Bin Laden lived in Pakistan compound 5-6 years: U.S. Soldiers keep guard around a compound within which al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden … WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Osama bin Laden lived for the past five to six years in the compound deep inside Pakistan where the al Qaeda leader was killed by U.S. forces, President Barack Obama's counterterrorism adviser said on Tuesday. Bin Laden, who was living in Afghanistan before a 2001 U.S.-led invasion helped topple its Taliban regime, was holed up in a compound in the military garrison town of Abbottabad in Pakistan before Sunday's operation to kill him. "Well I think the latest information is that he was in this compound for the ...

US official: Bin Laden skull blown apart WASHINGTON (AP) -- A U.S. official says Osama bin Laden was shot above his left eye, blowing away part of his skull. The precision kill shot was delivered by a member of Navy's elite SEAL Team Six during a pre-dawn raid Monday on bin Laden's hideout in Pakistan. Photos of bin Laden's injuries were transmitted to Washington as proof that the mission was a success. The administration wasn't releasing the photos Monday. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters.

Osama bin Laden’s Useful Death

In a propaganda piece reeking of US Triumphalism, two alleged journalists, Adam Goldman and Chris Brummitt, of the Associated Press or, rather, of the White House Ministry of Truth, write, or copy off a White House or CIA press release that "Osama bin Laden, the terror mastermind killed by Navy SEALs in an intense firefight, was hunted down based on information first gleaned years ago (emphasis added) from detainees at secret CIA prison sites in Eastern Europe, officials disclosed Monday." How many Americans will notice that the first paragraph of the "report" justifies CIA prisons and torture? Without secret prisons and torture "the terror mastermind" would ...

Whether Osama bin Laden departed the mortal realm for an unpleasant eternity years ago – as sober and serious people have reported – or last week in a firefight suitable for a sweeps week episode of NCIS, this much is certain: The government ruling us managed to turn that despicable creature into a prophet. "I tell you, freedom and human rights in America are doomed," bin Laden gloated shortly after 9-11. "The U.S. government will lead the American people, and the West in general, into an unbearable hell and a choking life." Osama's fondest wish was to see a civilizational conflict between the West and the Islamic world. A subsidiary desire was to see ...

It Still Wasn’t Worth It, and Is More War Coming?

The U.S. has finally killed Osama bin Laden, the press and the administration report. Many will say this vindicates the war on terrorism, but it doesn’t. The Wall Street Journal says, “The development capped a manhunt of more than a decade for the architect of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that left 3,000 people dead and dramatically altered U.S. foreign policy and the nation’s sense of security.” “Manhunt”? In fact, the U.S. response to 9/11 has been a minor revolution in American statecraft toward the principles of aggressive war, nationalism and centralized executive power. Hundreds of thousands have died. Trillions have been spent. Key civil liberties have ...

"1st Great War of the 21st Century" - by Stephen Lendman In 1980, pioneer trends strategist Gerald Celente founded The Trends Research Institute. He also authored Trends 2000 and publishes quarterly Trends Journal updates, providing timely, comprehensive, accurate business, economic, political, social, technology, and other forecasts on "over 300 different trend categories." His "1st Great War of the 21st Century" was just released, a comprehensive analysis discussed below, including facts like "(o)nly 45.4 percent of Americans had jobs in 2010, the lowest rate since 1983 and down from a 49.3 percent in 2000. Last year, just 66.8 percent of American men ...

Lies, Damn Lies, and Bin Laden's Death - by Stephen Lendman Winston Churchill rightly explained that "(a) lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on." He said it perhaps before television. For sure before 24-hour cable TV and modern technology instantly communicating globally. It applies to Obama's latest lie, announced at 11:35PM EDT on bin Laden, saying: "Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who's responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and ...

According to White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan, bin Laden's remains were buried "in strict conformance with Islamic precepts and practices." Brennan said the administration consulted "appropriate specialists and experts" before making the decision. "They can say they buried him at sea, but they cannot say they did it according to Islam," Mohammed al-Qubaisi, the highest religious law official in Dubai, said of the burial. "Sea burials are permissible for Muslims in extraordinary circumstances. This is not one of them." "If the family does not want him, it's really simple in Islam: You dig up a grave anywhere, even on a ...

