2018 - 22:30 Collectively, the world's major central banks have pumped $1.1 trillion into the markets over the past year. The result of all this money printing is now well known: massively inflated real estate, stock and bond asset price bubbles, as well as extraordinary wealth and income gaps across society. Some day all of this insanity will end. But how? Will it unwind in an orderly and polite way, as the world's central planners hope? Or will be disorderly, resulting in painful portfolio losses and mass layoffs? Click for Full Text!Poster Comment:We are ...

PressTV... American motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson, recently celebrated by US President Donald Trump as an example of what was going to go right for manufacturing in the US, has announced it is shifting more of its production out of the US as a result of retaliatory measures against American products by other countries. Harley-Davidson said on Monday it would move production of motorcycles shipped to the EU from the US to its international facilities and forecast the trading bloc's retaliatory tariffs, a reaction to the Trump administration’s tariffs on steel and aluminum imports to the United States, would add an additional $2,200 to the cost of motorcycles sold in ...

The most incredible video of the coming Economic Collapse and the next Great Depression. Today, America is nearly 70 trillion dollars in debt, and that debt is shooting higher at an exponential rate. Usually most of the focus in on the national debt, which is now 21 trillion dollars and rising, but when you total all forms of debt in our society together it comes to a grand total just short of 70 trillion dollars. Many people seem to believe that the debt imbalances that existed prior to the economic collapse and stock market crash of 2008 have been solved, but that is not the case at all. We are living in the terminal phase of the greatest debt bubble in history and a financial ...

The system is breaking apart and crashing all at the same time, the FED is pushing their narrative and they are hoping to keep control, this will be a fight to the end.
