PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS GROWING IN THE UNITED STATES
Post Date: 2008-04-25 03:00:05 by IndieTX

More Christians died for their faith in the twentieth century than at any other time in history, says Christian Solidarity International. Global reports indicate that over 150,000 Christians were martyred last year, chiefly outside of the United States. However, statistics are changing: persecution of Christians is on the increase in the United States. What's happening to bring about this change? According to some experts a pattern is emerging reminiscent of Jewish persecution in post war Germany. "Isolation of, and discrimination against Christians is growing almost geometrically" says Don McAlvany in The Midnight Herald. "This is the way it started in Germany against ...

23/04/08 "ICH" -- -- Pope Benedict XVI arrived in the United States last week against a macabre backdrop featuring reports of torture, execution and war. He choose not to notice. Torture: Fresh reporting by ABC from inside sources depicted George W. Bush’s most senior aides (Cheney, Powell, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, Rice and Tenet) meeting dozens of times in the White House during 2002/03 to sort out the most efficient mix of torture techniques for captured “terrorists.” When initially ABC attempted to insulate the president from this sordid activity, Bush abruptly bragged that he knew all about it and approved. That comment and the action memorandum Bush signed on Feb. ...

Thousands flock to exhumed body of saint Padre Pio

SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO, Italy (Reuters) - The exhumed body of Padre Pio, a saint considered a miracle worker by his devotees, attracted thousands of pilgrims on Thursday when it went on display 40 years after his death. Padre Pio is one of the Catholic Church's most popular saints and during his lifetime the monk was said to have the stigmata, the wounds of Jesus's crucifixion on his hands and feet. The economy of this southern town revolves exclusively around the cult of Padre Pio and heaving crowds waited to see his body, displayed in a crystal sepulcher in the crypt of the monastery where he spent most of his life. His face was covered by a silicone mask because it was ...

Faith of Our Fathers [Polygamy]

Watching the polygamists in West Texas come into the sunlight of the 21st century has been jarring, making you feel like a voyeur of some weird historical episode. You see these 1870 Stepford wives with the braided buns and long dresses, these men with their low monotones and pious, seeming disregard for the law on child sex — and wonder: who opened the time capsule? But when Texas authorities removed 437 children earlier this month from the compound of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints they did more than give Larry King something to talk about between anorexia stories of the stars. They gave us all a glimpse into what a religion was like before it took ...

Christian leaders offering a confusing witness on torture

Christian leaders offering a confusing witness on torture Published: Friday, April 18, 2008 8:54 AM CDT Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus On The Family, has criticized Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain’s opposition to the U.S. government’s use of torture. That’s right. Supporting torture appears to be an important issue for Dobson and many of the Christian Right. Dobson’s radio broadcasts, heard locally, have for years faithfully relayed information useful to families and the challenge of Christian living. Where does torture fit into such programs? In an exclusive with the Wall Street Journal published April 2, Dobson did not explain his approval ...

Lynchings in Congo as penis theft panic hits capital By Joe Bavier Tue Apr 22, 1:24 PM ET KINSHASA (Reuters) - Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men's penises after a wave of panic and attempted lynchings triggered by the alleged witchcraft. ADVERTISEMENT Reports of so-called penis snatching are not uncommon in West Africa, where belief in traditional religions and witchcraft remains widespread, and where ritual killings to obtain blood or body parts still occur. Rumours of penis theft began circulating last week in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo's sprawling capital of some 8 million inhabitants. ...

Even when he was at the height of his glory and fame and at the depth of his depravity, Elvis Presley was uneasy with being called the “King of Rock and Roll.” One more than one occasion, Elvis made the point that Jesus was the only King.If only all Christians were as sound as Elvis in their understanding about Who their King really is. I had never heard of Pastor Mark Jeske of Milwaukee until the other day. However, some clips from a sermon he preached – captured on YouTube – epitomize the very dangerous direction in which so many pastors are leading their flocks nowadays. He preaches what the maker of the video calls “The New American Theology of Civil ...

Polygamy: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow?

