Green tea contains polyphenols which are thought to improve health, particularly catechins, the most abundant of which is epigallocatechin gallate. In vitro and animal studies as well as preliminary observational and clinical studies of humans suggest that green tea can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer as well as beneficially impact bone density, cognitive function, dental cavities, and kidney stones. However, the human studies are sometimes mixed and inconsistent.[6] Green tea also contains carotenoids, tocopherols, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), minerals such as chromium, manganese, selenium or zinc, and certain phytochemical compounds. It is a more potent antioxidant than ...

-Natures Chelators Mercury Toxicity Recently, the CDC has discussed lowering the toxic blood level of mercury in adults to 10ug/dL from 20ug/dL. Is any mercury OK??? Where could I have gotten mercury toxicity? There has been two reported cases of mercury poisonings in pregnant females, here in Asheville, N.C., from tuna and swordfish. Remember those vaccines you had when you were younger? They were preserved with mercury; as are flu shots. Commercial Chelation Intravenous chelation is controversial, as is oral chelation, except in the true case of extremely high blood levels of heavy metals; in which case the metal usually nearly kills the patient before we find the toxic metal. ...
Garlic prevents hypertension induced by chronic inhibition of nitric oxide synthesis. Post Date: 2009-09-28 19:12:29 by Horse

It has been reported that garlic activates nitric oxide synthase in vitro and that chronic inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) synthesis by N omega-nitro-L-arginine-methyl-ester (L-NAME) induces arterial hypertension in rats. In this work, we studied the effect of oral administration of L-NAME for 4 weeks on control and garlic-fed rats. Basal systolic blood pressure was recorded 4 weeks after garlic supplementation, and on weeks 1, 2, 3, and 4 after L-NAME treatment. At the end of the study, the in vivo NO production was evaluated indirectly by measuring the urinary excretion of the stable end products of NO metabolism, nitrite (NO2-) and nitrate (NO3-). It was found that L-NAME induced ...
Cinnamon Prevents Insulin Resistance Induced by High-Fructose Diet Post Date: 2009-09-28 18:58:38 by Horse

Cinnamon extract fed to rats along with a high-fructose diet prevented the development of insulin resistance in the animals, researchers report. Researchers fed the rats a high-fructose diet for three weeks with our without 300 mg/kg cinnamon extract per day added to the drinking water. A group of rats fed a normal diet served as controls. The researchers then analyzed the animals ability to use glucose and insulin. The results indicate that cinnamon extract impacted various aspects of glucose metabolism. Cinnamon appeared to block the development of insulin resistance in the animals. Because the administration of L-arginine blocked the beneficial effects of the cinnamon, researchers ...

Canadian report released on Monday showed. The annual report card by the Conference Board of Canada ranked Canada 10th out of 16 developed countries, with a "B" grade. The United States was the worst performer, placing 16th and earning a "D" grade. "Canada has been at the center of much of the debate on U.S. health care reform. Since Canada ranks ahead of the United States on all but one indicator of health status ... it is clear that we are getting better results," Gabriela Prada, director of health policy at the Conference Board, said in a statement. "But when we look beyond the narrow Canada-U.S. comparison to the rest of the world, Canadians rank in ...
Thoughts on avoiding the H1N1 flu Post Date: 2009-09-28 15:46:53 by wudidiz

Dr. Ben Kim's Natural Health Newsletter September 28, 2009 Dear Reader, I can't tell you much about the actual H1N1 virus, nor can I tell you a whole lot about the H1N1 vaccine that governments around the world are promoting. When it comes to fear mongering of any magnitude, I feel like I've been to the circus and back several times, and I no longer wish to waste my time following the hype. My approach to avoiding the H1N1 flu is no different than my approach to avoiding illness in general. I wash my hands with regular soap and water whenever I use a public restroom and every time I return home. I try to get enough sleep so that I'm not tired during the day. I try to ...

(09-27) 13:11 PDT Wausau, Wis. (AP) -- Waterways across the upper Midwest are increasingly plagued with ugly, smelly and potentially deadly blue-green algae, bloomed by drought and fertilizer runoffs from farm fields, that's killed dozens of dogs and sickened many people. Aquatic biologists say it's a problem that falls somewhere between a human health concern and a nuisance, but will eventually lead to more human poisoning. State officials are telling people who live on algae-covered lakes to close their windows, stop taking walks along the picturesque shorelines and keep their dogs from drinking the rank water. Peggy McAloon, 62, lives on Wisconsin's Tainter Lake and calls ...

Swine flu shot: Intense tracking for side effects By LAURAN NEERGAARD (AP) 3 hours ago WASHINGTON More than 3,000 people a day have a heart attack. If you're one of them the day after your swine flu shot, will you worry the vaccine was to blame and not the more likely culprit, all those burgers and fries? The government is starting an unprecedented system to track possible side effects as mass flu vaccinations begin next month. The idea is to detect any rare but real problems quickly, and explain the inevitable coincidences that are sure to cause some false alarms. "Every day, bad things happen to people. When you vaccinate a lot of people in a short period of ...
NAVY qua guinea pigs INFECTED WITH H1N1 Because of Vaccine Post Date: 2009-09-26 19:43:57 by freepatriot32

he crew of a naval vessel was vaccinated with H1N1 vaccine in order to see what happens. Well, what happened was that the Captain and the Chief Petty Officer died. Worse than that, it has become clear (yet again) that the vaccine actually CAUSES swine flu. If you choose to give either yourself or your kids a swine flu vaccine, you need your head examined. Here is the testimony from Navy wives of the affected crew via the internet radio show A Marines Disquisition, with Drew Raines. www.clipser.com/watch_video/1362067 : Ignore at your own peril. After the testimony is the actual Navy document that orders the vaccination to take place. 1. Unnamed US Navy vessel put to sea in ...

