An economic development expert says Canada's decision to deport a South Korean family sends the wrong message to would-be immigrants. The Department of Citizenship and Immigration told New Brunswick's Maeng family they have to leave Canada by the end of the month because care for their youngest son, who is epileptic and autistic, is too expensive. Sung-Joo Maeng, 15, was diagnosed with autism and epilepsy at age five. His father, Tae-Shik Maeng, and his mother, Hee-Eun Jang, moved the family to Canada with the hope of getting help to treat their son's illnesses. The family has owned and operated Moncton's Main Stop Oriental Market on West Main Street for several years. ...

IE6 countdown campaign, BBC Microsoft has run an extended campaign to get people to abandon IE6 - one of its older browsers. Google is phasing out support for older browsers from 1 August. Those using IE7, Safari 3, Firefox 3.5 and their predecessors to view Gmail, Google Calendar, Talk, Docs and Sites will then lose some functions. Eventually, it warned, these web services will stop working for those sticking with older browsers. The move is part of a trend to stop the use of ageing browsers which can be insecure and not sophisticated enough to handle the latest web technologies. The German phrase Leck mich am Arsch, the equivalent of kiss my ass, has been officially ruled an insult by a court in Kaiserslautern. The district court revised an earlier ruling in a case involving a man who uttered the phrase to a policeman at a train station in the western state of Rhineland-Palatinate. The man responded with the rude remark after the officer asked him not to smoke. A lower court had originally acquitted the man of insulting the policeman, arguing the phrase was a common colloquial form of speech in the state. But the chamber overturned the ruling and imposed a fine after an appeal by state prosecutors. German law criminalizes speech ...

Jack Kevorkian, the U.S. doctor who was jailed for helping terminally ill people commit suicide, has died at the age of 83. The former pathologist's attorney and friend says Kevorkian died early Friday at a hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. He was hospitalized last month with kidney problems. In 2007, Kevorkian was released from prison after serving eight years of a 10 to 25-year sentence for second-degree murder. A jury in Michigan sentenced him in 1999 after a video aired on national television of Kevorkian administering lethal drugs to a patient suffering from the debilitating nervous system disease named after U.S. baseball player Lou Gehrig. Two queers decide to have a baby. They mix their sperm together and have a surrogate mother artificially inseminated with it. When the baby is born, they hurry to the hospital. A dozen babies are in the ward, eleven of whom are crying and screaming. Over in the corner, one baby is smiling serenely. A nurse comes by, and to the delight of the gay fathers, she points out the only happy child as theirs. "Isn't it wonderful?" one queer says to the other. "All these unhappy babies, and our baby is so happy. This just proves the superiority of gay love!" The nurse says, "Oh sure, he's happy now, just wait 'til I pull the pacifier out of his ass.

LONDON, ENGLAND The U.S. must return to the pre-1845 borders with Mexico said British Prime Minister David Cameron today. Cameron offered up the solution in order to resolve the issue of massive illegal migration from Mexico into the U.S. and to quell the rising tide of drug cartel violence close to the shared border between the two nations. Cameron said the proposed return to the pre-1845 borders is the only viable solution that would solve a deadlock "that has grinded on and on and on." "There must be no doubt that Great Britain welcomes change that advances self-determination and opportunity," Cameron said. "Yes, there will be perils that accompany this ...

Karl Denninger Angered, Bans Everyone Hothead blogger Karl Denninger of Niceville, Florida, also known as Genesis, went on an angry, profanity laced tirade today, banning every member of his popular The Market Ticker website, and even someone who does not belong to the site. The outburst was prompted by a contributor to the site who challenged Denningers thesis that gold is not an appropriate investment in the current economic environment. Yeah, I mean, all I said was that I thought he was wrong about gold, that ya know, it might be good to have some, said the poster, known as SBug. And he went totally off, and banned me from the site, like, ...

Hammond, whose life has been described as a "hopelessly sloppy jumble of events" by numerous observers. DENTON, TXSources confirmed Friday that the life of local marketing associate Rich Hammond has been plagued by a series of glaring errors in continuity, leading many to believe it was poorly thought out, with little regard for basic logic or consistency. Critics said the lax attention to detail and sloppy sequencing throughout Hammond's life range from sudden, unexpected changes in dress and facial hair to total reversals in personality that seem to contradict his previously established thoughts and desires. "The whole thing is kind of a mess, frankly," ...

We got three and an eighth inches of rain yesterday. A quarter inch the day before. Rain coming in now. Forecast for rain tomorrow. Rain every day. I've decided not to wade into work today. According to the local weather station, the farmers only have 49% of the crops in the ground. It should be 76% at least. In Ohio it's only 11%, should be 80%. Millions of acres are under water near the Misissippi River. Big droughts in the southwest. Best be gettin' ready for some serious increases in prices and shortages soon.