The current mishap in Texas over polygamy is similar to what happened in Arizona over 50 years ago in a small community just over the Utah border, away from Utah law enforcement, heavily against polygamy. This Fundamentalist branch of the Mormon Church, based on Polygamy, in Short Creek, Arizona, survived. Their leader over 80 was so shocked he died of a heart attack still fathering babies at his age. The children wanted their mothers, their fathers, and home life. In time the whole thing became a debacle for the government of Arizona. Recently I visited Short Creek now called Colorado City. The community at Short Creek is flourishing as far as I could tell. Women wore the same long dresses ...

Comedian Bill Maher can be funny, but I don't like him. He can't resist attacking various religious leaders, as he did on the occasion of the visit by Pope Benedict XVI. It's not a free-speech issue. It's an issue of good judgment and good taste, or more specifically the lack thereof. Just because we can do something or say something doesn't mean we should. I personally don't think people's faith, whatever it is, should be mocked, nor their religious leaders ridiculed. Why give religious leaders a free pass? Because it is a serious thing to cause someone to lose his or her faith. It's not the same as learning that your favorite movie star is a mean drunk or ...

Christians clash at Jesus' tomb on Orthodox Palm Sunday By SARAH EL DEEB Associated Press Writer 1:49 PM CDT, April 20, 2008 JERUSALEM Dozens of Greek and Armenian priests and worshippers exchanged blows at one of Christianity's holiest shrines on Orthodox Palm Sunday, and used palm fronds to pummel police who tried to break up the brawl. The fight came amid growing rivalry over religious rights at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, built over the site in Jerusalem where tradition says Jesus was buried and resurrected. It erupted when Armenian clergy kicked out a Greek priest from their midst, pushed him to the ground and kicked him, according to witnesses. When police ...

Collectivist Child Abuse (Fourth Update, 4/18)

Support your local child-snatchers: Combat-ready paramilitaries from the Midland County Sheriff's Department chill next to their LESO-provided APC during the raid on the YFZ Ranch. UPDATE -- Judge Walther has ruled -- and wasn't the suspense terrific? -- that the 416 abducted FLDS children will remain in "temporary" state custody. This, despite the fact (as explained below), that the abuse report that provided the pretext for the raid was contrived. This, despite the admission, under oath, of Bruce Perry of the ChildTrauma Academy -- an "expert" witness on behalf of the state -- that the foster care system "would be destructive to these kids." As ...

April 20, 2008 Pope Speaks Up for Immigrants, Touching a Nerve By DANIEL J. WAKIN and JULIA PRESTON Even as he was flying to the United States, Pope Benedict XVI spoke of protecting immigrant families, not dividing them. He raised the issue again in a meeting on Wednesday with President Bush, and later that day spoke in Spanish to the church’s “many immigrant children.” And when he ends his visit to New York on Sunday, he will be sent off by a throng of the faithful, showing off the ethnic diversity of American Catholicism. The choreography underscores the importance to the church here of its growing diversity — especially its increasing Hispanic membership. Of the ...

Pope tells of youth under Nazis Pope Benedict urged the young people to cherish their freedoms Pope Benedict XVI has spoken out for the first time about growing up under the "monster" of Nazism. Speaking at a youth rally in New York, he said his teenage years had been "marred by a sinister regime". The Pope was a Hitler Youth member as a teen, usual for young Germans at the time, and was conscripted by the German army near the end of World War II. Earlier, during a Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan he again condemned paedophile Catholic priests. Pope Benedict's tour of the US is his first visit to the country since being elected ...

Reverend Jeremiah Wright: Religious Freedom Versus State Religion, Ethics, Politics and StrategyBy Prof. James PetrasGlobal Research, April 19, 2008 Introduction The sustained vituperative attack and the feeble apologetic defense of Reverend Wright’s brilliant, eloquent and substantive sermon in defense of human dignity speaks to the basic ethical, political and strategic issues of our epoch. For Reverend Wright was not merely ‘commenting’ on an ethical omission of our day but raising fundamental principles about the behavior of states, the role of individual conscience in the face of crimes against humanity and the need to give name and take action in the face of evil. The ...

