WICCA / PAGAN Hellbound! [Full Thread] Post Date: 2006-05-21 23:42:59 by A K A Stone

In their attempts to dissociate themselves from Satanism, Wiccans have tended to distort their own history. Wicca and Satanism are indeed very distinct religious categories. But there are some intimate historical ties between the two, as even some Wiccan scholars are finally starting to admit. See, for example, Aidan Kelly's book Crafting the Art of Magic (pp.21-22, 25-26, and 176). Wicca is not "the Old Religion", though it does draw inspiration from various old religions. Wicca as we now know it is derived from 19th-century occult philosophy -- including literary Satanic philosophy, among others -- projected onto a non-Christian Goddess and God, plus some de-Christianized ...

Benny Hinn Promises Miracles Trinidad & Tobago Newsday, Trinidad and Tobego May 21, 2006 Sean Douglas www.newsday.co.tt "Why not now, why not here, why not tonight?" American televangelist Benny Hinn kicked off his three-day miracle crusade by promising to heal sick bodies, oppressed lives and lost souls, in a three-hour rally on Friday at Queens Park Savannah. People of God expect your miracle tonight, he proclaimed. He promised to bring miracles to Trinidad, but made no reference to the controversy over his previous visit in which the Maha Sabha had discovered that a man who was supposedly healed by Hinn had died soon after. Hinn simply said, quite ...

Surviving critical brickbats, threats of boycott from religious groups, and a kept-under-wraps promotional campaign, the screen adaptation of Dan Brown's hugely popular novel about dastardly shenanigans in the Roman Catholic Church debuted with an estimated $77 million in domestic ticket sales. Worldwide the Sony release is estimated to have grossed $224 million. "Incredible," exclaimed Rory Bruer, president of distribution for Sony Pictures. "Certainly for an adult movie -- and it kind of skews adult -- anything north of 50 [million dollars] is huge. . . . We always thought very possibly we could be in the 60 range, but when you hit 75 and end with $77 million it's quite ...

Little Blue Book No. 1637 Edited by E. Haldeman-Julius HALDEMAN-JULIUS PUBLICATIONS GIRARD, KANSAS Why am I an agnostic? Because I don't believe some of the things that other people say they believe. Where do you get your religion, anyway? I won't bother to discuss just what religion is, but I think a fair definition of religion could take account of two things, at least, immortality and God, and that both of them are based on some book, so practically all of it is a book. As I have neither the time nor the learning to discuss every religious book on earth, and as I live in Chicago, I am interested in the Christian religion. So I will discuss the book that deals with the Christian ...

Across the United States, religious activists are organizing to establish an American theocracy. A frightening look inside the growing right-wing movement. May. 12, 2006 | A teenage modern dance troupe dressed all in black took their places on the stage of the First Baptist Church of Pleasant Grove, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. Two dancers, donning black overcoats, crossed their arms menacingly. As a Christian pop ballad swelled on the speakers, a boy wearing judicial robes walked out. Holding a Ten Commandments tablet that seemed to be made of cardboard, he was playing former Alabama Supreme Court justice Roy Moore. The trench-coated thugs approached him, miming a violent rebuke and ...
The Nine Principles of the Goddess [Full Thread] Post Date: 2006-05-20 02:25:01 by Pandora

Here is an interesting philosophy. I've always liked this: The Nine Principles of the Goddess 1. I acknowledge that there is one Goddess in essence, Creatrix of all existences; Her forms are infinite, She manifests Herself in our love, and we are all Her lovers. 2. Treat all beings with reciprocity, for the Goddess lives in them as well as in us. 3. Tolerate other religions and do not compel others to join the circle of the Goddess: the Goddess will draw those to Her who are ready and hear Her call. 4. Worship Her by restoring balance to Her planet. 5. Eat mostly grains, vegetables and fruits, so that there will be enough food for all; when you eat thank the Goddess, the provider of ...

Early human ancestors and chimpanzee ancestors may have mated and produced offspring, according to a new DNA study. The study suggests that the human and chimp lineages initially split off from a single ape species about ten million years ago. Later, early chimps and early human ancestors may have begun interbreeding, creating hybridsand complicating and prolonging the evolutionary separation of the two lineages. I find it very interesting that people believe that this is the best way people can be classified in the United States. This is not at all correct. You see, many people who would check White, are not purely White, and so on. Many who would check black are not purely black as well. Many who are Black or White; are a mixture of African, European, Asian, and/or Native ...

Most Da Vinci Code Readers Believe Jesus Fathered A Child, UK Poll Finds Telegraph, UK May 17, 2006 Jonathan Petre, Religion Correspondent The best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code has seriously damaged people's faith in the Christian Church, a survey has found. Two thirds of Britons who have read Dan Brown's thriller believe that Jesus fathered a child with Mary Magdalene, a claim rejected as baseless by historians and Bible scholars. Those who have read it are also four times as likely to think that the conservative Roman Catholic organisation Opus Dei, whose members include the Cabinet minister Ruth Kelly, is a murderous sect. Seventeen per cent of readers are convinced that the lay ...
Why The Fundamentalists Are Freaking Out Over Da Vinci Code : Was Jesus Married To Mary Magdalene? Did They Have A Daughter? Post Date: 2006-05-18 18:48:55 by Mind_Virus

May 16, 200 Skewering the Patriarchs of the Church Why The Fundamentalists Are Freaking Out Over Da Vinci Code By HARVEY WASSERMAN Was Jesus married to Mary Magdalene? Did they have a daughter? Questions about Christ's love life will dominate debate over the release of the DAVINCI CODE this weekend. The answers do matter. But what really counts is the story's pagan/feminist core, and its role in the Culture War. The spin has begun. As freaked-out fundamentalists focus on Jesus's sexuality, and on petty documentary talking points, they'll try to obscure DAVINCI'S lethal assault on the Church's reactionary male theocracy. What's at stake is not the fine points of documentation and ...

