Scientists warn that drugs of the future will be designed specifically to control the human mind

(NaturalNews) It may sound like something out of a science fiction plot, but Oxford researchers say that modern conventional medicine is gradually developing ways to change the moral states of humans through pharmaceutical drugs, and thus control the way people think and act in various life situations. These new drugs will literally have the ability to disrupt an individual's personal morality, and instead reprogram that person to believe and do whatever the drug designer has created that drug to do."Science has ignored the question of moral improvement so far, but it is now becoming a big debate," said Dr. Guy Kahane from the Oxford Centre for Neuroethics in the UK. ...

Researchers have identified five functions that appear to be the first ones to decline as a normal part of aging: * Processes requiring your attention * Working memory capability, or the amount of information you can work with without losing track * Understanding complex text * Making inferences and drawing conclusions * Putting information into memory and retrieving it later The aspect of your brain function that typically begins to decline first is connected with your processing capacity or your working memory capability. Wouldn’t it be great if there were ways to help maintain or improve your working memory capability instead?* 3 Keys to Promoting Good Cognitive Function I ...

Resveratrol - antioxident value
Post Date: 2011-04-14 04:48:22 by Tatarewicz

Some Harvard-educated researchers believe they’ve discovered a proverbial ‘fountain of youth’.* They’re talking about resveratrol, calling it a miracle ingredient, and the greatest discovery since antibiotics.* Resveratrol is a compound found in the skin and seeds of grapes. Researchers have been mystified for years about how the French can smoke cigarettes and eat high-fat foods, yet still have extremely low rates of cancer and heart disease. They call it the French paradox. Harvard researchers Dr. Christoph Westphal and David Sinclair conducted genetic research to investigate the French paradox. Until now, scientists believed drinking red wine had health ...

Great question. You're right about the importance of a proper acid-base scenario in our bodies. Testing, however, is a bit tricky as it requires not a simple blood test, ie. a poke in a lazy vein, but rather it requires an arterial puncture. We usually do this in the wrist where you take your pulse. Still, it is a tricky spot and needs to be done under special circumstances, not just a regular lab. And it is of course affected by the likes of your respiratory status, function of your kidneys etc. Though we do this test in the ICU and in hospital under specific circumstances we can't routinely do this in community labs. dave... Folate and sperm quality

Sperm quality may influence miscarriage rates. Can a man’s diet improve the quality of his sperm and reduce risk of miscarriage? When it comes to fertility and miscarriages in particular, women are usually the focus, but research suggests that folate can reduce the risk of a sperm abnormality responsible for some miscarriages. Men with diets high in folate had fewer incidents of sperm aneuploidy – a genetic defect linked to miscarriage, failure to conceive and Down’s syndrome. While the study examined zinc, folate and antioxidants such are vitamins C and E, folate was the only nutrient which showed promising results. One caveat of this study is that folate intake was ...

Fukushima Elevated to Level 7 - by Stephen Lendman Fukushima's disaster will scar much, perhaps all of Japan for generations, including fetuses and newborns to be genetically harmed by radiation poisoning. Kyodo News announced the latest news headlining, "Japan ups Fukushima nuke crisis severity to 7, same as Chernobyl," saying: "The government's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) upgraded its provisional evaluation based on an estimate that radioactive materials far exceeding the criteria for level 7 have so far been released into the external environment...." NISA and Japan's Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) estimate that 370,000 - 630,000 ...

Radiation Sickness This page is dedicated to the nameless Fukushima Fifty who knowingly risked radiation sickness and death, with the hopes of preventing an even greater radioactive global disaster.  It is thought that there were about 200 courageous individuals working in 15 minute shifts at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, fully aware of their continual radiation bombardment.  Five have already died and apparently 15 others are seriously ill. No matter the end result, can we salute their courage and honor their valor?  Their sacrifice deserves to be embedded in our memories that they may never be forgotten.  The courage and fortitude of the ...

"The key to making chronic disease better is making a single cell work. If you give the body the things a single cell needs to work, the body often has the power to heal all of the cells of the body. That means you get well!"--Dr. Jerry Tennant Each time Dr. Tennant performed a lasik procedure on a patient, the laser would strike the eye and release viruses that drifted upward through his mask and into his nose and brain. In time he developed encephalitis and a bleeding disorder that manifested as spastic movements and an inability to remember even how to write a prescription. Diagnostic tests confirmed he had three viruses in his brain, but no one knew how to treat them. Dr. ...

Treatments for Nuclear Contamination Posted by Mark Sircus - Director on 13 March 2011 | Filed under Featured, Medicine Iodine – Glutathione – Natural Chelation – Clay – Baking Soda It is too early to call everyone in North America to prepare for a radiation cloud streaming down radioactive particles from the accident in Japan. According to the media and government, America is not at risk due to radioactive fallout from the recent Japanese nuclear accidents in several reactors but that could change in a heartbeat as authorities race to combat the threat of multiple nuclear reactor meltdowns. Nuclear plant operators are working frantically to try to keep temperatures ...

Coffee good for the brain

IS DRINKING COFFEE BAD FOR YOUR BRAIN? Although there continues to be a brewing controversy over caffeine consumption, it appears that a few lattes a day may be good for your memory. According to research published out of Florida, consuming 500 milligrams of caffeine a day (which is the equivalent of 5 cups of coffee), may effectively reverse memory loss in patients with established Alzheimer's disease. In this study, they gathered up mice who apparently had memory issues and gave them caffeine (my guess would be some espresso) and then tested their cognitive function. What the scientists found was that the mice were not only running around like cheetahs, but they also demonstrated an ...

