Police: Chandler man stabbed for refusing blood-sucking request by Laurie Merrill - Oct. 7, 2010 04:09 PM The Arizona Republic A Chandler man was stabbed in the arm after refusing to let two vampire-crazed friends suck his blood, police said. The man, Robert Maley, 25, of Chandler, had let the pair suck his blood before. But on Monday, he refused, and was stabbed in the left arm, police said. He was living with Aaron Homer, 24, and Amanda Williamson, 21, also of Chandler. The pair are "into vampire stuff and paganism," the stab victim is quoted as telling police in the report. "He had allowed them to suck his blood one time, but did not want them to suck his blood any ...

Joseph Sobran, 1946–2010

With sadness, I report the death of an old and cherished friend, Joe Sobran. Joe wrote and edited for National Review until he and William F. Buckley, Jr., had a falling out; he had a long-running engagement with CBS Radio as a commentator; and he wrote a syndicated newspaper column. For most of his life, Joe was one of those rare conservatives who actually had and lived by sincere conservative values, rather than merely mouthing the usual banal conservative views and readily throwing principles overboard whenever an opportunity to influence or wield state power presented itself. Late in life, he embraced philosophical anarchism, having given up all hope that the state would ever do ...

Veteran claims government breached his privacy Last Updated: Thursday, October 7, 2010 CBC News A Gulf War veteran is suing the federal government for allegedly breaching his privacy, saying his personal information was shared among hundreds of bureaucrats at Veterans Affairs. Sean Bruyea, a vocal critic of veterans policy, said the government allowed personal medical and psychological information to be inserted into briefing notes sent to high-ranking bureaucrats and government ministers. The briefing notes were about Bruyea's opposition to the government's new charter for modern veterans. Bruyea claims the documents show more than 400 different bureaucrats have accessed his ...

I was walking past the mental hospital the other day and all the patients were shouting, '13....13....13.' The fence was too high to see over, but I saw a little gap in the planks, so I looked through to see what was going on..... Some idiot poked me in the eye with a stick! Then they all started shouting '14....14....14'..

[Hey Kiddies!] The hot Halloween costume for 2010

Tragedy + time = comedy, the old maxim goes. But in this world where the 24-hour news cycle compresses time, we tend to look at tragedies in the not-too-distant past as ancient history, and as such, fair game for comedy. Enter “Bad Planning,” my pick for what will be this year’s hot costume, a getup that consists of oil-spattered British Petroleum work overalls with a dead oil-encrusted plastic fish and an oily wrench. I’m sure some people’s first reaction to the costume will be disgust – how could anyone make light of a fairly recent catastrophic natural disaster, on Halloween no less. But I see the costume as a means for folks to mock BP (the BP logo on the ...

Elderly Woman Shoots 12-Year-Old BoyBoy Is Charged With Crime, Woman Is Not CHICAGO (CBS) A shooting on the city's Southeast Side has people telling two entirely different stories. Neighbors said an elderly woman was fed up with constant harassment from a 12-year-old boy, so she took a gun and shot the child after he and his friends threw bricks into her home. Now, the boy is charged with a crime, while the 68-year-old woman is not. The boy who was shot, along with another boy, 13, are cited in juvenile delinquency petitions with one count each of misdemeanor aggravated assault to a senior citizen, according to police. The woman, identified by neighbors as Margaret Matthews, was ...

Have you learned anything? Are you getting accustomed to your 'information sources'. When the NWO really 'KICKS IN' do you think you'll have your Blackberry, your I-Phone, your Internet connection? There is a whole generation that know nothing but the above. Remember "Desert Storm" (GHWB)?. The first thing attacked was "COMMUNICATION". Try to imagine no forums, no e-mail, no cell phone calls, no land line calls. Just a soup can and some string perhaps.

Owner of Segway Machines Dies on a Segway Jimi Heselden, the British multi-millionaire entrepreneur and owner of the Segway company has died age 62. British police say they believe Mr. Heselden died while testing an all-terrain equipped Segway and lost control and drove the machine off a cliff near his estate in Leeds. Worth an estimated quarter of a billion dollars, Mr. Heselden was a miner who made his fortune inventing the Hesco "Bastion" barrier---a tall wire cage cube that is filled with rocks and dirt for a make-shift defensive wall. The Hesco Bastion's are employed at NATO military outposts all around Afghanistan and the Pentagon has spent more than $50 ...

Eagle Eye: A Movie Review

I just saw the movie Eagle Eye on DVD. It has lots of action. It is about a cyber-terrorist who plans Operation Guillotine which is to kill the President, the Vice-President, the Speaker of the House, the Senate Majority leader, the Cabinet, the Supreme Court and almost all of the members of the House and the Senate. I liked the movie and got it from Netflix. The only bad thing about the movies is the unhappy ending.

Captain Robert Salas was on duty in Montana in 1967 when a UFO shut down the nuclear missiles on his base. And he's hardly the only one to make such a claim. On Monday, six former U.S. Air Force officers and one former enlisted man will break their silence about similar events at the National Press Club, all centering around unidentified flying objects and nuclear missiles. They plan to urge the government to publicly confirm the incidents, stating that they were ordered never to discuss the events. "We're talking about unidentified flying objects, as simple as that," Salas told FoxNews.com. "They're often known as UFOs, you could call them that," he ...

A 1st grade school teacher had twenty-six students in her class. She presented each child in her classroom the 1st half of a well-known proverb and asked them to come up with the remainder of the proverb. It's hard to believe these were actually done by first graders. Their insight may surprise you. PLUS SIGN A ten-year-old boy was failing math. His parents tried everything from tutors to hypnosis; but to no avail. Finally, at the insistence of a family friend, they decided to enroll their son in a private Catholic school. After the first day, the boy's parents were surprised when he walked in after school with a stern, focused and very determined expression on his face. He went straight past them, right to his room and quietly closed the door. For nearly two hours he toiled away in his room with math books strewn about his desk and the surrounding floor. He emerged long enough to eat, and after quickly cleaning his plate, went straight back to his room, closed the door ...

In 1994, GOP Leaders managed to release a "Contract with America" just days before voters swept them into office. Establishment types sitting in DC continue to believe that the "Contract" was somehow relevant to their victory. One of us was in the field during that election and can confirm that, at least where we were working, not a single voter had heard of the "Contract." It was a DC thing. // 37958976-GOP-Pledge-to-America 51; Within hours, the DC GOP Establishment, desperate to show that they "get it," will unveil their new "Contract." They document is out now and is included here. Our advice to candidates running for office: tell ...
