Up to $60B in war funds said wasted

WASHINGTON (AP) — As much as $60 billion in U.S. funds has been lost to waste and fraud in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past decade through lax oversight of contractors, poor planning and corruption, an independent panel investigating U.S. wartime spending estimates. In its final report to Congress, the Commission on Wartime Contracting said the figure could grow as U.S. support for reconstruction projects and programs wanes, leaving both countries to bear the long-term costs of sustaining the schools, medical clinics, barracks, roads and power plants already built with American tax dollars. Much of the waste and fraud could have been avoided with better planning and more ...

NATO Style Liberation

NATO Style Liberation - by Stephen Lendman Wherever it goes, NATO slaughters, ravages, lays waste, incinerates, contaminates, devastates, conquers, colonizes, plunders, exploits, impoverishes and immiserates. Libya is its latest victim. It's now a hellish inferno thanks to NATO and its rebel gangs, unleashed to commit mass murder with impunity. NATO calls it humanitarian intervention responsibility to protect. It's Orwellian doublespeak for war - for Libyans, without mercy to destroy another independent state. For America, Britain and France, it's for another imperial trophy. For Libyans, it turned their world upside down through the barrel of a gun. They call it naked ...

NATO's Ugly Face - by Stephen Lendman View it yourself! http://www.youtube.com/user/soket1234 Images don't lie, except NATO's fake ones produced in Doha, Qatar and perhaps elsewhere on Hollywood sound stages. For months, NATO marauders and rebel killers gang raped Libya - murdering, destroying, ravaging on the pretense of protecting. On August 22, Obama, a duplicitous unindicted war criminal, described the above images as "basic and joyful longing for human freedom." On August 25, Secretary of State Clinton, another unindicted war criminal, said "(t)he events in Libya this week have heartened the world." Let them and their conspiratorial allies go to ...

Never Forgive, Never Forget

Never Forgive, Never Forget - by Stephen Lendman After covering Libya's rape since last winter in dozens of articles, no forgiving or forgetting is possible for one of history's great crimes. Nor is ignoring those responsible, condemning them forthrightly, and explaining why all wars are waged. NATO outdid Orwell on this one, killing truth by calling war the responsibility to protect - by terrorizing, attacking, and slaughtering civilians like psychopathic assassins. As a result, honest historians will redefine barbarism to explain NATO's savagery. It includes ongoing crimes of war and against humanity for the most malevolent reasons. When is war not war? It's when ...

Taliban: 64 US troops killed in Kandahar

Sat Aug 27, 2011 The Taliban claim that 64 US-led troops have been killed in two bomb attacks they launched in the southern city of Kandahar earlier on Saturday. According to incoming reports one attack claimed the lives of 36 US-led soldiers and the second attack killed 28 troops. Has to be Taliban propaganda. American military is not dumb enough to allow such large troop congregations.

Rebel Assassins Terrorizing Libyans

Rebel Assassins Terrorizing Libyans - by Stephen Lendman In his new article headlined, "9/11 After A Decade: Have We Learned Anything?" Paul Craig Roberts said: "Today Americans are unsafe, not because of terrorists and domestic extremists, but because they have lost their civil liberties and no protection from unaccountable government power." So have millions under occupation and/or attack by US/NATO forces, terrorizing them in the name of "democracy" to "set them free." America is a global terror state. For decades, it's menaced humanity's survival by imperial wars for wealth and power, not liberation or democratic values. All US ...

On War, Obama Has Been Worse Than Bush

Obama said he would divert resources from Iraq to Afghanistan. To his everlasting shame, he has not broken this promise. The real critique of the wars certainly goes beyond the numbers. It is good, however, to look at the figures. Most people in the country know that Obama hasn’t exactly ended the wars. I’m sure people say, Yeah, but Obama is ending the wars. This claim is not obviously 100 percent false in every respect, perhaps. And so we need to be careful when we get into the details. So, during the run-up to the ascension of Obama to the throne, he was critical of the Iraq war. He said things like This war’s lasted longer than World War I, II, the Civil War; 4,000 ...

