RIP: America's Anti-War Movement - by Stephen Lendman On August 8, the libertarian Reason Foundation (RF) asked about the absence of anti-war sentiment in America, saying: "The Obama administration is on pace to have more American soldiers killed in" Iraq and Afghanistan than Bush did in his first term. Besides the shocking number of injuries, permanent impairments, physical trauma, and record number of suicides because of lengthy repeated deployments, iCasualties.org listed 630 Afghan deaths from 2001 through 2008 under Bush. Since Obama took office, it's 1,112 (plus another unconfirmed two dozen or more on August 18) and counting. Deaths also mount in Iraq, though ...

Who – and What – Are Behind the 'Official History' of the Bin Laden Raid? Post Date: 2011-08-18 09:01:35 by Ada

Article Summary: When you look closely, nothing seems right about what will surely become the accepted account of the raid that nailed America's enemy number one. And then things get even weirder
The establishment media just keep getting worse. They're further and further from good, tough investigative journalism, and more prone to be pawns in complicated games that affect the public interest in untold ways. A significant recent example is The New Yorker's vaunted August 8 exclusive on the vanquishing of Osama bin Laden. The piece, trumpeted as the most detailed account to date of the May 1 raid in Abbottabad Pakistan, was an instant hit. Got the chills half dozen ...

A powerful explosion has rocked a US military base in eastern Afghanistan and reportedly killed at least 27 American soldiers and left dozens wounded. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, saying the huge explosion left at least 27 American troops killed and 34 others wounded, a Press TV correspondent reported. The incident occurred early Thursday when a truck bomb went off inside the US military base in Gardez city, the capital of Afghanistan's Paktia province. According to the Taliban spokesman, the truck contained hundreds of kilos of explosives. Witnesses say the explosion was very powerful and a US helicopter was also destroyed in ...

This Fast and Furious program is touted on the VIDIOT BOX and in the controlled newspapers as a legitimate sting operation that went wrong however there is really more to it than this. The official sting that went wrong story has all the signatures of a false flag. In all ...

Falsified Major Media Reports on Libya Post Date: 2011-08-17 04:20:49 by Stephen Lendman

Falsified Major Media Reports on Libya - by Stephen Lendman Major media specialize in what they do best: truth inversion (aka bad fiction), not doing what journalists are supposed to do - their job, especially covering imperial wars for dominance and rich spoils. With Libya's National Transitional Council (NTC) falling apart and rebel forces in disarray, today's headlines belie the truth, reported by independent "un-in-bed-with" journalists and other sources. On August 16, Lizzie Phelan's Libya diary "clear(ed) up the latest media rubbish on Libya," saying: Gaddafi forces liberated the "hitherto rebel-held" town of Misrata. "Last night, the ...

JOINT BASE LEWIS MCCHORD, Wash. - A soldier's widow says his fellow Army Rangers wouldn't do anything to help him before he took his own life - after eight deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. The Army found Staff Sgt. Jared Hagemann's body at a training area of Joint Base Lewis McChord a few weeks ago. A spokesman for the base tells KOMO News that the nature of the death is still undetermined. But Staff Sgt. Hagemann's widow says her husband took his own life - and it didn't need to happen. "It was just horrible. And he would just cry," says Ashley Hagemann. Ashley says her husband Jared tried to come to grips with what he'd seen and done on his eight ...
US shocked and awed by the Taliban Post Date: 2011-08-14 17:29:01 by tom007

THE ROVING EYE US shocked and awed by the Taliban By Pepe Escobar Talk about a double whammy. It was not enough for Standard & Poor's to downgrade the United States' credit rating; with impeccable timing, and apparently a single shot, the Taliban in Afghanistan simultaneously downgraded the empire's colossal war machine. As much as the US power elite refuse to accept that the US financial crisis was caused by years of George W Bush tax cuts for the wealthy and mega-corporations; massive bailouts of banks and insurance companies; and astronomic military spending on the Pentagon's declinations of The Long War, the power elite will also refuse to acknowledge that the ...