If you are for some reason choosing between rotisserie chicken and a hot dog, it turns out, surprisingly, that the hot dog may be the better option. That's because hot dogs, and similar meats such as pepperoni and deli meats, are relatively free of carcinogenic compounds. A study examined a number of ready-to-eat meat products for the presence of heterocyclic amines (HCAs). HCAs can increase your risk of stomach, colon and breast cancers. According to MSNBC: Pepperoni had the least HCA content ... followed by hot dogs and deli meat ... Fully cooked bacon ... and rotisserie chicken meat ... contained all five types of HCAs tested. Rotisserie chicken skin had significantly higher HCA ...

Health benefits of garlic and onions

If you eat at least 4 grams of garlic a day, your blood pressure lowers. A daily intake of 1 clove of fresh garlic for 16 weeks lowers cholesterol by 21%. The benefits of onion and garlic are well known. Yet, we don't eat as much of these products as we used to. In his book "Hypertension - 80% without drugs" the MN Sergey Aleshin wrote about garlic and onions: "They contain a large amount of sulfur-containing antioxidants, which protect the body against free radicals damage." Many cannot eat this product because of its pungent odor, which is caused by a particular substance - allicin - that has a strong antibacterial effect. Therefore, many drugs are produced by ...

Disease-fighting benefits of 100% fruit juices

LOS ANGELES, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Drinking 100-percent fruit juice may offer disease-fighting benefits, a new study suggests. Fruit juice is linked with reduced risk of cancer, improved markers of heart health and cognitive decline, and increased antioxidant activity, according to the study published on Monday by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). These protective health benefits are similar to those of whole fruits, said the study, conducted by researchers at the University of California, Davis. The researchers came to the conclusion after summarizing recent research data on the potential benefits of fruit juice. The review included a range of study types, ...

Females with the highest levels of vitamin D were less likely to develop age-related macular degeneration, the most common cause of blindness Drinking milk could help women ward off eye disease in later life, say researchers. A study has found females with the highest levels of vitamin D were almost two-thirds less likely to develop age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is the most common cause of blindness. Around 200,000 Britons each year get AMD and there is no preventative treatment, although laser surgery and drugs can limit the damage caused by the condition. It is the commonest cause of sight loss in people aged over 50, robbing people of the central vision necessary ...

Racist? Angry? The answer may be in a pill

A pill to enhance moral behaviour; a treatment for racist thoughts; a therapy to increase your empathy for people in other countries - these may sound like the stuff of science fiction but, with medicine moving closer to altering our moral state, society should be preparing for the consequences, according to a book reviewing scientific developments in the field. Drugs such as Prozac, which alters a patient's mental state, already have an impact on moral behaviour but scientists predict that future medical advances may allow much more sophisticated manipulations. The field is in its infancy but "it's very far from being science fiction", says the deputy director of the ...

CDC and ADA Now Advise to Avoid Using Fluoride

A new study in the Journal of the American Dental Association finds once again that, contrary to what most people have been told, fluoride is actually bad for teeth. Exposure to high levels of fluoride results in a condition known as fluorosis, in which tooth enamel becomes discolored. The condition can eventually lead to badly damaged teeth. The new study found that fluoride intake during a child's first few years of life is significantly associated with fluorosis, and warned against using fluoridated water in infant formula. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is of a similar opinion. According to their website: "Recent evidence suggests that mixing powdered ...

First of all, when you license a plant, you know what you're doing--so it's premeditated. You can't say, "I didn't know." Second, the evidence on radiation-producing cancer is beyond doubt. I've worked fifteen years on it [as of 1982], and so have many others. It is not a question any more: radiation produces cancer, and the evidence is good all the way down to the lowest doses." contents: line 1 [this line] -- ratitor's note line 41 -- begin excerpts ...

Powerful Aftershock Rocks Japan - by Stephen Lendman Measuring 7.1 (one or more other reports said 7.4), rocked northeast Japan, causing more damage and disruption to a devastated area. It cut electricity to four million homes, disrupted power at two nuclear facilities, and according to Kyodo News: "Radioactive water spilled from pools holding spent nuclear fuel rods at the Onagawa power plant in Miyagi Prefecture," according to Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA). For up to 80 minutes, power was lost at Onagawa and the Higashidori nuclear facility. "A small amount of contaminated water spilled on the floor (inside) all three (Onagawa) reactors....In ...

Drinking more than a pint of beer a day can substantially increase the risk of some cancers, research suggests. The Europe-wide study of 363,988 people reported in the British Medical Journal found one in 10 of all cancers in men and one in 33 in women were caused by past or current alcohol intake. More than 18% of alcohol-related cancers in men and about 4% in women were linked to excessive drinking. The Department of Health said it was taking action to reduce drinking. Cancer charities say people should limit their drinking to lower the risk. The study calculated that in 2008 current and past drinking habits were responsible for about 13,000 cancer cases in the UK, out of a total of ...

Fukushima Meltdown Confirmed

Fukushima Meltdown Confirmed - by Stephen Lendman On April 6, Reuters reported that "the core at Japan's Fukushima nuclear reactor has melted through the reactor pressure vessel," Rep. Edward Markey told a House hearing on the disaster, saying: "I have been informed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) that the core has gotten so hot that part of it has probably melted through the reactor pressure vessel." Recklessly promoting nuclear proliferation, America's NRC is notorious for coverup and denial of its harmful effects. As a result, their rare admission virtually confirms a full core meltdown in one or more reactors, meaning vast amounts of radiation ...
