First the good news: Our website at warisacrime.org had more visitors in 2011 than in any previous year, and more in December than any previous month. It just might be that people are coming to understand that war is and needs to be treated as a crime. There was lots more good and bad news in 2011. Some wars were scaled back, others expanded, and others still both started and ended. And a new movement finally finally finally began pushing back against militarism and plutocracy. In the area of war powers, however, in questions of what future presidents, Pentagons, CIAs, mercenaries, robots, and Congresses will be permitted to do, the news has all been bad, horrendous, or catastrophic. ...

Ratcheting Up Middle East Tensions - by Stephen Lendman Post-9/11, Washington's aggression created a Middle East cauldron. As a result, it's been on the boil. Things ahead look worse. Obama and key NATO allies threaten the entire region. In 2012, expect continued destructive violence. Israel's partnered in this enterprise. On December 20, Jerusalem Post writer Yaakov Katz headlined, "US commander visits Israel to finalize missile drill," saying: This spring, Washington and Israel will "hold the(ir) largest-ever missile defense exercise....amid Iranian efforts to obtain nuclear weapons." Unprecedented in size, it'll include establishing "US ...

Qatar invaded Libya, now invades Syria. Qatar created anti-Syrian mercenary force: the digital Israeli website DEBKAFile. According to this information, released Thursday by the news agency, Cham Press, the contingent is composed of mercenaries from several countries in the region, mainly the more radical Syrians of the Muslim Brotherhood, which was named the Syrian Free Army. The complaint specifies that this force is financed by Doha, and is constituted in the form of battalions and brigades in military camps on Turkish territory, with the permission of the government of Ankara, near the border with Syria. This month, Syrian border guards aborted four attempts at infiltration by ...

Obama's New Year Resolution: More Middle East War

Obama's New Year Resolution: More Middle East War - by Stephen Lendman Syria and Iran are targeted. Regime change is planned. At issue is replacing them with client ones, controlling the region's strategic resources, and depriving key rivals China and Russia from access. Pressure keeps building relentlessly. For months, Syria's been ravaged by externally generated violence. Its economy's also suffered enormously. According to a Damascus University assessment: "The general financial situation of the country is suffering from the inability of the state budget because of the inability of the general revenue to cover expenses." Moreover, conditions ahead look worse ...

HONOLULU (AP) — Iran must respond soon to a report by the U.N. atomic agency alleging that it is working secretly on developing a nuclear weapon, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Friday while attending a Pacific Rim summit. Clinton said she discussed the issue with her counterparts gathered in Hawaii who also expressed serious concern over the issue. "Iran has a long history of deception and denial regarding its nuclear program and in the coming days we expect Iran to answer the serious questions raised by this report," Clinton told reporters. The International Atomic Energy Agency showed satellite images, letters and diagrams to 35 nations earlier Friday in ...

‘Kill, Occupy, Kill’ is a Losing Strategy

The Guardian reported on Sunday that “senior British officials believe that a ‘last push’ in 2012 is likely to definitively destroy al-Qaida’s remaining senior leadership in Pakistan.” The vicious drone war, wildly accelerated under Obama, has managed to kill a considerable number of al Qaeda members, despite killing and maiming many more civilians. But don’t prepare you palms for applause just yet: the same report acknowledged that the Obama administration’s capacity to kill is not a winning strategy even if it has crippled terrorist operatives in Pakistan’s Northwest Frontier Province. However, well-informed sources outside government and close to ...

Escalating Anti-Iranian Tensions

Escalating Anti-Iranian Tensions - by Stephen Lendman Whether or not anti-Iranian rhetoric, saber rattling, sanctions, other policy measures, and recent events signal war isn't known. Growing dangers though mount. America targets all independent regimes. At issue is replacing them with client ones. In October, Washington falsely charged Iran with plotting to kill Saudi Arabia's US ambassador. In November, outdated, forged, long ago discredited, and perhaps nonexistent documents were used to claim Iran's developing nuclear weapons. According to America's latest March 2011 intelligence estimate, no credible evidence proves it. Nor was Iran involved in 9/11. Nonetheless, ...