Libya: Keep the Freedom Flame Alive - by Stephen Lendman Trapped for days in Tripoli's Rixos Hotel, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) arranged for the release of over 30 foreign journalists yesterday. They're now at the Corinthia Hotel, awaiting a boat for transport to Malta, then home via Europe that can't arrive until fighting subsides. Given the chaos and violence, it could be a while. Among them are heroic independent journalists, unable to report vital truths on the ground. For now, only their safe passage home matters, but what they witnessed firsthand will be sorely missed. As a result, it'll be much harder to know what's ongoing. Rest ...

How the Libyan rebels bought a miniature drone on the Internet

Although Libyan rebels have been celebrating their advance this week into the capital of Tripoli, just a few weeks ago, they had a problem. Outgunned and poorly trained, Libya's ragtag opposition forces were the object of pitying--if not unsympathetic--reports by the journalists covering their seemingly hapless efforts to advance and hold ground against Gadhafi's professional forces, who were better trained and better equipped. Naturally, the rebels turned to the Internet for help. In June, members of the Libyan National Transition Council were "searching the Web," the New York Times reports, where they found information about a surveillance drone--"essentially a ...

Obama's Wars on Humanity

Obama's Wars on Humanity - by Stephen Lendman America's a poster child failed state, defined in a recent article as follows: (1) An inability or unwillingness to protect its citizens from violence and other forms of harm. (2) Its abrogation of rule of law standards. (3) Its lawless belligerent pursuits. (4) If nominal democracies, its policy deficiencies, exposing a serious democratic deficit. Ignoring social and other homeland needs, America's business is war, more war, imperial wars, defiantly heading the nation toward tyranny and ruin because of an addiction it can't or won't quit. Immanuel Wallerstein believes America's been "a fading global power ...

Libya War: It Ain't Over Till It's Over - by Stephen Lendman Mark Twain once called reports of his death greatly exaggerated. The same hold for Libyans, not ready to submit to NATO colonization, occupation, plunder and exploitation. Not at least without a fight. The stakes are high - stay free or die socially, economically, politically, emotionally, and/or perhaps physically. Washington-led NATO is a rogue killing machine plunderer. It comes, sees, slaughters, ravages, and pillages all its surveys. In March, it arrived in Libya on cruise missiles, bombs, shells, other munitions, fifth column infiltrators, media liars, and other rogue elements, not white horses, not as liberators ...

NATO's Planned Bloodbath in Tripoli

NATO'S Planned Bloodbath In Tripoli - by Stephen Lendman NATO intends to get the bloodbath it wants through intensified terror bombing and low-level strafing of civilians and nonmilitary sites. No matter that it grossly violates international and constitutional law, what Washington-led member states long ago trashed. Through August 22, air operations included 19,877 sorties and 7,505 strike ones, with no elaboration of their intensity or deadliness. What is known is that powerful, high-explosive munitions are used, able to cause deadly force casualties and destruction. In recent days, strikes intensified. Without them, rebels would disintegrate and collapse. Most of them are little ...

15 NATO tankers torched in Pakistan

Mon Aug 22, 2011 Unknown militants have attacked a convoy of NATO oil tankers in southwestern Pakistan, torching at least 15 trucks carrying fuel for foreign troops in neighboring Afghanistan. Could be Taliban propaganda but if true (again) what a terrible waste just so some 400 Congress critters can be assured of Organized Jewry's support at election time.

Can you even remember the world before 9/11? You know, the one where you weren’t stripped in the airport or body-wanded at the ballpark? It’s as much a lost world as anything Conan Doyle ever imagined. And it seems there’s no turning back. An administration voted into office by a populace tired of George W. Bushism has, remarkably enough, added on to Bush’s wars, redoubled his “secret” drone campaigns, further expanded the special operations forces that have grown into a secret military inside the military, upped the level of secrecy that envelops the National Security Complex (whose further expansion it also has overseen), renewed the PATRIOT Act, supported ...

New York Times: Lying about Libya and Palestine - by Stephen Lendman Note: A follow-up article will continue the narrative below. Currently, events in Tripoli are fluid. Progressive Radio News Hour contributor Mahdi Nazemroaya's overnight email said: "NATO landed insurgents in (Tripoli) harbor. They are attacking my hotel. I almost got shot. They're still lying a lot (about claims of controlling the capital), but we are in real danger." He's saying that armed guerrilla gangs, mercenaries, indistinguishable from (also armed) Tripoli residents, are waging street warfare. Russia Today reported about 1,300 deaths. No one knows for sure. However, events are fast-moving ...

