In Swine Flu, Key Moments And Decisions Lie Ahead
Post Date: 2009-05-09 15:23:29 by Brian S

(05-09) 11:56 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) -- The most pivotal moments in the swine flu saga are yet to come. Will it sweep through impoverished Southern Hemisphere countries in the next few months? Will it roar back in the rest of the world in the fall? And who will be vaccinated if it does? In the weeks since swine flu grabbed international attention, and even years before that, some important actions have helped shape the course of this outbreak and the ways the world will handle future epidemics. It's not clear if this new swine flu strain is a brush fire, sparking up around the globe only to fizzle, or if it will worsen when the regular influenza season hits. No matter how this story ...

OK, yesterday on final into Guadalajara, at the height of the flu epidemic, indeed pandemic, predicted to be even more cleansing than the killer flu of 1918, perhaps the beginning of the long-expected plague that would eliminate mankind from the earth, no doubt to the earth’s relief, I was ready for the worst. I had read the papers, after all. I was sure there would be piles of festering corpses in the streets, such as one would expect after a Burundian election. I had read Defoe’s account of the bubonic plague in London, and knew that men with wheelbarrows would be collecting the dead. Especially with today’s littering laws. Except that, when I had called Violeta every ...

U.S. May Add Shots for Swine Flu to Fall Regimen

The Obama administration is considering an unprecedented fall vaccination campaign that could entail giving Americans three flu shots -- one to combat annual seasonal influenza and two targeted at the new swine flu virus spreading across the globe. If enacted, the multibillion-dollar effort would represent the first time that top federal health officials have asked Americans to get more than one flu vaccine in a year, raising serious challenges concerning production, distribution and the ability to track potentially severe side effects. Another option, said Dale Morse, chairman of the advisory committee on immunization practices at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is adding ...

Flu Season This Year Means Shot Each for Swine, Seasonal Types, WHO Says

By Jason Gale and Dermot Doherty May 6 (Bloomberg) -- The World Health Organization has determined that at least two influenza shots will be needed to protect against both the seasonal form of the disease and the new swine flu. The United Nation’s health agency will ask drugmakers soon to start producing a vaccine for swine strain once they finish making shots for seasonal flu, said Marie-Paule Kieny, director of the WHO’s initiative on vaccine research, in an interview. WHO is waiting to hear from Sanofi-Aventis SA, GlaxoSmithKline Plc and other vaccine manufacturers when they are ready to switch to making inoculations for the new pig- derived virus, Kieny said. The virus, ...

Nation’s first face transplant patient goes public

CLEVELAND - Five years ago, a shotgun blast left a ghastly hole where the middle of her face had been. Five months ago, she received a new face from a dead woman. Connie Culp stepped forward Tuesday to show off the results of the nation’s first face transplant, and her new look was a far cry from the puckered, noseless sight that made children run away in horror. Culp’s expressions are still a bit wooden, but she can talk, smile, smell and taste her food again. Her speech is at times a little tough to understand. Her face is bloated and squarish, and her skin droops in big folds that doctors plan to pare away as her circulation improves and her nerves grow, animating her ...

Unreported or Underreported Real Pandemics, Not Fake Ones Like Avian or Swine Flu

Unreported or Underreported Real Pandemics, Not Fake Ones Like Avian and Swine Flu - by Stephen Lendman In his April 29 Global Research.ca article, F. William Engdahl discussed "Flying Pigs, Tamiflu and Factory Farms" and shed light on the current swine flu hysteria - hyped by the same folks who engineered the 2006 (H5N1) Avian Flu scare that had more bark than bite. But it proved hugely profitable for drug makers like Roche and Gilead Sciences, the company Donald Rumsfeld led as chairman from 1997 - 2001 and remains a major shareholder. Although he won't discuss his "private finances," he's likely benefitting handsomely from the current panic. Earlier Avian ...

CALEXICO, Calif. — A food distribution company in Calexico is recalling candy imported from Mexico because it contains high levels of lead. King Midas Inc. said Friday it is warning stores to stop selling Hola Pop, a caramel lollipop with a salted apricot in the center. The candy also comes in other fruit flavors. The company says recent analysis of Hola Pop by the California Department of Public Health found that the candy contained a high level of lead. Pregnant women and parents of children who may have consumed an Hola Pop candy are advised to consult their doctor to determine whether they should undergo medical testing.