Kiryas Joel - The DVD that came in the mail Saturday certainly looked enticing for Orthodox Jewish families.
The package was written in Hebrew; it had a disc tucked inside with a drawing of a robed, Old Testament figure blowing a ram's horn. Anyone who played the DVD found a smoothly produced recreation of biblical stories with a voice-over in the familiar cadences of Yiddish.
But the DVD, which was recently sent to about 80,0000 households throughout Kiryas Joel and other Orthodox communities in New York and New Jersey, carried an unexpected message for intensely ...

Leo Strauss, Conservative Mastermind By Robert LockeFrontPageMagazine.com | May 31, 2002 IN CONTEMPORARY American intellectual life, there is only one school of conservative intellectuals that has taken root in academia as a movement. They are the Straussians, followers of the late Leo Strauss (1899-1973). The hostile New Republic referred to Straussians as "one of the top ten gangs of the millennium." Strauss is an ambiguous, sometimes even troubling, figure, but he is essential to the conservative revival of our time and he offers the intellectual depth we are so desperately in need of. As a crude measure of his importance for those readers who continue to believe that ...

SPEARS QUITS KABBALAH Singer BRITNEY SPEARS has given up on her Kabbalah studies, insisting she has found a new religion in her family. The star was introduced to the faith often described as "Jewish mysticism" in 2003 by MADONNA. Spears, who has not posted a message on her website in over a year, left the brief note, "I no longer study Kaballah (sic), my baby is my religion" on 12 May (06). The message appeared in the "Love B" section of her site devoted to the singer's "stream of consciousness" thoughts. The TOXIC singer didn't clarify whether she was referring to her 8-month old son, SEAN PRESTON, the baby she is currently pregnant with, or even ...

Posted: May 16, 2006 If "such lies and errors had been directed at the Quran or the Holocaust," said Archbishop Angelo Amato, the Vatican's secretary for the congregation for the doctrine of the faith, "they would have justly provoked a world uprising." The archbishop was speaking of "The Da Vinci Code," the Ron Howard film that debuts at Cannes and opens worldwide this week, and is expected to gross $500 million by summer's end. The archbishop's point is undeniable. Blasphemous cartoons of the Prophet with a bomb in his turban, published a few months ago in a Danish newspaper and reprinted on the front pages of Europe's major papers, ignited demonstrations ...

Published on Sunday, May 14, 2006 by the Seattle Times (Washington) God's Own Party by Kevin Phillips Now that the GOP has been transformed by the rise of the South, the trauma of terrorism and George W. Bush's conviction that God wanted him to be president, a deeper conclusion can be drawn: The Republican Party has become the first religious party in U.S. history. We have had small-scale theocracies in North America before in Puritan New England and later in Mormon Utah. Today, a leading power such as the United States approaches theocracy when it meets the conditions currently on display: an elected leader who believes himself to speak for the Almighty, a ruling political party ...

Sunday, May 14th, 2006 Exclusive: Sony Predicts Da Vinci Code $$$ I'm told Sony is looking for a Da Vinci Code domestic opening weekend of $60 million-$70 million from about 3,600 theaters May 19-21, and expects the first 11 days including Memorial Weekend to gross $125 million from U.S. moviegoers. The studio figures to end the summer with an overall worldwide haul of $500 million. (I've already reported that, in Italy, Mexico and Spain, Catholic Moviegoers Overseas Defy Vatican and Sell Out Da Vinci Code In Advance. ) I've learned that one thing worrying Sony is that, since The Da Vinci Code is primarily an adult movie, some of those adults may be siphoned off not by falling MI3, or ...

Why Are Christians Such Wimps? 'The Da Vinci Code' By Henry Makow PhD 5-14-6 When an innocuous cartoon of the Prophet Mohamed was published, Muslims rioted and burned down embassies. But next week, a major Hollywood movie will challenge the veracity of Jesus Christ and Christians are sitting on their hands. I have not read "The Da Vinci Code" but I understand it asserts that Christ married Mary Magdalene and had children. His descendants are still alive. Essentially it challenges the Bible story and the Christian belief that Christ was the Son of God. It transfers Christ's prestige to an Illuminati-like secret society that is protecting Christ's descendants against the ...

The Myth of Redemptive Violence Post Date: 2006-05-13 19:20:08 by YertleTurtle

The theologian Walter Wink (author of The Powers That Be) writes of what he calls the Myth of Redemptive Violence. This myth, he writes, is the belief that violence, especially administered by the State, is necessary and restorative to make people whole. Violence equals health, you might say, or in Orwellian terms, War is Peace. He believes this myth is one of the oldest known, and runs back to the Babylonian creation story, (the Enuma Elish) from around 1250 B.C.E. This story, he tells us, keeps reappearing, even today, even in something as innocuous as children's cartoons. According to the myth, in the beginning Apsu, the father-god, and Tiamat, the mother-god, give birth to all the ...