Osama bin Laden’s Second Death

If today were April 1 and not May 2, we could dismiss as an April fool’s joke this morning’s headline that Osama bin Laden was killed in a firefight in Pakistan and quickly buried at sea. As it is, we must take it as more evidence that the US government has unlimited belief in the gullibility of Americans. Think about it. What are the chances that a person allegedly suffering from kidney disease and requiring dialysis and, in addition, afflicted with diabetes and low blood pressure, survived in mountain hideaways for a decade? If bin Laden was able to acquire dialysis equipment and medical care that his condition required, would not the shipment of dialysis equipment point to ...

Official: Bin Laden buried at sea

WASHINGTON – A U.S. official says Osama bin Laden has been buried at sea. After bin Laden was killed in a raid by U.S. forces in Pakistan, senior administration officials said the body would be handled according to Islamic practice and tradition. That practice calls for the body to be buried within 24 hours, the official said. Finding a country willing to accept the remains of the world's most wanted terrorist would have been difficult, the official said. So the U.S. decided to bury him at sea. The official, who spoke Monday on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive national security matters, did not immediately say where that occurred.

Bin laden never mentioned in Mcchrystal report or Obama speech "Hunt for bin laden” a national shame Conservative commentator, former Marine Colonel Bob Pappas has been saying for years that bin Laden died at Tora Bora and that Senator Kerry’s claim that bin Laden escaped with Bush help was a lie. Now we know that Pappas was correct. The embarrassment of having Secretary of State Clinton talk about bin Laden in Pakistan was horrific. He has been dead since December 13, 2001 and now, finally, everyone, Obama, McChrystal, Cheney, everyone who isn’t nuts is finally saying what they have known for years. However, since we lost a couple of hundred of our top special ...

Even before we knew the details surrounding the death of Osama bin Laden, his demise was being hailed as the “end of an era.” The Global War on Terrorism, which we’ve been fighting for the last decade in several theaters simultaneously, has been defined in terms of catching and killing this iconic figure. Now that he’s dead – with the US reportedly in possession of the body – can we declare victory and go home? Of course not. You didn’t think the Powers That Be would let us get off quite so easily, now did you? In his speech to the nation, the President twice cautioned that this doesn’t mean the end of the fight, and the pundits have followed ...

Every time the US waves the bloody shirt of Osama, it has a purpose. Obama has been drastically weakened in recent months, and the US has been hurt by murdering Gadaffi’s family members. The mass-killing in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, etc. is not going well. The economy is a wreck. Dollar debasement is speeding up. Gasoline prices are high. So…tah-dah…the body of Osama bin Laden for our edification and distration. It may even be true. Certainly the CIA will assure us that its DNA test proves it. UPDATE from Darien Sumner: In re: Osama bin Laden’s death, here are the first three things that went through my mind: 1) Congratulations to the United States government on ...

Al Jazeera's War on Syria - by Stephen Lendman A previous article discussed Al Jazeera's war on Gaddafi, accessed through the following link: http://sjlendman.blogspot.com/2011/04/al-jazeeras-war-on-gaddafi.html Discussing its recent programming, it explained how compromised it's become. For example on Libya, it's been largely Western/Qatari propaganda, not legitimate news, information, and analysis. It's Syria coverage has been similar, providing its host country regime friendly reporting. Qatar is part of the Washington-led NATO anti-Gaddafi coalition. Shamelessly, Al Jazeera News channel (JNC) is on board supporting it. Like America's media and BBC, JNC's ...

Osama Bin Laden's death is being celebrated, and everyone seems to repeat the old myth that he was indeed the mastermind behind the terror attacks of 9/11. Osama Bin Laden was never formally charged. At least that is what the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation says, which is responsible for reporting to the Department of Justice in this matter. If anyone is surprised by this fact, which one could be excused for as it is very rarely mentioned by your friendly television pundit, read for yourself what Rex Tom, FBI Director of Investigative Publicity, stated about the FBI's position: “The FBI gathers evidence. Once evidence is gathered, it is turned over to the Department of ...