Pandemic Nonsense: Flying Pig Flu

Are globalist fear-mongers driving the media to panic the public into universal healthcare solutions? Or federally-mandated vaccinations? By definition, a "pandemic" is an epidemic that is geographically widespread. Fear-mongers are always careful to add the innuendo that millions of people could and probably will die, as in the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 that killed between 20 and 100 million people worldwide. Excuse me, but how does the death of even a few hundred equate to 20 million? Mexico, not the usual Southeast Asia, is the origin of the latest flu outbreak. It has spread in limited numbers to several continents. Almost all of the deaths, limited as they are, are in ...

Regular flu shots this fall, maybe swine jab too By LAURAN NEERGAARD – 1 hour ago WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans might have to line up twice next winter for flu shots — once for the regular jab and again later for swine flu protection. There is no vaccine against the new strain of swine flu that's rapidly spreading across the country. Nor has the government decided if it's going to order full-scale production of one. Regardless, expect to get the regular flu shot. Manufacturers already have a lot of it brewed in advance of fall inoculation campaigns. "If a vaccine for this new virus is prepared, it would be prepared either in parallel with or after the seasonal ...

Under The Radar Media Do not take a swine flu vaccine! Posted in Uncategorized by maasanova on April 27, 2009 by Dr. Patricia A. Boyle Global Research Remember 1976 and the so called Swine Flu outbreak that was purported to be a coming pandemic? It only infected recruits at Ft. Dix. Why? Because I believe that the so called Swine Flu virus infected the recruits due to the vaccines they were given. Whether the government developed the Swine Flu 1976 virus and infected the recruits as a means to test the public to see if people would comply with a call to take vaccination against Swine Flu, or the recruits became infected via contaminated vaccine they were given as part of the recruit ...

So while the U.S. government and now the World Health Organization are taking the swine out of "swine flu," the experts who track the genetic heritage of the virus say this: If it is genetically mostly porcine and its parents are pig viruses, it smells like swine flu to them. Six of the eight genetic segments of this virus strain are purely swine flu and the other two segments are bird and human, but have lived in swine for the past decade, says Dr. Raul Rabadan, a professor of computational biology at Columbia University. A member of the security advance team for President Obama's recent trip to Mexico is suspected of having contracted the swine flu and transmitted it to his family in Anne Arundel County, the White House said today. The man is on the staff of Energy Secretary Steven Chu, who traveled with Obama to Mexico on April 16. He appears to have transmitted the virus to his wife, son and nephew, press secretary Robert Gibbs said. Gibbs said the president has not been affected by the virus and said White House doctors say he does not need to be tested. Maryland health officials announced test results yesterday showing that an Anne Arundel County woman and two children were among six ...

Unless you live on Planet Zod (somewhere the other side of the galaxy), you will know there is growing international concern, amounting almost to panic, that we are facing a deadly worldwide pandemic of swine flu. The actual figures, as of today Apr. 27th, are: 1,614 cases and 103 deaths (not all confirmed as swine flu). After years of trying to will into existence a pandemic of avian flu, the media loonies have finally got what they wanted: something to scream and wring their hands about, trying to induce fear and despair in the population they seek to mind-control. There is nothing the media likes more than fear and panic. They try to create it, every day, in the news and on television. ...

AUSTIN -- Texas officials postponed all public high school athletic and academic competitions on Wednesday until May 11 because of the swine flu outbreak. The move suspends the baseball and softball seasons and eliminates the regional track championships that were to start Friday, said Charles Breithaupt, executive director of the University Interscholastic League. He said league officials acted on the recommendation of public health officials. "The health and safety of our student activity participants is of the utmost importance," Breithaupt said. "Taking every possible precaution to prevent the further spreading of this disease is an important contribution to the welfare ...

The Fort Worth ISD is closing all of its campuses beginning Thursday until May 11. Three of the state's 16 confirmed cases are in Dallas County. The director of Dallas County's health department said Wednesday that swine flu precautions are "not overkill." One case involves a student at Canyon Creek Elementary School in Richardson. Scientists Struggle To Understand Swine Flu Virus

(04-29) 16:07 PDT ATLANTA, (AP) -- Mexico's health secretary may have thought he was allaying fears about swine flu when he suggested that the nation's swine flu death rate was 6 or 7 percent. In reality, that would mean a monstrous killer virus — and no experts are close to saying that. The secretary's comment reflects how much remains unknown about the new flu virus — most notably how lethal it is and why it seems so much deadlier in Mexico than anywhere else. American health officials believe they are getting closer to answering those questions, or, at least, to ruling out wrong-headed theories. "We've begun to knock off hypotheses," said Dr. Scott ...