New York Times Support for Imperial Wars - by Stephen Lendman The Times never met a US imperial war it didn't endorse or designated enemy it didn't vilify. Nor are concerns ever raised about constitutional and international law issues, crimes of war and against humanity, or mass slaughter and destruction. Only supporting the home team and winning matters, not right or wrong, or cost in terms of dollars and human lives. It's as true about Libya as US wars against Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, others ongoing directly or through proxies, as well as earlier ones, at least in their earlier stages. The Times strayed far from June 13, 1971 when it was the first broadsheet to begin ...

'168 Pakistani kids killed by US strikes' Thu Aug 11, 2011 4:5PM GMT There has been one drone attack every four days under President Obama. (file photo) A new report reveals the non-UN sanctioned US drone strikes have killed up to 168 children in Pakistan over the last seven years. Research by the London-based Bureau of Investigative Journalism has found that CIA drone attacks on Pakistan's tribal belt have led to far more deaths than previously mentioned. It says just over four percent of the nearly 2,900 people killed in the drone attacks have been militants. It reports the CIA has carried out 291 drone strikes in Pakistan since 2004 -- a figure eight percent higher than ...

KABUL, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Five soldiers with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops were killed in south Afghanistan on Thursday, a statement released by the alliance here said. "Five International Security Assistance Force service members died following an improvised explosive device attack in southern Afghanistan today," the statement added. However, it did not identify the nationalities of the victims, saying it is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities. Troops mostly from the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia have been serving in the southern provinces where Taliban militants are ...

Imperial Plans for Libya Post-Gaddafi - by Stephen Lendman A previous article suggested NATO's Libya war is unraveling, having misjudged the commitment of Libyans to resist, fight back, and support Gaddafi. Access it through the following link: http://sjlendman.blogspot.com/2011/08/natos-libya-war-unraveling.html Nonetheless, daily bombings continue intensively, averaging 51 daily strike sorties in the last week alone, targeting Tripoli and other Gaddafi controlled areas mercilessly. Despite clear evidence of war crimes, NATO claims civilians and civilian targets aren't struck. In fact, they're targeted deliberately and repeatedly, killing hundreds and injuring many more as ...
The Military Industrial Complex: The Enemy from Within Post Date: 2011-08-10 08:48:39 by Eric Stratton

The Military Industrial Complex: The Enemy from WithinBy John W. Whitehead 7/11/2011 Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes
known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.
No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.--James MadisonWhen a nation becomes obsessed with the guns of war, social programs must inevitably suffer. We can talk about guns and butter all we want to, but when the guns are there with all of its emphasis you don't even get good ...
US Terror Lists Should Be Downsized Post Date: 2011-08-10 06:21:12 by Ada

The Christian Science Monitor and the Huffington Post have exposed lobbying efforts by the Marxist-Islamist group Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) to hire for big bucks former high U.S. government officials to give speeches to, either explicitly or implicitly, endorse their efforts to get taken off the U.S. governments list of foreign terrorist organizations. Yet U.S. intelligence casts doubts about the groups abandonment of violence. Although the group has a record of killing a few Americans during the 1970s and has subsequently used violent tactics against Iranian targets, many neoconservatives and other prominent Americans, it seems would like to rehabilitate the image ...

Lets make one thing crystal clear, no member of the US military contributes in any way whatsoever to protecting the freedoms of the American people. As a matter of fact, they are more likely to turn their weapons on you than they are to defend your Constitutional rights. The only people on this planet Earth who can affect your freedom are members of Congress, local legislators and the members of enforcement institutions who will blindly follow the rulers who sign their paychecks. And, while your beloved troops are murdering people around the globe, yes, I said murdering, your Congress and local legislators are eliminating your freedoms, en masse, without any intervention by our ...
Pakistan TV Report Contradicts US Claim of Bin Laden’s Death Post Date: 2011-08-08 06:10:07 by Ada

