NASHVILLE, Tenn. — When it comes to country music, George Jones was The Voice. Other great singers have come and gone, but this fact remained inviolate until Jones passed away Friday at 81 in a Nashville hospital after a year of ill health. "Today someone else has become the greatest living singer of traditional country music, but there will never be another George Jones," said Bobby Braddock, the Country Music Hall of Fame songwriter who provided Jones with 29 songs over the decades. "No one in country music has influenced so many other artists." He did it with that voice. Rich and deep, strong enough to crack like a whip, but supple enough to bring tears. It ...

Woman Calls 911, Asks Police For Help Getting Refund From Her Drug Dealer After handing over her last $50 to a drug dealer for cocaine and marijuana, a Florida woman suffering from buyer’s remorse called 911 and asked cops for help in securing a refund. Katrina Tisdale, 47, explained to St. Petersburg police that she would be penniless until her next Social Security disability check arrived. Hence the pressing need to recover her $50 from the unnamed narcotics salesman. Despite Tisdale’s explanation for her two calls to 911 Monday evening, officers arrested her for misusing the police emergency system. Seen in the above mug shot, Tisdale was booked into the Pinellas County ...

Prostitution is legal in Germany, but the Green party says it wants tighter regulation of the sex industry by proposing a law forcing clients to get certificate of clean health from a doctor before heading to the brothel. The Greens were a leading force decriminalizing the world's oldest profession over a decade ago, but recent changes in the sex work world are pushing them to call for new rules, Süddeutsche Zeitung reported on Thursday. At a conference later this month, the party will put forward a raft of changes in its election platform – including making punters prove they are disease-free before having sex with a prostitute. This idea is being championed by ...

by Scott Creighton UPDATE: April 21 – Boston Bombing: MSM Creates New Official Story – Video of Dzhokhar Planting Bomb is Forgotten UPDATE: Tony Cartalucci, BLN Contributing Writer, came to the same conclusion —— Why would the FBI need to enlist our help to identify someone they fully investigated less than 2 years ago? If you take the statements made by the family members of the Tsarnaev brothers separately you come to the understanding that something is horribly wrong with the official story of what happened at the Boston marathon bombing. You just can’t put your finger on it. “He was controlled by the FBI, like for three, five years,” But if you ...

A Monash University biologist was part of a national research team that has shed new light on how women take into account male body shape, height and size of genitalia to determine the sexual appeal of men. The study was conducted by Dr Bob Wong, from the School of Biological Sciences, together with researchers from The Australian National (ANU) and La Trobe University. Their findings were revealed today in the journal, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. The researchers projected life-size, 3D computer-generated male bodies to 105 female participants with the images differing in height, body shape and penis size, and asked them to assess the figures’ sexual ...

Post-Wall children more likely to be criminals Children conceived in the chaos of collapsing East Germany just after the Berlin Wall fell are way more likely to be criminals than almost anyone else in the country, a new study shows. The birth rate dropped by half during the three years immediately after the huge upheaval that saw the entire political system of communist East Germany swept away as it was reunified with the capitalist West. Those who were born then have done particularly badly and are 50 percent more likely to be criminals, the research says. The fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 and reunification the following year created enormous uncertainty for people in the ...

A fisherman has been bitten to death by a beaver after trying to take its photograph. The man was on a fishing trip at Lake Shestakov in Belarus with two friends when they spotted the animal on the side of the road. He stopped so that he could take a picture but as he approached the beaver it pounced on him, biting him in the thigh. His friends attempted to stem the flow of blood from the wound but the animal’s bite had severed a main artery and the man, who came from Brest, bled to death. Beaver attacks are rare and according to experts those animals that do go for humans are usually rabid. Click for Full Text! Poster Comment: It can be dangerous trying to photograph beaver.

An Argentine man who thought he bought a pair of poodles at an outdoor market in Buenos Aires brought them home to the vet only to be told they were actually ferrets on steroids, reports the Daily Mail. The man, a retiree from Catamarca, purchased the animals at La Salada, Argentina's largest bazaar. The veterinarian informed him the ferrets "had been given steroids at birth to increase their size and then had some extra grooming to make their coats resemble a fluffy toy poodle," the paper says, translating a report from a local Argentine TV station. He paid $150 per poodle. Another woman interviewed by the station said she was tricked into thinking she had purchased a ...

BOAO, Hainan, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The latest piece of advice from Nobel Prize-winning economist Edmund Phelps for China to promote innovation had to do with a group rarely mentioned in government documents or official languages: Chinese mothers. Speaking at a forum in south China's Hainan Province, the Columbia University professor warned that lack of entrepreneurial spirit is impairing China's innovation drive and also overshadowing the economic recovery in the United States. Citing a recent Wall Street Journal report, Phelps described many students in prestigious Chinese universities being encouraged by their mothers to find secure government jobs instead of venturing into ...
