Threat to Christians: Convert or Else [Pakistan]
Post Date: 2007-05-11 18:40:02 by mirage

Christians in the tribal Northwest Frontier Province of Pakistan have received threatening letters from Taliban groups informing them that they must convert to Islam within 10 days or else. The letters were sent to churches and homes. Thousands of Christians live in the province, which is largely controlled by the Taliban and tribal authorities after the Pakistan government removed its troops from the area last year. The Taliban religious police have been cracking down in the area ever since. Girls' schools have been burnt to the ground, video shops have been blown up, and there have been threats to local barbers whom they say insult Islam by shaving beards. The police are reportedly ...

The Children of Limbo: Will the Pope Finally Set Them Free?

The Children of Limbo: Will the Pope Finally Set Them Free? By CHRISTOPHER BRAUCHLI From time to time events ecclesiastical eclipse things political. It's happened before and will happen again. On October 31, 1992 it was reported that Pope John Paul II was prepared to close an investigation into the condemnation some years earlier of Galileo. In 1632 Galileo published his proof of the Copernican theory of the solar system, a proof that put him in bad odor with the church since it contravened the Ptolemaic theory that all heavenly bodies orbit the earth. Unsuccessful at convincing the powers that were that his findings did not constitute heresy, on June 21, 1633, he was found guilty ...

SSN-666 Case Looming In Texas H. Lance Freeman May 9, 2007 After several years of wrangling with the Texas government, a crop duster is giving the Texas Department of Agriculture one last chance to approve his application for a pesticide applicators license without compelling him to forsake his religious obligations. Gene McArthur has submitted a religious accommodation request to Todd Staples, the Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). In his request, Mr. McArthur states, “I am prohibited by my religion from identifying with the number of the beast cited by the book of Revelation in the Holy Bible… The Social Security Number is the number of the beast.” ...

Jesus and War by John W. Whitehead by John W. Whitehead DIGG THIS “Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.” ~ Jesus With President Bush’s veto of the recent spending bill, fighting in the Middle East will continue indefinitely – wars not only waged by an avowed Christian president but also backed by the evangelical Christian Right. Rev. Jerry Falwell, in speaking of terrorists, epitomizes the Bush Administration’s stance: “I’m for the president to chase them all over the world. If it takes 10 years, blow them away in the name of the Lord.” In this way, Christianity is joined with the state and its war ...

Atheist offers to send letters post-Rapture

Neither snow, nor rain, nor fire and brimstone will keep Joshua Witter from the swift completion of his appointed rounds come the end of the world. Witter, a 24-year-old self-described atheist living in Orlando, is the creator of the Post-Rapture Post, which bills itself as "the postal service of the saved." For as little as $4.99, Witter offers to deliver your letters to friends and loved ones left behind after the Rapture, when some Christians believe they will be whisked up to heaven while everyone else — the "Left Behind" of the popular book series — suffers a series of tribulations. As Witter sees it, it will fall to the unsaved to serve as the postmen ...

The Palestinian Christian Is An Endangered Species

The Palestinian Christian Is An Endangered Species By Prof Abe W Ata 02 May, 2007 http://Countercurrents.org When the modern state of Israel was established there were about 400,000 of us. Two years ago the number was down to 80,000. Now it’s down to 60,000. At that rate, in a few years there will be none of us left. When this happens non-Christian groups will move into our churches and claim them forever. Palestinian Christians within Israel fare little better. On the face of it, their number has grown by 20,000 since 1991. But this is misleading, for the census classification “Christian” includes some 20,000 recent non-Arab migrants from the former Soviet Union. So ...

Minneapolis Vigil: Hagee’s “Night To Honor Israel” Promotes “Christian” Serial Wars

Minneapolis Vigil: Hagee’s “Night To Honor Israel” Promotes “Christian” Serial Wars Charles E. Carlson May 03, 2007 Christian Zionism, by whatever name and in spite of its claim to the contrary, is a theology steeped in support of recent wars. Most who were once part of this 150-year-old sect, including this author, thought the call to war began in 1948 with the creation of political State of Israel, which state was destined for war by the stated intent of its founders. Fortunately a few visionaries, including the late Phillip Mauro, foresaw Christian Zionism’s warring proclivities many years before the World Zionist movement hatched political Israel. ...

Retired Marine Preaches, Says Killing Terrorists Is An ‘Act Of Love For Our Nation’

TERRE HAUTE — According to retired U.S. Marine Col. J. Tyler Ryberg, the Bible contains messages about war and capital punishment. God is a powerful soldier. Ryberg, who served in the Marines for more than 27 years, gave a sermon Sunday morning at Good Shepherd Baptist Church’s Armed Forces Day, where some of the 150 people in attendance often erupted with an “Amen!” The colonel asked churchgoers if the global war on terrorism was a “just war” and a “God-ordained war,” which he later affirmed. “We’re killing Islamic jihadists, bloodthirsty killers,” he said. “Peace is not an option. You don’t negotiate with bloodthirsty, ...

Jesus Camp God Help Us All! By Alton Raines altonraines@minister.com 5-3-7 I've just finished watching one of the most disturbing documentaries ever produced. It's called 'Jesus Camp' (Heidi Ewing, Rachel Grady/Magnolia) and deals with non-denominational ultra-fundamentalist Christian church groups and one of the bizarre, psychotic camps they send their children to for two weeks of intense brain washing. I label it as such as one who has been inside the ultra-fundamentalist Christian community and not as an outsider merely perplexed at practices or spiritual/religious activities foreign to me. Since I extricated myself from the ultra-fundamentalists some ten years ...