In my recent article, "Creating Evidence Where There Is None," about the alleged killing of Osama bin Laden by a commando team of US Seals in Abbottabad, Pakistan, I provided a link to a Pakistani National TV interview with Muhammad Bashir, who lives next door to the alleged "compound" of Osama bin Laden. I described the story that Bashir gave of the "attack" and its enormous difference from the one told by the US government. In Bashairs account, every member of the landing party and anyone brought from the house died when the helicopter exploded on lift-off. I wrote that a qualified person could easily provide a translation of the interview, but that ...
Destabilizing Syria Post Date: 2011-08-08 04:26:09 by Stephen Lendman

Destabilizing Syria - by Stephen Lendman What began in January escalated to an uprising in March. Ever since, it's been violent, disruptive and widespread, killing hundreds, and injuring many more. The stakes are high. The entire region is affected. It's very similar to what began in Libya, pitting imperial powers against ruling governments for destabilization and control. In Libya, it's by war for regime change, colonization and plunder. In Syria, it's to establish another client state, no matter who heads it. More on that below. On August 3, Joshua Landis' Syria Comment site (joshualandis.com) headlined, "The Armed Gangs Controversy," saying: Some ...

Some Possibly Killed in Abbottabad Helicopter Crash Months Before By Gordon Duff, Senior Editor Today 31 NATO troops, 20 of them Navy Seals from the Osama bin Laden operation died in what is reported as a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. The chances of this story being true is almost nil. The chances of this being a staged coverup is over 80%. We believe these people were murdered to silence them. This is why. We have solid information on two areas: Osama bin Laden died in 2001 as an active CIA employee and his body was recovered in Afghanistan and taken to the sand box. We were told it was frozen. We have so much verification ...

IslamabadThe downing of a US helicopter in which 38 people, including 30 American Special Operations troops, were killed is an indication that Taliban are gaining strength as the US and NATO troops continue gradual withdrawal from Afghanistan. The development is significant since it will considerably weaken the US and Afghan forces psychologically. The incident shows that Taliban possess some accurate surface-to-air missiles. So far, nobody knows the type of missiles that was used. However, it could be Stinger missiles, which were supplied to the Mujahideen during the first Afghan Jihad against the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The Stingers changed the complexion of the war as ...
Questions raised by the SEAL Team 6 deaths in Afghanistan Post Date: 2011-08-07 22:56:11 by christine

In the deadliest day of the almost decade-long war in Afghanistan roughly 30 members of the American Special Forces, most of which belonged to the Navys SEAL Team 6, were killed in a Taliban rocket attack. A total of 38 people were killed in the crash, including 7 Afghans and an interpreter. However, it is being reported that none of the SEALs killed were part of the SEAL Team 6 operation that resulted in the execution of Osama bin Laden. Due to this fact, I think that much of the jumping to conclusions on this issue is unwarranted at this stage. It took minutes before the Internet was ablaze with chatter about the deaths of these American commandos. Much of the speculation ...

his story by h0;natoly TSYGANOK, director of the Center for Military Forecasting, Strategic Culture Foundation expert, was published in International Affairs magazine. NATOs military operation against Libya, conducted mainly by the armed forces of the US, France and Britain, is speeding up the formation of a new system of international relations. At the same time the war serves as a firing ground for testing the strategy of the United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM) in real combat situation as well as the efficiency of new weapons
US and NATO strategists were wrong counting that the military campaign would be completed in several weeks. Under resolution O0; 1973 of the UN ...

. Sixteen NATO supply vehicles transporting fuel destined for US-led forces in Afghanistan have gone up in flames in a bomb attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. A total of 28 tankers were parked at a terminal on the outskirts of the provincial capital Peshawar when an explosion triggered a fire that engulfed 16 of the vehicles, AFP reported. "We are trying to move away other oil tankers. We are not clear whether the bomb was planted in the terminal or with a tanker," police official Khurshid Khan said. "Sixteen tankers were completely destroyed." He added that there were no reports of any casualties. Mohammad Ijaz Khan, another senior police officer in Peshawar, ...
