Ten Nato soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan in the deadliest day in months for the International Security Assistance Force (Isaf). In the worst of several attacks, five US soldiers died in an improvised bomb blast in east Afghanistan, the US said. Five other Nato troops were killed in a spate of attacks across the country's restive south, where Isaf is battling the Taliban. The militants have been waging a battle to overthrow the US-backed government. The UK Ministry of Defence said no British troops were killed in Monday's attacks. Taliban talks? The deaths come as the last of 35,000 extra troops ordered by US President Barack Obama arrives in the country. Continue ...
Tea Partiers May Need the ACLU Soon Post Date: 2010-06-07 06:46:16 by Ada

It seems that our representatives in Washington want Americans to know that, instead of studying the ideas of the Founding Fathers on the appropriate way governments should treat people, the DC ignoramuses have taken on the wisdom of the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. And, ironically, many people in the Tea Party movement who have been supporting Bush war policies may be the ones regretting such support. The most recent examples of our leaders rushing to violate our liberty in the name of fighting terrorism or other government-caused problems include Senator Joe Liebermans legislation to remove citizenship from suspected terrorists or terrorism abettors, and a proposal from Sen. ...
A Tea Party to Nowhere Post Date: 2010-06-06 09:36:58 by F.A. Hayek Fan

The Tea Party phenomenon has attracted a good deal of both good and bad attention in the media. Though it would perhaps be a stretch to describe it as a movement in that it has only limited organization and focus, it does tap into a genuine disconnect between the American people and the federal government in Washington. Most Tea Partiers claim to want smaller and cheaper government, less interference from Washington in their daily lives, and fewer programs that are intended to socially re-engineer the nation. So far, so good, but then comes the huge failure to comprehend that is as wide as the Grand Canyon. Most also want a strong, assertive national defense and are supporters of an ...

We made it through another Memorial Day. Thankfully, most people think of it as just the start of summer. They dont seem to use it as Americas political leaders have long wanted: as a day of reverence for Americas world domination. In his radio address this past Saturday President Obama urged all Americans to serve the members of the armed forces as well as they served us. He called on us to remember the 5,400 Americans who laid down their lives in defense of their fellow citizens in Iraq and Afghanistan. He assured us that the men and women serving this country around the world have the support they need to achieve their missions ...
Obama secretly deploys US special forces to 75 countries across world Post Date: 2010-06-05 17:54:21 by Horse

President Obama has secretly sanctioned a huge increase in the number of US special forces carrying out search-and-destroy missions against al-Qaeda around the world, with American troops now operating in 75 countries. The dramatic expansion in the use of special forces, which in their global span go far beyond the covert missions authorised by George W. Bush, reflects how aggressively the President is pursuing al-Qaeda behind his public rhetoric of global engagement and diplomacy. When Mr Obama took office US special forces were operating in fewer than 60 countries. In the past 18 months he has ordered a big expansion in Yemen and the Horn of Africa known areas of strong al-Qaeda ...

Canada Gives $30 Million to Muslim Terrorists June 1, 2010 Last week, the Aga Khan, (above) received a $30 million grant from the Canadian government for a "global center to promote diversity." None of the Opposition parties bothered to ask why the Canadian government gave this tidy sum to one of the richest men on the planet. by David Livingstone (for henrymakow.com) The prominence of the Aga Khan family may be attributable to the Occult and to their association with Illuminati terrorism. The Aga Khan is the hereditary leader of 15 million Ismaili Muslims who trace their descent directly to the notorious Assassins of Islam. Many believe that the Knights Templars learned ...

CAIRO An Egyptian official says the government is temporarily lifting its blockade of the Gaza Strip to allow aid into the area a day after Israel raided an international flotilla carrying supplies to the Palestinian territory and killed nine activists. The governor of northern Sinai, Murad Muwafi, says President Hosni Mubarak ordered the opening of the border crossing to Gaza in the town of Rafah for several days. Muwafi says the opening of the crossing which Egypt sealed after Gaza was taken over by Hamas militants in 2007 is an effort to "alleviate the suffering of our Palestinian brothers after the Israeli attack" on the flotilla. THIS IS A BREAKING ...

One Week to Stop $33.5 Billion for War Escalation DefundWar.org logo The Senate, as expected, has already passed the bill, but the House is always where we've had a chance and is all we need. Your representative in the House is home in his or her district this week, a perfect opportunity for you to talk to them before they return to Washington, D.C., next week and vote $33.5 billion to escalate the Afghan war. The most prominent excuse you'll hear is that good things may be packaged into the same bill. But those good things will n ot outweigh the damage done by the war escalation and could be passed separately. We cannot afford the human or financial cost. And the blowback from ...

Turkey, Brazil Lash US Over Iran Hypocrisy - US Reiterates Opposition to Deal it Once Touted (U.S. negotiating in bad faith and gets caught) Post Date: 2010-05-29 09:53:59 by F.A. Hayek Fan

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has conceded that there is a “very serious” split with Brazil, over the third party enrichment deal on Iran, saying it is her belief that Iran will only negotiate once the sanctions are in place.
The hypocrisy of the US position, and the absurdity of Clinton’s claims considering Brazil and Turkey just finished negotiating successfully with Iran is not lost on either nation, and both have taken the US and other members of the P5+1 to task for their sudden opposition to diplomacy.
“Who are they to talk against the idea of having nuclear weapons,” Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked. The five permanent members of the UN Security Council all ...

Its near-impossible to find anyone in Afghanistan who doesnt believe the US are funding the Taliban: and its the highly educated Afghan professionals, those employed by ISAF, USAID, international media organizations and even advising US diplomats who seem the most convinced, reports the Guardian today. The US has an interest in prolonging the conflict so as to stay in Afghanistan for the long term, said one Afghan. It does not take a lot of research to prove the Taliban and al-Qaeda were fabricated by the CIA in league with Pakistani and Saudi Arabian intelligence. Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari said the Taliban ...

A little-noticed blog post by a veteran intelligence reporter averred Tuesday that the CIA's Iraq Operations Group weighed a plan prior to the 2003 Iraq invasion that sought to discredit Saddam Hussein by portraying him as gay. According to Jeff Stein, a longtime intelligence reporter who first revealed that FBI officials had eavesdropped on a sitting Democratic congresswoman, the CIA's Iraq Operations Group considered creating a video that would the then-Iraqi leader having intercourse with a teenage boy. It would look like it was taken by a hidden camera, a former CIA official purportedly told Stein. Very grainy, like it was a secret videotaping of a sex ...

KABUL, Afghanistan The U.S. military's workhorse rifle used in battle for the last 40 years is proving less effective in Afghanistan against the Taliban's more primitive but longer range weapons. As a result, the U.S. is reevaluating the performance of its standard M-4 rifle and considering a switch to weapons that fire a larger round largely discarded in the 1960s. The M-4 is an updated version of the M-16, which was designed for close quarters combat in Vietnam. It worked well in Iraq, where much of the fighting was in cities such as Baghdad, Ramadi and Fallujah. But a U.S. Army study found that the 5.56 mm bullets fired from M-4s don't retain enough ...
