I have a sister who is now almost 37 years old, and I am writing this without her permission and entirely from my own perspective. She was, while in elementary school, diagnosed as being hyperactive , the syndrome that preceded A.D.D., I suppose. Children for thousands of years have been more prone to run around and play rather than sit still and be quiet, but once someone came up with a name for it, it became a disease. I suppose in another 20 years it will be called something else, maybe Sit Down and Be Quiet You Rambunctious Knothead Syndrome (or S.D.B.Q.Y.R.K.) . My point is that, from my understanding, coming up with exotic names for common human conditions was very much ...

Reported coccidioidomycosis cases in the United States have risen considerably since 1998, according to new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The findings were published March 29 in the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. Coccidioidomycosis is an infection caused by inhalation of Coccidioides spp spores. The fungus is endemic in dry regions of the southwestern United States. Also known as "Valley Fever," the disease usually causes flulike symptoms that are self-limited, but some patients experience severe or chronic pulmonary disease. Disseminated disease occurs in fewer than 1%. "Health-care providers should be aware of this ...

NYT Editors Ignore GMO Health Dangers by Stephen Lendman It doesn't surprise. Times policy is irresponsible. It's unprincipled. It's reprehensible. It's longstanding. It supports wealth, power and privilege. It endorses what demands condemnation. It ignores GMO dangers. Doing so betrays its readers. More on that below. GMO foods and ingredients are toxic. They're unsafe to eat. They harm human health. Independent scientific research proves it. Coverup and denial suppress what's vital to know. Agribusiness giants want all animal and vegetable life forms patented. They want worldwide food control. They want it genetically engineered. They prioritize profits over ...
Big Pharma Criminality no Longer a Conspiracy Theory: Bribery, Fraud, Price Fixing now a matter of public record Post Date: 2013-03-29 00:09:45 by Original_Intent

Those of us who have long been describing the pharmaceutical industry as a "criminal racket" over the last few years have been wholly vindicated by recent news. Drug and vaccine manufacturer Merck was caught red-handed by two of its own scientists faking vaccine efficacy data by spiking blood samples with animal antibodies. GlaxoSmithKline has just been fined a whopping $3 billion for bribing doctors, lying to the FDA, hiding clinical trial data and fraudulent marketing. Pfizer, meanwhile has been sued by the nation's pharmacy retailers for what is alleged as an "overarching anticompetitive scheme" to keep generic cholesterol drugs off ...

But that can cause a world of pain when it comes to working out... One of the most important parts of exercising and developing an exercise program is knowing your limits. Listen to your body! (Reuters) - A government watchdog has issued a warning about the risk for fraud in arrangements under which doctors buy an ownership interest in a medical device distributor and then share in its profits from sales to hospitals. In a March 26 report, the Office of Inspector General said its longstanding guidance "makes clear that the opportunity for a referring physician to earn a profit, including through an investment in an entity for which he or she generates business, could constitute illegal remuneration under the anti-kickback statute." It what is known as a Special Fraud Alert, the regulator was addressing Physician Owned Distributors, called PODs, which are most ...

WASHINGTON, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday approved Tecfidera capsules to treat adults with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). MS is a chronic, inflammatory, autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that disrupts communication between the brain and other parts of the body. It is among the most common causes of neurological disability in young adults. For most people with MS, episodes of worsening function (relapses) are initially followed by recovery periods. Over time, recovery periods may be incomplete, leading to progressive decline in function and increased disability. Results from two clinical trials showed that those ...
Foods Can Help Fight Inflammation Post Date: 2013-03-25 01:37:40 by Tatarewicz

Mar. 22, 2013 Inflammation is the body's normal response to injury. While it may be a natural defense system, it can lead to disease development if it becomes chronic. A University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) expert says one way to fight inflammation is with food. "The inflammation process has one goal: to respond immediately to detect and destroy the toxic material in damaged tissues before it can spread throughout the body," explained Lauren Whitt, Ph.D., UAB Employee Wellness director and adjunct professor of personal health. "The trouble with inflammation occurs when the defense system gets out-of-control and begins to destroy healthy tissue, causing more ...

Set You Free News by Dr. Mercola Fish has always been the best source for the animal-based omega-3 fats EPA and DHA, but as levels of pollution have increased, this treasure of a food has become less and less viable as a primary source of healthful fats. For example, the rate of mercury contamination intuna and other Pacific fish increased 30 percent between 1990 and 2009. About 40 percent of all U.S. exposure to mercury comes from eating contaminated tuna from the Pacific, and roughly 75 percent of all human exposure to mercury in general comes from eating fish. Still, tuna remains a favorite staple among many Americans. This may soon change, however, once people get ...

Dentists who ignore the new American Dental Association (ADA) and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines on radiography may be putting their patients at unnecessary risk, experts told Medscape Medical News this week. Published in November 2012, the guidelines update the ADA-FDA's 2004 recommendations and, for the first time, offer detailed methods for limiting patients' exposure to radiation. "As practitioners we need to follow the ADA-FDA guidelines because it is the right way to treat our patients," John Ludlow, DDS, a professor of oral radiology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, told Medscape Medical News in an email. SYDNEY, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Man's search for immortality is another step closer to reality with a major breakthrough in creating a drug capable of fighting the aging process -- a drug that could be available before 2018 -- after pioneering work led by an Australian researcher with the University of New South Wales (UNSW). The study led by Professor David Sinclair, from UNSW Medicine, has revealed that a single anti-aging enzyme in the body has the potential to prevent age-related diseases and extend lifespans. The paper released this month, shows all of the 117 drugs tested work on the single enzyme through a common mechanism. This consequences are far-ranging and suggest that an ...

