Photoshopped or not, in a world of constant propaganda and doublespeak, the following ad seen in Egypt is a welcome respite in the world of bigger and bigger lies... What we think they meant is - and perhaps with a nod to this blog (and other non-mainstream media) "the pen is mightier than the sword"

Some parents of students at the B.U.I.L.D. Academy in Buffalo, New York had complaints of their own after receiving a handwritten complaint letter from their children’s pre-kindergarten teacher. The note sent home with some students read in part, “Several children in Pre-K ages 3-4 are coming to school (sometimes daily) with soiled, stained, or dirty clothes. Some give off unpleasant smells and some appear unclean and unkept.” The teacher went on asking that parents address the matter as, “It is a health and safety concern. It also makes it difficult for me to be close to them or even want to touch them. Enough said.” It’s a message that has many outraged ...

Paraprosdokians are figures of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected; frequently humorous. Winston Churchill loved them. 1. Where there's a will, I want to be in it. 2. The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on my list. 3. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak. 4. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong. 5. We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public. 6. War does not determine who is right - only who is left. 7. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. 8. To steal ideas from one person is ...

Why Men's Noses Are Bigger Than Women's

Nov. 18, 2013 — Human noses come in all shapes and sizes. But one feature seems to hold true: Men's noses are bigger than women's. Share This: Tweet2A new study from the University of Iowa concludes that men's noses are about 10 percent larger than female noses, on average, in populations of European descent. The size difference, the researchers believe, comes from the sexes' different builds and energy demands: Males in general have more lean muscle mass, which requires more oxygen for muscle tissue growth and maintenance. Larger noses mean more oxygen can be breathed in and transported in the blood to supply the muscle. The researchers also note that males and ...

Wizardry: In the first half of the Friday's show, George was joined by practicing Wizard Oberon Zell for a discussion on wizardry and magic, strange creatures, and lost civilizations. He likened wizardry to philosophy, as both practices center on the pursuit of wisdom. "A wizard is generally considered to be somebody who knows stuff other people don't know and who provides that as a service," Zell said. Throughout history wizards have been teachers, mentors and founders of various schools of thought, he added, noting that wizards also penned the first books on mathematics, astronomy, architecture and medicine. Magic and science are essentially the same, Oberon continued, ...

Former Frat Members Not Liable in Pledge's Death
Post Date: 2013-11-16 02:39:22 by Tatarewicz

NBC A jury on Friday concluded that two former members of a University of Delaware fraternity were not liable for the alcohol-poisoning death of an 18-year-old pledge in 2008 during a ritual. Ruling in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the parents of Brett Griffin of Kendall Park, N.J., jurors said former chapter president of the Delta Lambda chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu, Jason Aaron, and former pledge master, Matthew Siracusa, were not responsible. The fraternity and other members previously reached settlements in the case, but attorneys for Aaron, 25, and Siracusa, 26, argued that they were not liable because they did not participate in any hazing of Griffin, and that no one had forced ...

China will implement this new policy while adhering to the basic state policy of family planning, according to the decision on major issues concerning comprehensively deepening reforms, which was approved at the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee held from Nov. 9 to 12 in Beijing. The birth policy will be adjusted and improved step by step to promote "long-term balanced development of the population in China," it ...

....COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) — U.S. officials on Thursday destroyed more than 6 tons of confiscated ivory tusks, carvings and jewelry — the bulk of the U.S. "blood ivory" stockpile — and urged other nations to follow suit to fight a $10 billion global trade that slaughters tens of thousands of elephants each year. Thousands of ivory items accumulated over the past 25 years were piled into a large pyramid-shaped mound, then dumped into a steel rock crusher that pulverized it all into dust and tiny chips at the National Wildlife Property Repository just north of Denver. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will donate the particles to a yet-to-be-determined museum ...

An interesting statistic I've never seen reported in any major media outlet… By Dr. David Eifrig, editor, Retirement Millionaire Monday, November 11, 2013 Over the past dozen years, we've witnessed the growth of a massive police-state architecture in the United States. We have new internal security agencies (the Department of Homeland Security)… a monstrous internal travel security force (the Transportation Security Administration)… militarized local police departments… "peace officers" in black uniforms. They wield machine guns and even drive armored vehicles. The government has created all of this in the name of "fighting terrorism." And ...

SPOKANE, Wash. - Two Gonzaga students are facing possible expulsion from the University after they pulled a weapon in self defense as a six time felon attempted to get into their on campus apartment. According to the student handbook, students may not possess handguns on campus or university owned property. On Friday a university discipline board decided to move forward with sanctions, including possible expulsion, for using the weapons. The students will learn in the near future about their future with the school. It all happened late in the night on October 24th when roommates Erik Fagan and Dan McIntosh were hanging out in their university owned apartment. At 10:15 Fagan answered the ...

ADHD & Supplements/ Shadow People Date: 11-06-13 Host: George Noory Guests: John Gray, Heidi Hollis In the first half, expert in the fields of communication and relationships, John Gray PhD., talked about the rise in ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) in both children and adults. Gray said that he, himself, had a form of ADHD, with a kind of hyper-focus that eventually caused him to have an early onset of Parkinson's disease. Related to ADHD, one of the biggest problems in marriages is that men become hyper-focused on their work, and less interested in their relationship, and women become hyper-focused on everyone else's needs, and have a deficiency of focus on ...

ScienceDaily... Nov. 6, 2013 — What makes a good reader? First, you have to know how to read the words on a page and understand them -- but there's a higher-level step to reading comprehension. You have to tie together the words over time, maintaining their order and meaning in your memory, so that you can understand phrases, sentences, paragraphs and extended texts. Share This: Northwestern University researchers were interested in exploring the brain activity underlying this higher-level integration step. Through the use of an EEG to measure brainwaves, they were able to predict reading comprehension with almost 90 percent accuracy based on the brain activity differences ...

8 Life Changing Disasters

There are at least eight disasters that may soon change life as we know it, and seven of them are already underway. Most of these could cause an early death for millions. Unfortunately, far too many people are unaware of how serious the situation is. They have the "normalcy bias," the faulty assumption that normal will continue because it seems to have done so in the past. In actuality, "normal" has been changing throughout the entire life of each of us. Sophisticated economic, political and social manipulation, the increased damage capabilities of war, widespread pollution and technologies from nukes to nanobots to death ray frequencies that raise the possibility for ...
