AUBURNDALE - A transformer explosion and fire destroyed two mobile homes Saturday, Polk County authorities said. The singlewide mobile homes in a park at 2202 Shilah Road were unoccupied during the 6:06 p.m. explosion and resulting fire, but the blaze left two people homeless, said a spokesman for Polk County's emergency medical services and fire department. The explosion ignited one mobile home, and flames spread to the adjacent structure, the spokesman said.