More on Pope Joey and the Vatican’s rap sheetBy Jerry MazzaOnline Journal Associate Editor Apr 18, 2008, 00:20 To all of you who thought my article, Pope Joey’s rap sheet, was not fair or, believe it or not complete enough, I went back to the research-and-email well and hauled up these pearls. Let’s start with a picture of Ratzinger as Hitler Youth for all you doubting Thomases. This is the winter uniform. The spring/summer uniform which I originally described, shirt, tie, long shorts, high socks, bandolier, and swastika armband, that picture has been washed from the Internet. “Sorry, this page is no longer available.” So, the long arm of the censor has been ...

This pro-Communist view appears to have been the mindset of Frank Marshall Davis, who spent many hours advising and reading poetry to a young Barack Obama. Barack Obama’s childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Moscow-controlled Communist Party USA, wrote a poem dedicated to the Soviet Red Army. “Smash on, victory-eating Red Army,” he declared. He also wrote poems attacking traditional Christianity and the work of Christian missionaries. The “Red Army” poem goes beyond hoping for the communists to beat the Nazis in World War II and hails the Soviet revolution. It says: “Show the marveling multitudes Americans, British, all your allied ...

US Government, Talmud Mock New Testament By Rev. Ted Pike 4-17-8 The U.S. State Dept.'s Office of Global Anti-Semitism now says the New Testament is a book of conspiracy theory! Yes, our government now rules that the Biblical record that Jews had Christ crucified is not only anti-Semitic; it's conspiracy junk. This step toward criminalization of Christian beliefs directly threatens believers. It is also an act of blatant hypocrisy: While the New Testament is derided as "hate speech," not a word is said about the seething hatred contained in Judaism's most sacred book, the Talmud. The State Department reports, "The tactics of many anti-Semitic groups include ...

People of Faith Have Better Sex Than 'Swingers,' Says Pastor By SUSAN DONALDSON JAMES April 15, 2008 32; 32;32; More evangelical couples -- once embarrassed and prudish about sex -- are now leaving their Christian inhibitions at the bedroom door. 32; Pastors and counselors are offering sex advice to Christians once riddled with guilt. A holy roll in the hay is now encouraged for stronger marital bonds. (PhotoDisc) For this growing group of younger, more progressive Christians, guilt is out and pleasure is in. "We discovered that God's word is holy and hot … filled with invaluable wisdom for our sexual relationship," says ...

A Texas crop duster has been told that he cannot apply for renewal of his pesticide applicator's license unless he is willing to forgo the obligations of his religion. For a number of years, Gene McArthur, had flown as commercial pilot for Texas company contracted by the Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation. Besides having a commercial pilot's license, McArthur had a commercial pesticide applicator's license to comply with contract obligations, until he came up against Section 666 of the Federal Health and Human Services Code (§666). Section 666, paragraph (a)(13) directed states receiving federal welfare funds to require applicants for professional, occupational, ...

"You Fools! You Hypocrites! You Snakes!" [Meet the Real Jesus Many Hate] The title of this paper is taken from the very words of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, spoken to the Scribes and Pharisees in Jerusalem. Let’s take a Scriptural look at a side of Jesus that most Christians will not believe, even when they see Him in their own Bibles. Who were the Scribes and Pharisees? The Pharisees were not the priests, but rather people from all walks of life who were very pious and strict keepers of the Law of Moses. They constantly adjusted the Law to fit the changing world according to their traditions and own desires. Among the more educated of the Pharisees were the rulers ...

Polygamist sect gets millions from U.S. government

FT. WORTH, Tex. _American taxpayers have unwittingly helped finance a polygamist sect that is now the focus of a massive child abuse investigation in West Texas, with a business tied to the group receiving a nearly $1 million loan from the federal government and $1.2 million in military contracts. The ability of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, to operate and grow is largely dependent on huge contributions from its members and revenue from the businesses they control, according to a former accountant for the church, and government officials in Utah and Arizona, where the sect is primarily based. One of those businesses, NewEra Manufacturing in Las ...

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The mothers of children removed from a West Texas polygamist sect's ranch after an abuse allegation are appealing to Gov. Rick Perry for help. In a letter sect members say was mailed to Perry on Saturday, the mothers from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints claim some of their children have become sick and even required hospitalization. They also say children have been questioned about things they know nothing about since they were placed in the legal custody of the state. Perry's spokesman Robert Black said Sunday that he has not seen the letter and couldn't comment. Some 416 children were rounded up and placed in ...