Whenever I watch the Republican presidential debates, my mind is drawn to that important children’s book, The Emperor’s New Clothes. The six sock-puppets who have thus far managed to survive the musical-chairs comedy ballet wow Mr. and Mrs. Boobus with their visions of a violent, intrusive, policed, and war-loving America that equals, if not exceeds, what Barack Obama has been able to generate. It was but four years ago that John McCain choreographed his campaign around the lyrics "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran." That so few people were repulsed by such psychopathic utterances is but one of many symptoms of a society in moral, spiritual, and intellectual collapse. The domestic ...

World War III Has Begun – It`s the First Asymmetric War Long Awaited by Pentagon Think Tanks Wayne MADSEN (USA) | 26.12.2011 | 00:00 The Pentagon has already declared World War III and President Barack Obama and the Congress never even carried out their constitutional duties to approve the use of American military power for war. One might reasonably conclude that the United States has outsourced war. Presently, World War III is being conducted on two continents – Asia and Africa – with two others – Europe and South America – looming on the horizon. Today, wars are crafted by the upper one percent of wealthy elitists who, using non-governmental organizations, ...

Poster Comment:This Video is extremely interesting. Levenda leans left (in my opinion) or at least he sees the Republicans as the fascists without mentioning the democrats are communists. Otherwise, his lecture and power point presentation is extremely informative of how NASA has been part of an international (and planetary) nazi based fascist cover. You'll be amazed at the inter-connectedness of the NASA NAZIS and even the Kennedy Assassination ! We report - you decide !

Spoiling for a Fight with Syria and Iran - by Stephen Lendman Syria remains the region's only independent secular state. Washington aims to replace its regime with a client one. Libya's model was replicated. Months of externally generated violence followed. So far it's short of war. For how long is uncertain. Obama can't wait to wage another one to keep ravaging the world one country at a time. Months of violence, sanctions and isolation have taken a toll. Deaths mount. No one knows how many. Western media reported numbers come from opposition forces, not independent observers. Nothing they say is reliable. Assad's government says 2,000 security forces have been ...

ABUL — The U.S. Army, which has struggled in recent years to combat a mounting suicide toll, took an unusual step when it announced Wednesday that it had charged eight American soldiers serving in Afghanistan in connection with the apparent suicide of one of their lower-ranking comrades. The charges in the death of Pvt. Danny Chen, a 19-year-old infantryman from New York City, came after a vigorous, weeks-long campaign by advocacy groups and family members hoping to pressure the Pentagon to investigate allegations that Chen had been the subject of hazing within the ranks and had been repeatedly taunted with racial slurs. On Oct. 3, Chen was found dead in a guard tower at a small ...

American Detention Has Nothing to do with the War on Terror

Strong language warning. Poster Comment:The indefinite detention of Americans legislation probably has much to do with financier objectives to foreclose and seize the assets of "detained" citizens who would be unable to work towards paying their mortgages, car loans, business loans, and such if held for very long. IOW, more of their "Judicial Genocide" schematics to make people homeless, transportationless, unemployed, unemployable, impoverished to death, and so on. D17 OWS

Press TV has interviewed Iraq war veteran Mike Prysner in Los Angeles to discuss the matter further. What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview: Press TV: Mr. Prysner, the US is supposed to withdraw from Iraq by the year's end. Still a US commander in Iraq says the country is a dangerous place, I mean, the ...

A Libyan military commander has begun legal actions against the British government for being complicit in his illegal rendition to Libya under the regime of former dictator Muammar Gaddafi. Abdul Hakim Belhadj, leading the revolutionary forces into Tripoli, was arrested by the US's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in Malaysia in 2004 over the suspicions of having links to al-Qaeda. He was then transferred to Thailand and rendered to Libya apparently, in exchange for information that Gaddafi's agents had given to them. He asserted that the British government betrayed him when he sought asylum through the British High Commission in Malaysia in 2004. Human Rights Watch director ...

op American officials in Afghanistan say the U.S. military intends to maintain a troop presence here beyond a 2014 deadline for Afghan troops to take over. Marine Gen. John Allen, the top commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, said the Taliban and other forces in the region need to know the U.S. military will make sure the Afghans can handle the job. "If you been waiting for us to go, we're not leaving," he said. NATO forces agreed last year to set a deadline of the end of 2014 for turning over security to Afghan forces and ending combat operations. The United States has 90,000 troops in Afghanistan. There are more than 30,000 troops from NATO allies. By the ...