NEW YORK – Hundreds of jubilant people streamed to the spot where the World Trade Center fell almost 10 years ago, waving American flags, snapping pictures and breaking into song early Monday to celebrate the death of Osama bin Laden with the boisterous enthusiasm of a Times Square New Year's Eve crowd. Many waved American flags or took pictures. One man climbed a light pole and waved the American flag to cheers below while others broke into song with renditions of "God Bless America" and "The Star-Spangled Banner." It was easily the happiest crowd ever at a site where more familiar scenes are bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace" and solemn speeches ...

Million Dollar Men -- American Soldiers in Afghanistan

The government spends over a million dollars per annum per soldier in Afghanistan and after almost 10 years of occupation—the longest war in American history—the American public tacitly accepts the responsibly of this enormous financial burden without question. Going back almost a decade it is imperative to understand and to appreciate why America finds herself in Afghanistan. We were told in November, 2001 by the New York Times in an opinion column entitled Liberating the Women of Afghanistan, that “the reclaimed freedom of Afghan women is a collateral benefit that Americans can celebrate.” It was another comical propaganda ploy at convincing us that America’s ...

America's New Middle East Agenda - by Stephen Lendman A previous article on Syria quoted Middle East analyst Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya, explaining Washington's longstanding plan to "creat(e) an arc of instability, chaos, and violence extending from Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria to Iraq, the Persian Gulf, Iran, and the borders of NATO-garrisoned Afghanistan." He explained it also includes redrawing the Eurasian map, balkanizing or reconfiguring countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Jordan, perhaps Baltic states, the entire Persian Gulf, Syria, Lebanon, and, of course, Libya to assure Western control of its valued resources, besides already having ...

US Intervention in Syria - by Stephen Lendman Despite genuine popular Middle East/North Africa uprisings, Washington's dirty hands orchestrated regime change plans in Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Jordan, and Syria as part of its "New Middle East" project. On November 18, 2006, Middle East analyst Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya's Global Research article headlined, "Plans for Redrawing the Middle East: The Project for a 'New Middle East,' " saying: In June 2006 in Tel Aviv, "US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice (first) coin(ed) the term" in place of the former "Greater Middle East" project, a shift in rhetoric only for Washington's longstanding ...

KABUL, Afghanistan -- An Afghan military pilot killed eight American soldiers and a US contractor at the Kabul airport yesterday after they argued at a meeting, officials said. It was the deadliest episode of an Afghan turning against his coalition partners. The veteran military pilot was himself killed during the attack, and five Afghan soldiers were injured. A Pentagon spokesman, Col. Dave Lapan, said all nine of those killed by the pilot were Americans. The Afghan Defense Ministry said the killer fired on the Americans after an argument in an operations room of the Afghan Air Corps at Kabul airport. "Suddenly, in the middle of the meeting, shooting started," said Afghan Air ...

America's Terminal Decline - by Stephen Lendman What distinguished experts long knew (timetables aside), the IMF just recognized, saying China's economy will surpass America's in 2016. If so, it will signal an end to the "Age of America," and no wonder after decades of heedless profligacy. More on that below. The IMF's 2011 World Economic Outlook shows China overtaking America in five years based on purchasing power parity (PPP) - a criterion for an appropriate exchange rate between currencies as measured by the cost of a representative basket of goods in one country v. another. IMF's 2016 PPP GDP estimate: -- China - $18,975.7 trillion -- America - $18,80 ...

Leaked Docs: Osama Didn’t Flee to Pakistan After All

Escape From Tora Bora Led Northeast, Officials Believe Despite a solid decade of US officials insisting that Osama bin Laden fled from Tora Bora to Pakistan and remains there to this day, new leaked document show that this is not the case. Rather, US officials collected considerable evidence that bin Laden did not flee to Pakistan, but deeper into Afghanistan. The documents cites information from detainees familiar with the escape, and said bin Laden was escorted out of Tora Bora to the northeast, and wound up in the Kunar Province. He remained there for at least 10 months. There was no indication where he went from there. Ayman al-Zawahiri, on the other hand, did flee to Pakistan, but ...
