Daschle to oversee Obama's health care reform

56 minutes ago CHICAGO – President-elect Barack Obama has chosen former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle to lead his effort to design an overhaul of the nation's health care system and shepherd it through Congress. Announcing his choice Thursday, Obama stressed the link between restoring the nation's dismal economy and making health coverage more affordable and accessible to Americans. "If we want to overcome our economic challenges, we must also finally address our health care challenge. I can think of no one better suited to lead this effort," Obama said of Daschle. Daschle's selection as secretary of Health and Human Services has been known for some time, ...

below is described binaural beats. binaural beats are a tool to induce various brainwave states, for whatever purpose the user chooses. binaural beats could be said to be technological training wheels for the meditator, the psychic adventurer or the adept. probably the foremost psychonaut and binaural beat pioneer was robert monroe, who used various frequencies to induce out of body experiences, replicated by thousands of others, where he mapped the worlds beyond the veil. decades later, multitudes of others have returned with reports of the same out of body terrain that exists beyond the normal range of human consciousness. here is a bit on binaural freqs from spookypedia Binaural ...

Bug out bag basics

This is a (very) basic introduction to what is known as a "Bug out bag", or abbreviated on the internet as a BOB. The BOB is used in emergencies, when you have to relocate to another area. It is to be assembled ahead of time, and kept constantly ready in order to facilitate evacuation. This is a basic item that everyone should have. If not, then don't come crying to me because you end up like the Katrina sheeple ended up, by being packed into a stadium without food, water, security, or sanitation. These people had ample warning, and they still wound up in a real mess. You, on the other hand, may get no such warning. Build your own BOB, please do not buy the pre-made ...

A U.S. President refused America’s outdated cancer treatments

A U.S. President refused America’s outdated cancer treatments -- Here’s where he went instead Americans would be shocked if they knew that President Reagan, while still in the White House, turned his back on American cancer treatments. He secretly sneaked off to a German clinic – and lived another 19 years. Why? Because German cancer doctors are the best – thanks to breakthrough treatments labeled “quackery” in the U.S. (maybe because they cost a fraction of American treatments). Suzanne Somers, Cher, William Holden and Anthony Quinn are among the celebrities who have gone to clinics you’ll discover in my first-ever English-language guide to German ...

Fluoride Exposure May Contribute to Early Puberty

Up until the 1990s, no research had ever been conducted to determine the impact of fluoride on the pineal gland -- a small gland located between the two hemispheres of the brain that regulates the production of the hormone melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that helps regulate the onset of puberty and helps protect the body from cell damage caused by free radicals. It is now known -- thanks to the meticulous research of Dr. Jennifer Luke from the University of Surrey in England -- that the pineal gland is the primary target of fluoride accumulation within your body. After finding that the pineal gland is a major target for fluoride accumulation in humans, Dr. Luke conducted animal ...

The Persecution of Plaxico Burress

Click for Full Text! Plaxico Burress, the New York Giants wide receiver responsible for catching the game-winning touchdown in this year's Super Bowl, accidentally shot himself in the leg with a gun he had in his pants last week in a New York City nightclub. Since Burress' pistol was unregistered in New York, he has been charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in what prosecutors call "a strong case." If he's convicted, Burress – who apparently has never been in any significant legal trouble before – will face a mandatory minimum of 3½ years in state prison for each count, with a potential maximum of 15 years for ...

Click for Full Text! Oh, it was a bad week for modern medicine. But Tara Parker Pope of the New York Times didn’t think so. She wrote an article entitled "News Keeps Getting Worse For Vitamins." (Nov. 20, ‘08 NYT) But then again, we could slip a fast one by Tara any day since she doesn’t know how to read the pseudo-science now being used to denigrate dietary supplements. Hey, Tara, you didn’t say whether YOU take vitamins pills. Never mind surveys show the most educated are more likely to take vitamin pills, or other studies which show the typical American diet leaves most Americans deficient in vitamins C, D, E, B12 and folic acid. Breast cancer cooking ...

1 in 5 young adults has personality disorder (100% voted for Obingo)

CHICAGO – Almost one in five young American adults has a personality disorder that interferes with everyday life, and even more abuse alcohol or drugs, researchers reported Monday in the most extensive study of its kind. The disorders include problems such as obsessive or compulsive tendencies and anti-social behavior that can sometimes lead to violence. The study also found that fewer than 25 percent of college-aged Americans with mental problems get treatment. One expert said personality disorders may be overdiagnosed. But others said the results were not surprising since previous, less rigorous evidence has suggested mental problems are common on college campuses and elsewhere. ...

Democrats may tax health benefits

In the last month of the presidential campaign, it was one of Barack Obama and Joe Biden's strongest attack lines: John McCain, they warned, would "tax your healthcare benefits for the first time ever." But now, some Congressional Democrats in charge of health reform are talking about doing just that. They would not go as far as McCain, who wanted to end the tax exclusion entirely for employer-sponsored insurance, which excludes money spent by employees and their employers on health benefits from income and payroll taxes. But some key Democrats are talking about limiting the benefit for workers, so that those with higher incomes or more generous health benefits might pay ...