Democrats reject GOP amendment to require health bill to be available online before vote Post Date: 2009-09-24 01:40:39 by freepatriot32

WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Democrats have rejected a GOP amendment that would have required a health overhaul bill to be available online for 72 hours before the committee votes. Republicans argued that transparency is an Obama administration goal. They also noted that their constituents are demanding that they read bills before voting. Democrats said it was a delay tactic that could have postponed a vote for weeks. The Democrats noted that unlike other committees, the Finance Committee works off conceptual language that describes policies instead of legislative language that ultimately becomes law, and which the GOP amendment would have required. Democrats accepted an ...

In the late 1950s, psychologist Robert Jay Lifton studied former prisoners of Korean War and Chinese war camps. He determined that they'd undergone a multistep process that began with attacks on the prisoner's sense of self and ended with what appeared to be a change in beliefs. Lifton ultimately defined a set of steps involved in the brainwashing cases he studied: 1. Assault on identity 2. Guilt 3. Self-betrayal 4. Breaking point 5. Leniency 6. Compulsion to confess 7. Channeling of guilt 8. Releasing of guilt 9. Progress and harmony 10.Final confession and rebirth Each of these stages takes place in an environment of isolation, meaning all "normal" social ...
Flu Nightmare: In Severe Pandemic, Officials Ponder Disconnecting Ventilators From Some Patients Post Date: 2009-09-24 01:01:45 by Brian S

With scant public input, state and federal officials are pushing ahead with plans that -- during a severe flu outbreak -- would deny use of scarce ventilators by some patients to assure they would be available for patients judged to benefit the most from them. The plans have been drawn up to give doctors specific guidelines for extreme circumstances, and they include procedures under which patients who werent improving would be removed from life support with or without permission of their families. The plans are designed to go into effect if the U.S. were struck by a severe flu pandemic comparable to the 1918 outbreak that killed an estimated 50 million people worldwide. State and ...

(Reuters) - Shares of VeriChip Corp (CHIP.O) tripled after the company said it had been granted an exclusive license to two patents, which will help it to develop implantable virus detection systems in humans. The patents, held by VeriChip partner Receptors LLC, relate to biosensors that can detect the H1N1 and other viruses, and biological threats such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, VeriChip said in a statement. The technology will combine with VeriChip's implantable radio frequency identification devices to develop virus triage detection systems. The triage system will provide multiple levels of identification -- the first will identify the agent as virus or ...

An Ohio mother will give up her baby boy to his biological parents after finding out she was implanted with their embryo instead of her's and her husband's. Carolyn Savage and husband Sean of Ohio learned of the mix up 14 weeks into the pregnancy and agreed to turn over the boy after delivery, expected in two week's time. The couple has two boys and an 18-month-old daughter. This will be Carolyn's last pregnancy but the couple has already found a "gestational carrier" for remaining embryos and signed a contract with a woman to be the carrier of their next child. Tatarewicz: Would have been interesting and probably a first had the "biological" mother ...

Immortality only 20 years away says scientist Scientist Ray Kurzweil claims humans could become immortal in as little as 20 years' time through nanotechnology and an increased understanding of how the body works. By Amy Willis Published: 11:23AM BST 22 Sep 2009 Ray Kurzweil claims we could all be cyborgs in 20 years. The 61-year-old American, who has predicted new technologies arriving before, says our understanding of genes and computer technology is accelerating at an incredible rate. He says theoretically, at the rate our understanding is increasing, nanotechnologies capable of replacing many of our vital organs could be available in 20 years time. Mr ...

Sept. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Alzheimers disease and other dementias will afflict 35.6 million people in 2010, about 10 percent more than previously estimated because of a higher number of cases in developing countries than doctors realized, researchers said. The number of dementia sufferers may almost double every 20 years to 115.4 million in 2050, researchers at Alzheimers Disease International said in a report. The reports authors had previously projected lower numbers in a 2005 article in the Lancet. Companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly & Co., Baxter International Inc. and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. are developing treatments to target the disease. The ...

Theyve tried citing exploding health-care costs, the millions of uninsured, and the harm to business competitiveness. Now Michelle Obama has a new explanation of why we need to radically remake our health-care system: The current one is unfair to the fairer sex. Or, as the First Lady put it in a speech last week, women are being crushed by Americas health-care system. Its just another example of the administrations doublespeak scare tactics arent supposed to be a part of the debate . . . except, of course, when the administration chooses to employ them. This time, at least, the claim has some connection to reality: Women do face unique ...

Baucus Healthcare Plan Would "Break Budget" Written by Thomas R. Eddlem Monday, 21 September 2009 01:00 Senator Max Baucus introduced the first deficit neutral healthcare legislation on September 16, but the bill would increase most people's healthcare premiums and still break the federal budget if you believe President Obama's July 22 prime time address to the American people. Back then, Obama stated: We also know that with health care inflation on the curve that it's on we are guaranteed to see Medicare and Medicaid basically break the federal budget. Baucus' bill, the Americas Healthy Future Act, replaces ...

It appears some people are taking the constant warnings about swine flu seriously. Little do they know, they already may have caught it. This mostly mild influenza strain, called H1N1, has been spreading across the nation since April. Health officials say some of those infected have had such light symptoms they may have dismissed them as little more than a stuffy nose or fatigue. Florida Department of Health estimates show that as many as 12,000 of Hillsborough County's 1.2 million people may have been infected with the virus. They vary from people with no obvious symptoms to the six county residents who have died from flu-related illnesses. It's those with the mildest symptoms who ...