There is an ongoing slander campaign against Islam, claiming that it is a religion that promotes violence and hinting that it seeks world conquest. Before you buy the malarkey that is being produced by people with their own agendas or prejudices or who are just plain ignoramuses, follow these few suggestions: Compare the history of Islam with the history of Europe, which for centuries was called Christendom. An objective look will show you that Christendom wins by a landslide when it comes to violence and wars. After all, Europe and its offspring did not come to dominate the world, including the Islamic countries, because they practiced the gentle virtues of Jesus. As for the common ...

STRONG DELUSION [The Rapture is BS..and many Christians abhor the man-made theory]

For This Cause, God Shall Send Them STRONG DELUSION That They Should Believe A Lie As the rapture doctrine sweeps across America in the most unprecedented fashion in modern history, very few realize that the spiritual trap has been set, the snare has snapped shut, and the prophesied Strong Delusion is already upon us. I’m speaking of the false doctrine of dispensationalism, and the marketing tool of that ungodly system — the pre-tribulation rapture. With the release of the Left Behind book and movie series, the Satanic doctrine of demons has now come to fruition and borne the fruit of its devilish design. While most Christians that have been programmed by the rapture cult ...

May 2, 2007 Falwell and Robertson, Incorporated Would Jesus Wear a Rolex on His TV Show? By SAUL LANDAU As Bush implodes from scandal, a German friend asked why poor and middle class Americans voted for him and other Republicans. Two words help explain this discordant phenomenon: Falwell and Robertson. These two religious swindlers would give him a clue about how the super rich work and the soldiers of God steer the USA -- and maybe the world -- toward destruction. (I almost said Hell.) In 1967, Reverend Jerry Falwell began his "Christian" reproductive apparatus by founding the Lynchburg Christian Academy. His "academically excellent" and ...

HOW do you pray facing Mecca five times a day when you are circling the Earth 16 times every 24 hours? This is one of the problems facing Malaysian authorities as they prepare to send their first man into space. There are others: how to hold the prayer position in zero gravity, ensure that only halal freeze-dried food is in your space cupboard and perform your ritual ablutions before worship? They have all been answered by a team of Islamic scholars and scientists that has spent more than a year working on guidelines for the astronaut. The Malaysian will travel to Russia's International Space Station in October, in exchange for a lucrative arms deal. The Government hailed the ...

Johann Hari: How multiculturalism is betraying women

Do you believe in the rights of women, or do you believe in multiculturalism? A series of verdicts in the German courts in the past month, have shown with hot, hard logic that you can't back both. You have to choose. The crux case centres on a woman called Nishal, a 26-year-old Moroccan immigrant to Germany with two kids and a psychotic husband. Since their wedding night, this husband beat the hell out of her. She crawled to the police covered in wounds, and they ordered the husband to stay away from her. He refused. He terrorised her with death threats. So Nishal went to the courts to request an early divorce, hoping that once they were no longer married he would leave her alone. A ...

Guatemala: "tattooed terrorist" Antichrist denied entry

Guatemala: "tattooed terrorist" Antichrist denied entry It's hard to imagine a country more traditional, and more religious, than Guatemala. For that reason, news that the country is denying entry to a cult leader who tattooes "666" on his arm, calls himself The Antichrist, and whose (alleged) 2 million followers describe him as a living deity -- it's pretty far out. Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda (Wikipedia link) is the head of the Florida-based Growing in Grace church. He runs a 24-hour Spanish-language television network, and hosts a radio program broadcast on 287 stations. Thumbnail at left (Alexandre Meneghini, AP) (link to full-size): A follower of ...

President to look at Jamestown's 'PC' past ; Plans to visit settlement that was founded in 1607 to spread Gospel

© 2007 http://WorldNetDaily.com The president plans a visit May 13 to Jamestown, Va., the settlement founded four centuries ago with the primary goal of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and he'll be aware of complaints that its history is being revised to exclude its Christian heritage. White House spokeswoman Dana confirmed plans for the visit and then promised to look into concerns of a politically correct perspective being applied retroactively at Jamestown when Les Kinsolving, WND's correspondent at the White House, asked her about it. "Columnist Mona Charen reports that Mary Wade, who was on one of the Jamestown 2007 committees, said, 'You can't ...

The Fisherman and His Wife There was once upon a time a fisherman who lived with his wife in a pig-stye close by the sea, and every day he went out fishing. And he fished, and he fished. And once he was sitting with his rod, looking at the clear water, and he sat and he sat. Then his line suddenly went down, far down below, and when he drew it up again, he brought out a large flounder. Then the flounder said to him, "Hark, you fisherman, I pray you, let me live, I am no flounder really, but an enchanted prince. What good will it do you to kill me. I should not be good to eat, put me in the water again, and let me go." "Come," said the fisherman, "there is no need ...

This reporter, Amy Johnson, did a superb job of relaying this story. There was much more that could have been said of course, but not enough books to contain the words. A joyous remembrance Virginia Tech victim Lauren McCain is remembered for her love and faith. BY AMY JOHNSON 757-247-4743 April 23, 2007 HAMPTON -- It looked like a celebration. Balloons with images of soccer balls, hearts and crosses hung off a message board at Restoration Church-Phoebus Baptist on Sunday afternoon. A picture of a beautiful, happy, young woman was placed close by. Her smile looked infectious and her eyes hopeful. She looked vibrant and strong. Lauren McCain was remembered for being all of those things. ...