Four Aggressive Approaches to Warding Off Cancer

Everyone has cancer. Johns Hopkins recently reminded us of this fact while studying how most of us beat the deadly outcome: the immune system. When it identifies a cancerous cell, it attacks and eliminates it from the body. But every now and then, this system gets hoodwinked by rogue cancer cells. Rogue cancer cells have the ability to become invisible and therefore overcome our immune system defenses. This superpower helps it invade other regions of the body. Internally, we become a playground for cancerous infection and disease. Slow death ensues. Fortunately, anyone can overcome it. To beat rogue cancer cells, you need to eliminate their ability to become invisible. What keeps cancer ...

Statin Drugs: Another Industry-Sponsored Study, Another Deceptive Result

A large, Harvard-led study claims that taking statin cholesterol-lowering drugs reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke among people with “silent heart disease” and normal cholesterol levels. The study, named JUPITER, involved over 17,800 people who had high C-reactive protein levels, which previous studies have shown are an indicator of inflammation and heart disease risk, even among those otherwise considered healthy. The study divided the subjects into two groups, with half receiving rosuvastatin (Crestor) and the rest receiving a placebo. The results showed a nearly 50 percent reduction in the risk of heart attack, stroke, and heart-related death among the statin group. ...

Washington State Voters legalize Physician-Assisted Suicide

”We’re tired of being the sprouts-chewing liberals out in Oregon,” Claire Simons told the Oregonian, Portland’s daily newspaper. “We need another state.” That was in 2004, and Simons, a spokeswoman for the Portland-based Compassion In Dying Federation, was irked that although Oregon voters had narrowly approved a physician-assisted suicide measure in 1994 (and reaffirmed it in 1997), some 10 years later – despite nearly 100 attempts to get other states to adopt similar legislation – Oregon remained the only one where doctors were permitted by law to prescribe lethal medication, albeit that’s to be solely at the request of the patient, who must ...

Proof That Fibromyalgia is Real

Researchers have detected abnormalities in the brains of people with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition whose symptoms include muscle pain and fatigue. Some researchers have suggested that the pain of fibromyalgia is the result of depression, but the new study suggests otherwise. The abnormalities were independent of anxiety and depression levels. Researchers evaluated 20 women diagnosed with fibromyalgia and 10 healthy women without the condition who served as a control group. The researchers performed brain imaging called single photon emission computed tomography, or SPECT. The imaging showed that women with the syndrome had "brain perfusion" -- blood flow abnormalities in ...

Fluoride Added to Children’s Milk in Schools

Fluoride is being added to children’s milk in 42 schools throughout the city of Sheffield in the UK, despite the chemical’s known links to liver and kidney damage, cancer and the lowering of IQ. Fluoride has been proven to have a minimal effect in the prevention of tooth decay, but according to several medical studies, the negative effects of the chemical are legion, far outweighing any positive aspects. A recent study concluded that fluoride can subtly alter endocrine function, especially in the thyroid -- the gland that produces hormones regulating growth and metabolism. Sources: Prison Planet October 27, 2008 Dr. Mercola's Comments: Fluoride, one of the most ...

Deceptive "Protein" Toxin is Becoming More Widely Spread in Your Food

First baby milk formula, then dairy-based products from yogurt to chocolate, and now chicken eggs have been contaminated with melamine. An admission that the industrial chemical is regularly added to animal feed in China has fueled fears that the problem could be more widespread, affecting fish, meat and possibly many other foods. Melamine is rich in nitrogen, which means that it gives low-quality food and feed artificially high protein readings. But extremely high levels of melamine can cause kidney stones, and in some cases can bring on life-threatening kidney failure. However, there have been no tests on melamine's precise effects in humans. Until the contaminated baby formula ...

So I've been looking at comments about Obama's new war plans, not, and something that's been bugging me for a while causes me to post this. I'm curious what you think and what you think we should do, as a freedom forum. When, with all these crises on climate change, energy, food, water, land use, environment, etc., are we going to address the problem of too many people? I'm pretty sure we already have too many people. How should we do that? I think we should have global goals for a population reduction of 50% by 2050, via natural deaths, contraception, and abortion. How do we get there?

How our hospitals unleashed a MRSA epidemic [Seattle]

MRSA, a drug-resistant germ, lurks in Washington hospitals, carried by patients and staff and fueled by inconsistent infection control. This stubborn germ is spreading here at an alarming rate, but no one has tracked these cases — until now. Year after year, the number of victims climbed. But even as casualties mounted — as the germ grew stronger and spread inside hospitals — the toll remained hidden from the public, and hospitals ignored simple steps to control the threat. Over the past decade, the number of Washington hospital patients infected with a frightening, antibiotic-resistant germ called MRSA has skyrocketed from 141 a year to 4,723. These numbers don't ...
