Putin Bashing - by Stephen Lendman On September 24, Russia's Vladimir Putin announced he'll run again for president in 2012 after serving eight years as Dmitry Medvedev's Prime Minister. America's media have better memories than elephants. In November 2007, they recall Putin on National Unity Day telling military cadets and youth groups that while: "an overwhelming majority of people in the world," are friendly toward Russia, some "keep saying to this day that our nation should be split. Some believe that we are too lucky to possess so much natural wealth, which they say must be divided." In a thinly veiled reference to America, he added, ...

'I don't get anything out of sex with prostitutes except for a bad feeling," says Ben. An apparently average, thirtysomething, middle-class man, Ben had taken an extended lunchbreak from his job in advertising to talk about his experiences of buying sex. Shy and slightly nervous, he told me, "I am hoping that talking about it might help me work out why I do it." I, too, was hoping to understand his motives better. Ben was one of 700 men interviewed for a major international research project seeking to uncover the reality about men who buy sex. The project spanned six countries, and of the 103 customers we spoke to in London where I was one of the researchers ...

Mozart motivates sewage treatment microbes Post Date: 2011-09-24 07:41:03 by Tatarewicz

Operators of a sewage treatment plant in eastern Germany have saved around 10,000 over the last year apparently by playing Mozart to their microbes. They are now calling for scientists to come and investigate. Roland Meinusch, manager of the plant in Treuenbrietzen, Brandenburg, said the plant some 70 kilometres southeast of Berlin produced 1,000 cubic metres less sewage sludge than normal last year and the only thing he had changed was the music. We play them Mozarts Magic Flute, on a half-hour loop, he told The Local. The better the microbes work, the more they digest the sewage, producing more clean water and less sludge. And the less ...
Penis enlargements popular in Germany Post Date: 2011-09-24 07:23:15 by Tatarewicz

Doctors say increasing numbers of German men are paying for surgery to their genitals, surprising even plastic surgeons with their demand for enlargement operations. Penis enlargements are now in seventh place among aesthetic surgery procedures for men, said Sven von Saldern, the president of the German Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. That surprised even us. Yet he was at pains to emphasis that the operation increases size but does not necessarily improve function. It is a purely aesthetic procedure, he said. The most popular procedure for men remains liposuction, he said, referring to a survey of 1,100 plastic surgery patients. Although ...

A man who burned to death in his home died as a result of spontaneous combustion, an Irish coroner has ruled. It is believed to be the first case of its kind in Ireland. West Galway coroner Dr Ciaran McLoughlin said it was the first time in 25 years of investigating deaths that he had returned such a verdict. Michael Faherty, 76, died at his home at Clareview Park, Ballybane, Galway on 22 December 2010. An inquest in Galway on Thursday heard how investigators had been baffled as to the cause of death. Forensic experts found a fire in the fireplace of the sitting room where the badly burnt body was found had not been the cause of the blaze that killed Mr Faherty. The court was told ...

The Most Unlikely Bull Market in America Right Now By Ian Cooper | Thursday, September 22nd, 2011 Theres a household product you use every single day that has increased more in value this year than gold. Its even on par with silver, which is up a smokin' hot 38%. Unlike bars of gold or silver, you can buy this product at any Wal-Mart, Home Depot, or Target... But in the weeks and months to come, I expect speculators to buy up all the available supply at these stores in attempts to sell them to consumers at much higher prices. Think of it like professional scalpers who purchase U2 tickets the first day they go on sale, then sell to panicked fans weeks later at a 300% ...

"From award-winning filmmakers Annie Sundberg and Ricki Stern (The Devil Came on Horseback and The Trials of Darryl Hunt) comes the provocative and expertly crafted film, THE END OF AMERICA, based on The New York Times best seller by the same name. In a stunning indictment of sweeping policy changes during the Bush years, author Naomi Wolf (The Beauty Myth) makes a chilling case that American democracy is under threat. Investigating parallels between our current situation and the rise of dictators and fascism in once-free societies, Wolf uncovers a number of deeply unsettling similaritiesfrom the use of paramilitary groups and secret prisons to the targeted suspension of the ...

Why investigate those organizations who do so much good in society, like the Ford and Rockefeller Foundations, the Carnegie Endowment, or the Guggenheim Fund? The investigation focused on whether any of these organizations were undertaking un-American activities, ...
