New York Times Disinformation, Denial and Suppressing Vital Truths

New York Times Disinformation, Denial and Suppressing Vital Truths - by Stephen Lendman America's "newspaper of record" makes painful reading for alternative media consumers, knowledgeable about what Times correspondents, opinion contributors and editorial writers misreport, conceal, or lie outrageously about. For example, writer CJ Chivers' August 12 "Notes From the Front Lines" piece practically lionized cutthroat rebels, embedded with them to present their point of view only, saying: "Just who are the rebels who have taken up arms against (Gaddafi), and how do they fight?" Instead of explaining accurately, Chivers discusses a battle, reading more ...

Laptop doesn't recognize any .exe files

My son has a Toshiba Satellite L305 laptop running Windows Vista. I don't know what he did but the system does not recognize .exe files, therefore no application works and I can't even reinstall Windows. I'm assuming he has a virus but cannot prove it since AVG won't run. I also tried to install Ubuntu, but the computer will not recognize the .exe file to open infra recorder. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can fix this problem I would appreciate it.

Toilet cleaner hid €40,000 in small coins from Germany's taxman

Officials in Bonn are counting pennies after raiding a woman thought to have hoarded around €40,000 in small-denomination coins she earned looking after public toilets – and failed to declare to the tax office. The tabloid Express paper reported on Friday that the woman had operated in around 50 public toilets across Germany, paying a pittance to helpers to keep the loos clean and collect coins of gratitude from punters. It seems her lack of generosity was her undoing and one of her helpers tipped off the state prosecutor, the paper reported. When officials showed up to her house and rang the bell she ignored them, instead racing to the back of her home and throwing files out ...

LAS VEGAS (Hollywood Today) 8/10/11 – Hackers have built a DIY flying drone that can launch remote attacks which astounded attendees at the Black Hat/Defcon meet here. The hackers built their drone for about $6,000, while the CIA coughs up about S4.5 million each for their Predator drones. Though it doesn’t fire a pair of Hellfire missiles like the CIA models, the hacker drone has some serious teeth. Hackers could use them to to intercept all wifi traffic and steal credit card numbers, fly above corporations to steal intellectual property and other data from a network, as well as launch denial-of-service or man-in-the-middle attacks. They could also transmit a cell phone ...

Not Good Dismal Racial Premonitions

Like everyone else, I suppose, I've been watching the racial riotsthat have erupted across England. The newsies of the BBC carefully avoided saying who was rioting, vandalizing, and stealing, and the footage was all fuzzy long shots or of rioters from the back. They were, however, as a reporter for The Independent pointed out, heavuly black. The crime stats for London reflect the same pattern. There was the usual puzzled, or pseudo-puzzled wondering: Why did the “youths”--they are always called youths—doing it? Curiously, it was a black conservative on Hardtalk (of the BBC) who said it: the rioters were , criminal, unsocialized to civilized norms and simply wanted to rob ...

The Mossad, Israel's foreign intelligence agency, attacked the Iranian nuclear program with a highly sophisticated computer virus called Stuxnet. The first digital weapon of geopolitical importance, it could change the way wars are fought -- and it will not be the last attack of its kind. Info The complex on a hill near an interchange on the highway from Tel Aviv to Haifa is known in Israel simply as "The Hill." The site, as big as several soccer fields, is sealed off from the outside world with high walls and barbed wire -- a modern fortress that symbolizes Israel's fight for survival in the Middle East. As the headquarters of Israel's foreign intelligence agency, ...

Michael Roll, a rationalist and freethinker who heads The Campaign for Philosophical Freedom, is unofficial spokesman for the group. He has recently revealed information that could drastically alter humankind's entire belief system regarding continuation of consciousness beyond the grave. Roll, of Bristol, England, a former businessman, is a long-time explorer of paranormal phenomena. He and his colleagues' series of ...

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4- year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words: Dear God, Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her. ...

Albert Camus died instantly when the car he was travelling in spun off the road in icy conditions and hit a tree An Italian newspaper suggests that the KGB might have been behind the crash that led to the killing of French literary giant Albert Camus in 1960. Corriere della Sera claims that there may have been a secret behind the accident, stressing that Soviet spies may have killed Camus for criticizing the Soviet Union. The newspaper presented the theory based on the remarks of Italian academic and poet Giovanni Catelli who noted that a passage in a diary written by Czech poet and translator Jan Zabrana and published as a book entitled Cely Zivot was missing from the Italian ...

SPIEGEL: On that Aug. 6, Tim Berners-Lee, creator of the World Wide Web, made his invention accessible to the Internet community. He did so in a discussion forum called alt.hypertext ... I don't see why people pay good money to go to the beach when I get the same conditions or worse for free :p Pavement temp is 142F, highway dept was spraying water on a new section of highway to keep it from buckling due to the heat. I've had to adjust the bi-level temperature setting on my truck to blow more cold air into the footwells to counter the heat radiating up from the pavement. Yard is showing large cracks in ...

Shop owners in Northeast China's Fangzheng county have been ordered to use Chinese-Japanese bilingual store signs or they will not be granted a business license, Nanfang Daily reported. The local license body confirmed the new rule in a telephone interview with the newspaper on Monday. But the worker with the industrial and commercial bureau refused to elaborate on the ruling saying the local government and construction commission were responsible. Calls to the government and construction commission went unanswered though. Located in the east of Harbin in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, Fangzhen county boasts having more than 38,000 Chinese overseas, among who 35,000 ...
