Fans lose trousers to gain entry By Harry Peart BBC sports correspondent, Berlin Hundreds in the crowd were in their underpantsFootball's governing body has explained why up to 1,000 Dutch fans watched a World Cup tie wearing no trousers. Around 1,000 fans arrived for the Ivory Coast tie in their traditional bright orange trousers - but bearing the logo and name of a Dutch brewery. To protect the rights of the official beer they were denied entry, so the male fans promptly removed the trousers and watched the game in underpants. Fifa said an attempt at an "ambush" publicity campaign was not allowed. Fifteen major companies have paid up to $50m (£27m) each for ...

THE 100,000-strong England fans’ army is officially the biggest at the World Cup. The Co-ordination Fan Project, the tournament’s official supporters’ organisation, confirmed the figure last night. It is the largest ever show of overseas support by English fans. And if Sven’s men reach the final on July 9, project chiefs expect the 100,000 will swell to a staggering 300,000. England already have more supporters in Germany than 12 of the other 32 countries combined — and 20 times as many as tomorrow’s opponents, Trinidad and Tobago. The second largest is Poland, with 80,000, then Holland 65,000. Fan Project director Thomas Schneider, 46, said: “There ...

Is barefoot better?

Runners and athletes are always searching for the perfect shoe to improve performance and reduce injury. But some say shoes are the problem, and the best solution may be training without them. Some experts now believe that most athletic shoes, with their inflexible soles, structured sides and super-cushioned inserts keep feet so restricted that they may actually be making your feet lazy, weak and more prone to injury. As a result, barefoot training is gaining more attention among coaches, personal trainers and runners. While exercising without shoes may sound painful, the idea is that your feet need a workout, too. Proponents believe running barefoot changes a runner's form and body ...

Detroit sure didn't look like the NBA champions that they are. Their shooting percentage was horrible. They were out-rebounded as well. Miami wins game 6 and eliminates Detroit. Phoenix and Dallas still have to decide who Miami's opponent will be. Dallas leads the series 3-2 and game 6 is tomorrow night. At the beginning of the playoffs Detroit was the big favorite. Now they're eliminated.

Detroit played great. They shot 88% on free throws. Detroit's back was against the wall and will be in the next game too. it is a very exciting playoffs season because of the 4 teams left it seems any of them could win it all. There are no favorites any more even.

It was a big game. Suns dominated big-time. This is the first of the 4 games played so far where one team really dominated. Phoenix was up by 25 points early in 4'th quarter. Suns need 6 more wins to be NBA champions. Raja Bell the Suns' starting guard who was injured last Friday night was back in the game. Suns played two games without him since Friday and lost both games. Kurt Thomas the Suns' starting center who was injured 2 months ago got in the game very briefly at the end. He's still not back, he's re-habbing, but at least he got in the game. When the Suns play Miami in the finals he will be used to guard Shaq. It's getting very interesting now. because Suns have shown ...

MIAMI (AP) -- The 12-point lead Miami held minutes earlier was whittled to a single point, and Antonio McDyess rose for a dunk that would have given the Detroit Pistons the lead and all the momentum. Dwyane Wade chose that moment to take over. "Guys look at me and say, 'It's your time," Wade said. "That's all you need." He blocked McDyess' dunk try, then had a three-point play 8 seconds later to end a huge Detroit run. The Heat went on to beat the Pistons 98-83 on Saturday night in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals. "Play of the game," Pistons coach Flip Saunders said. Heck, it might have been the biggest play of Miami's season. Wade scored 35 ...

Duke University “Rape” – The Truth Starts To Emerge Posted by admin on: 2006-05-14 00:06:29 RALEIGH, N.C. - A second round of DNA testing in the Duke University lacrosse rape case came back with the same result as the first — no conclusive match to any member of the team, defense attorneys said Friday. Attorney Joseph Cheshire, who represents a team captain who has not been charged, said the tests showed genetic material from a "single male source" was found on a vaginal swab taken from the accuser, but that material did not match any of the players. "In other words, it appears this woman had sex with a male," said Cheshire, who spoke at a news ...
