Catching Up With Michael Levin The author of Why Race Matters speaks his mind. Michael Levin, who teaches philosophy at the City University of New York, is the author of the race-realist classic Why Race Matters. It remains to this day one of the most rigorous and exhaustive treatments of the evidence for racial differences in IQ and what those differences mean for social policy. Prof. Levin paid a high price for taking up this subject. From the late 1980s to the mid 1990s, Prof. Levin was the "academic racist" liberal New York loved to hate. The forward to the 2005 edition of his book describes what happened when word of his racial views first became public: "The uproar ...

Hunt on for Byker Romeo who left love message Jan 8 2009 by Alastair Craig, Evening Chronicle The message on the roof of Storey's Carpets in Byker Buy Photo LOVE is in the air. Literally. As romantic gestures go, this one 50ft up on the Tyneside skyline will take some beating. The so-called Byker Romeo has declared their love by hijacking a huge sign above a carpet store. Staff at Storey’s Carpets in Cut Bank, Byker, Newcastle, were surprised to find that the giant white ‘CARPETS’ lettering which has been on top of their red roof for years had been replaced with ‘I LOVE U’. The 15ft letters have been manipulated to send out a city-wide message to a ...

CAMBRIDGE, MA - Sgt. James Crowley, the policeman at the center of Harvard professor Henry Gates' arrest controversy, has issued an official apology nearly two weeks after the incident occurred. In a written statement released through the Cambridge Police Media Office, Crowley admitted the entire controversy could have been avoided if he were not white, and that he should have called for backup from an African-American officer. Racist Policeman James Crowley "I didn't stop to realize it was my race that was inflaming the situation." Crowley said in the statement. "I should have quietly allowed Mr. Gates to berate me until an officer of a less offensive race arrived, ...

A blundering small-town pilot nearly caused a disaster over Kennedy Airport when he steered his single-engine plane for a landing in front of a Boeing 747 and forced controllers to reroute other airliners out of his meandering path. Hundreds of lives were endangered around noon Saturday because 69-year-old John Prendergast of Sterling, Va., couldn't find his way to Republic Airport in Farmingdale, LI. "I don't know what he's doing -- he's going everywhere," sputtered a controller as he radioed warnings of an "unknown aircraft" to passenger jets. Lost, Prendergast made several 360-degree turns east of Kennedy before he finally appeared to find his ...

SAN ANTONIO - The scene was so gruesome investigators could barely speak: A 3 1/2-week-old boy lay dismembered in the bedroom of a single-story house, three of his tiny toes chewed off, his face torn away, his head severed and his brains ripped out. "At this particular scene you could have heard a pin drop," San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Monday. "No one was speaking. It was about as somber as it could have been." Officers called to the home early Sunday found the boy's mother, Otty Sanchez, sitting on the couch with a self-inflicted wound to her chest and her throat partially slashed, screaming "I killed my baby! I killed my baby!" police ...

Serpents and The Rainbow Snake breeders in pursuit of every color imaginable By Jessica Lussenhop Thu, Jul 23, 2009 Underneath the front porch of a house in Santa Cruz—the kind of comfy family home that has very thick wall-to-wall carpeting—there is a secret room accessible by a crude path of boards laid over the steep dirt incline under the deck. “They’re out of the house, in here,” says Brad Loofbourrow as his 13-year-old son Tristan opens the door to the small, hot room. This is where Tristan keeps Ellen, Rachel, Shelby, Bruce, Sahra and H.P. “He names them all,” says Brad. “They’re his friends.” It doesn’t look like much at ...

An Australian man is in a critical condition in hospital after he became engulfed in flames when he was shot by police with a Taser gun. The incident took place in the West Australian remote desert community of Warburton after police approached a house where the man and others were sniffing petrol, intending to arrest them. It is unclear how the 36-year-old man, named by local media as Ronald Marshall, was set alight, but family members told the Australian newspaper that his body burst into flames after the Taser hit him on the bridge of his nose. He was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital by the flying doctor service where he is being treated for burns to 20 per cent of his body. The ...

Would Palin be less intrusive than Obama DOMESTICALLY?
Post Date: 2009-07-22 13:21:28 by Jethro Tull

Foreign policy is off the table for this discussion as it's my belief that any president is captive to the State department, and neither would have a noticeably different agenda. On foreign policy both are a wash, IMO. My question is limited to domestic policy. Would Palin have done cap and trade? Would she have looked to turn our health care system into a government clinic? Would she have tucked a hate crime bill into some spending provision? Would she be looking to confiscate our guns? My feeling is that she'd be far less oppressive than this ACORN inspired street agitator, but the floor is open for all opinions.

Todd Swenson, 40, a first officer with Alaska Airlines, relaxes inside his Coachman trailer in Parking Lot B at Los Angeles International Airport. His home is in Fresno, but he stays in the trailer when he’s on duty. Buffeted by their industry's turbulence, airline employees save money by living part time in a motor home colony at LAX. For about 15 days a month, Alaska Airlines pilot Jim Lancaster lives in a motor home in Parking Lot B near the southernmost runway at Los Angeles International Airport. Every four minutes, a jetliner or turboprop roars in -- 500 feet above his front door -- for a landing. The noise is so loud it forces Lancaster to pause during conversations. But ...

DHS chief accused of using no-fly list for political payback

Arizona's state treasurer is not-so-subtly accusing President Obama's Homeland Security chief of abusing America's "no-fly" list to satisfy a personal vendetta against him. State Treasurer Dean Martin told Arizona CBS affiliate KPHO that his name suddenly appeared on the government's list of those banned from US commercial flights after former Arizona governor Janet Napolitano became head of the DHS. Martin claims the airline blacklisting may be related to his past political rivalry with Napolitano. "My staff used to joke after my disagreements with the previous governor that I wouldn't be able to fly once she got back in D.C." he told KPHO. ...

With a summer like this, you can`t tell my Dad there`s global warming. "I think Al Gore and his group should be out here and tell us about this global warming stuff. I think he might have a change of mind. We`ve had a cool July,” says Orlan Dreyer, Willow City Farmer July mornings aren`t supposed to be 50 degrees, but once again today, we`re seeing temperatures well below normal. With two inches of rain on my wheat crop in the last two weeks, we have plenty of moisture to carry us for awhile. "All in all we had a late start, but you have a lot of potential here,” says Dreyer. Dad got the crop sprayed but since we were a little late getting to it and the crop was ...

Obama’s Science Czar: Traditional family is obsolete, punish large families Posted by sakerfa on July 16, 2009 President Obama’s Science Czar, John Holdren, took a controversial and amoral approach to the science of population by recommending mass compulsory sterilization and even forced abortion (and/or forced marriages) under certain circumstances. His 1977 tome, Ecoscience, which he co-authored with Paul and Anne Ehrlich, also displays a revealing disregard for the institution of the traditional human family. David Freddoso Washington Examiner Wednesday, July 15, 2009 Holdren and the Ehrlichs write: Radical changes in family structure and relationships are inevitable, ...