Some residents of a New Jersey town will soon be asked to turn over their toenails. Scientists need them to measure if people who live in Garfield near a Superfund site have been exposed to hexavalent chromium. It's a known carcinogen. For the past 30 years it's been in the ground in part of the city. Researchers from New York University want to measure whether residents have been exposed to dangerous levels of chromium. The scientists say toenails grow slowly and retain chromium. The metal spilled out of an electroplating factory in 1983 and was never fully cleaned up. A plume of it has now spread three-quarters of a mile from the site and into a neighboring city. Poster ...

Top Ten ObamaCare Horror Stories The Media Are Covering Up Posted on March 23, 2013 by # 1 NWO Hatr Breitbart by John Nolte Because the mainstream media lobbied every bit as hard as Obama to win passage of ObamaCare, they are every bit as invested in doing whatever is necessary to see that it is perceived as a success. Unfortunately for Americans who expect truth from their media, this means the media are having to manufacture a false reality that says ObamaCare is, to steal a phrase, doing fine. In order to manufacture this phony reality, the media must further sell their blackened soul by violating one of their most cherished principals: reporting on how ...
Mexico facing a diabetes 'disaster' as obesity levels soar Post Date: 2013-03-23 04:45:01 by Dakmar

MEXICO CITY With each bite into a greasy taco and slurp of a sugary drink, Mexico hurtles toward what health experts predict will be a public health crisis from diabetes-related disease. A fifth of all Mexican women and more than a quarter of men are believed to be at risk for diabetes now. Its already the nations No. 1 killer, taking some 70,000 lives a year, far more than gangster violence. Public health experts blame changes in lifestyle that have made Mexicans more obese than anywhere else on Earth except the United States. They attribute changes to powerful snack and soft drink industries, newly sedentary ways of living and a genetic heritage susceptible to ...
Why Do Governments Recommend This Toxic Food Today When They Didn’t A Decade Ago? Post Date: 2013-03-19 20:33:45 by Original_Intent

If we analyze the food guide and government advice on nutrition over a decade ago and compare those advisements to what is recommended today, there is one big differenceone specific food crept up onto the radar of public health officials as if it had some kind of miraculous nutritional benefit for the public. The problem is, 80 percent of this food is genetically modified, contains toxic phytochemicals and is linked to digestive distress, immune system breakdown, allergies, ADD and ADHD, higher risk of heart disease and cancer, malnutrition, and loss of libido. Yet, governments seem to think thats not a problem. Youve probably already figured out that the food is soy. ...

One aspect of drug prohibition that gets far too little attention is the fact that the drug war is immensely profitable for prohibitionists. Ten former high-ranking officials of the Drug Enforcement Administration recently signed a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee criticizing the Obama administration for its supposed lack of zeal in enforcing marijuana prohibition. According to the letter, the administration chief delinquency is its reluctance to crack down on Washington and Colorado, and this is impermissible in light of supposedly sacred international obligations, such as the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs
and the United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic ...
The CIA, James Holmes, MKULTRA, and Truth-Serum Torture Post Date: 2013-03-19 09:07:54 by Ada

In 2002, author Martin Lee wrote an article for Common Dreams: "Truth Serum and Torture." It could have been written yesterday, because now a Colorado judge has stated that, if James Holmes pleads not guilty by reason of insanity to the Aurora murders, state psychiatrists can subject him to drugs that will "help him remember his state of mind" at the time of the shootings. The drugging will reveal whether he really was insane that night last summer at the Aurora theater. Well, when it comes to so-called truth drugs like sodium pentothal, sodium amatyl, scopolamine, mescaline, LSD, and hypnotic benzodiazepines, where are the pros with real experience? At ...
Does Fiber Actually Cause Constipation? Post Date: 2013-03-18 05:00:58 by Tatarewicz

Health Wire - I get a sense that almost all individuals feel better for having regular, easy, complete bowel motions. Should someone be having problems in this area, the usual first-line approach is to up the intake of fibre. This can come in the form of fruits and vegetables, but many will see healthy wholegrains such as wholemeal bread and high bran breakfast cereals as good and convenient options. However, a recent study suggests that if overcoming a sluggish bowel is the aim, one of the last things we should be doing is upping our fibre intake. The study focused on 63 adult (average age 47) individuals who had persistent constipation for which no medical cause could be ...
Sex 'a great cure for migraines' Post Date: 2013-03-18 04:17:37 by Tatarewicz

Many migraine sufferers lie down in the dark when they get an attack - and while they're there the best thing to do is have sex, German neurologists have discovered. A bit of careful copulation can do wonders for those in the throes of a migraine attack - and it even works when a person is alone - said scientists at Münster University, North Rhine-Westphalia. Writing in the scientific journal Cephalagia (headache), they said symptoms were eased for 60 percent of those who had sex at the same time as a migraine. This was a better rate than for many other kinds of headache, their research showed. Die Welt newspaper cited the report saying the scientists had surveyed 350 headache ...