PARIS TWITTER, LIBYA WAR. HOW A FATAL TWITTER MESSAGE OPENS THE DOORS TO A MUCH WANTED WAR AGAINST LIBYA, THROUGH THE GATE OF UNSC RESOLUTIONS 1970 AND 1973.z88; The mother of all lies was sent to the world through a Twitter message by Al Arabiya, February 23th. A message which makes Qadafi out to be a Hitler, and even more outrageous and cruel: "the repression in Libya has already claimed 10,000 dead and 50,000 injured." It may be a ballon d'essai to check if the world was able to swallow it; it did: Even the progressive people in Europe said: "We must stop the genocide." "Bengazi is like Guernica." But who is the source of this news? It was the ...

Taliban militants claim they have shot down an unmanned US reconnaissance drone in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad. Taliban spokesman Zabihollah Mojahed claimed that the militants gunned down the aircraft late on Saturday. Witnesses told Press TV that they saw the drone catching fire mid-air and crashing into a civilian house. Earlier this week, another US drone crashed due to technical problems in eastern Ghazni Province, NATO said in a statement. The Taliban spokesman had claimed that the militants shot down the unmanned plane. The Taliban militants say they have shot down several aircraft and NATO choppers in different parts of Afghanistan over the past few months. The ...

Plans are afoot to push the United States into an attack on Iran. Anyone knowing the political atmosphere would believe this impossible unless something really terrible were to happen. No nation on earth, we should believe, would ever stage such an event, dirty bomb or even full scale nuclear attack, as nothing less than that could push Americans to war, not an America very skeptical of 9/11 and its aftermath. However, one nation is free to do just that, knowing it faces no consequences of any kind from America, our closest ally, continually caught spying on us, buying off politicians or, as in Britain, running the government into the ground behind the front of “News Corp” and ...

By Hal Bernton Seattle Times staff reporter Since the first of July, five soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord have died in apparent suicides, part of an Army-wide upsurge in such deaths despite stepped-up prevention efforts. Their memorial services came so close together that one bereaved mother, at a hotel in DuPont where the Army had her stay, encountered another couple struggling with the loss of their son. "This is just too much in too short a time," said Karrie Champion, whose ...

Are German Soldiers Secretly Helping Fight Gadhafi?

Germany shocked the world in March went it opposed NATO action against Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi. But recently released documents show that German soldiers serving in NATO units in Italy are helping to select targets for alliance airstrikes. German soldiers are more directly involved in NATO air attacks against military forces of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi than was previously known. In response to a specific inquiry recently submitted by Hans-Christian Ströbele, a Green Party member of parliament, Germany's government acknowledged that 11 German soldiers currently stationed at NATO facilities in Italy are performing duties including ones "in the area of so-called ...

US military invents more powerful explosives

The US Office of Naval Research says that it has successfully tested a new type of explosive material that can dramatically increase weapons' impacts. Missiles made from the high density substance can explode with up to five times the energy of existing armaments. The material mixes metals and polymers and is said to be as dense as steel but have the strength of aluminum. US Navy scientists say that projectiles made from the new compound are less likely to kill innocent bystanders. Missiles, artillery shells and other military munitions are normally constructed with a steel casing that simply contains the high explosives within. This new approach from the US Office of Naval ...

Hannity Grows his Nose in a Full Hour Fast and Furious Special for FAUX Snooze. By Coral Snake Sean Hannity devoted a full hour today to the official lie about the Fast and Furious FALSE FLAG fiasco that involved the deliberate arming of criminals by the agency that is supposed to be enforcing federal gun laws (the BATFE). Only once during the whole special were the anti gun prejudices of the Obama Administration even hinted at as a possible reason for the fiasco that killed a border agent and led to eleven more violent crimes in America. It can therefore be concluded that FAUX Snooze is still following the “controlled opposition” model in the false Left/Right paradigm that ...

Abraham Lincoln: The Powers of the President to Invade LETTER TO WILLIAM H. "The provision of the Constitution giving the war-making power to Congress was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons: Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people ...
