Memorial Day

Memorial Day Memorial Day is their day, isn't it? It is supposed to be the day a grateful nation pauses to quietly thank the more than one million men and women who have died in military service to their country since the Revolutionary War. Or is it the day the beach resorts kick into high gear for the summer season, the day the strand is covered by fish-belly white people basting themselves in coconut oil, the day the off-season rates end and the weekend you can't get in a seaside seafood restaurant with anything less than a one hour wait. Or is is one of the biggest shopping center sales days of the year, a day when hunting for a parking space is the prime sport for the holiday ...

Brainwashing and the New Vocabulary: 12 Words and Phrases I Never Want to Hear Again

Remember how after September 11th happened, there was that nasty bill that formed the TSA and authorized all sorts of surveillance against the American people and they called it, ironically, The Patriot Act? Of course, we knew then that the bill was anything but patriotic, however, that didn’t stop it from being passed and trampling all over the Constitution. The word “patriot” was perverted by those in power who wanted everyone to fall into lockstep with the unconstitutional searches at airports and many other invasions into our privacy. Which brings us to another word that doesn’t mean what people think it means – it was all done in the name of ...

There’s no reason to ignore the mounting evidence that Obama administration officials were corrupt in their handling of the Trump–Russia investigation. There’s no reason to ignore the mounting evidence that Obama administration officials were corrupt in their handling of the Trump–Russia investigation. Those sharing #Obamagate hashtags on Twitter would do best to avoid the hysterics we saw from Russian-collusion believers, but they have no reason to ignore the mounting evidence that suggests the Obama administration engaged in serious corruption. Democrats and their allies, who like to pretend that President Obama’s only scandalous act was wearing a tan suit, ...

So Far, Experts And Expertise Have Not Performed Exactly Brilliantly In This Century [Full Thread]

The fallen state of experts: How can governments learn from their expert failings? Today we have the “rule of experts.” Monopoly experts have the power to choose for you in one field after another, including child protective services, economic policy, and pandemic response. But if you give some humans the monopoly power to choose for other humans, you have created some dangerous incentives. The rule of experts gives you the highest chance of expert failure. We should value expertise, but fear expert power. Whenever possible, then, we should do away with the rule of experts by empowering the people. Let each person choose for themself, and let the experts compete with each other ...

Fraud Fauci Claims Second Infection Wave is “Inevitable”

The fraud Fauci is claiming that a second infection wave is “inevitable.” Washington Post: As antsy Americans show growing signs of “quarantine fatigue” and officials face pressure to ease coronavirus restrictions, factories, malls and state governments in many parts of the country are taking steps toward reopening. But Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said a second wave of infections is “inevitable” in the United States, which has recorded more than 1 million confirmed cases — nearly one-third of the global total. Fauci also warned that “we could be in for a bad fall and a bad ...

Matthew Brown broke into Janet Hamnett’s home naked and beat her with a broomstick handle, screaming like an animal. A judge acquitted him of assault because he was high. Matthew Brown beat Mount Royal University professor Janet Hamnett while he was high on shrooms. Photo via Mount Royal University Cougars Janet Hamnett woke up in the early morning hours of January 13, 2018 to the sound of her glass patio door being smashed into pieces. It was so loud, Hamnett, then 66, thought her furnace had exploded. When she walked out of the bedroom of her Springbank, Calgary, home, where she lived alone, Hamnett, a public relations professor at Mount Royal University, was attacked by a ...

The Taker

We all know the type: The Taker. The kind who, irrespective of personal wealth, wriggles out of buying his round, the type who contributes nothing in group situations, instead watching closely for any opportunity for personal gain, the type who takes credit for a work colleague's achievement, the type who in a sporting context will go for personal glory and fail when a simple pass to a colleague would have resulted in a guaranteed score. The Taker. Every interaction and transaction is analysed for the possibility of personal gain. To him personal loyalty means nothing. He'll use people until they're no longer useful and then drop them without a second thought. Such people are ...

Observations of an Anonymous UPS Driver: “Customers I’ve Seen Since the ‘Rona” Types of customers since the “rona”: 1) Steve: He has been waiting for this moment his whole life. He has been drinking boilermakers since 10:00 am in his recliner and his AR is within arms reach. He has 6 months provisions in the basement and a bug out bag due west buried in the woods. Steve demands a handshake as I give him his package. He’s sizing me up as I deliver his ammo. Steve will survive this, and he will kill you if he needs to. 2) Brad: He is standing at his window wearing skinny jeans and a Patagonia t-shirt. He is mad because there were no organic ...

Boris' deputies

Poor old Boris Johnson has really got a bad dose of 'the virus' and is clearly incapacitated. So a temporary leader had to be appointed. This anointed one had to come from one of the three major Cabinet positions: Home Secretary, Foreign Secretary or Chancellor of the Exchequer. It's interesting that none of the current occupants - and probably future ones well - is a True Brit. By far the closest is the current Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab whose mother is British but whose father was a Jew from Czechoslovakia. The other two are Indian. A bit like Ireland's PM. Isn't it extraordinary - or is it, really - that nobody of traditional British stock is up to the job? And. ...

The Fauci Fiasco

Anthony Fauci is not the great scientist you think he is. Every time I see someone praising Dr. Anthony Fauci to the skies on television, I say, "Oy Vey!" As someone who has watched the career of Anthony Fauci closely for almost four decades, the current uncritical adulation emanating from Laurie Garrett, Rachel Maddow, and everyone else in the media is disheartening. The Anthony Fauci I know is the one my newspaper covered. I published New York Native from 1980-1997. As luck or destiny would have it, I found myself at the helm of a Manhattan newspaper that was published at ground zero of the AIDS epidemic. My newspaper inadvertently published the first story about the illness ...

Locked Down in Third World California

As I type these words, Californians are under a mandatory “stay at home” edict issued by the Patrick Bateman cosplayer in our statehouse. Any Californian caught leaving his, her, its, or zir home for “nonessential” reasons is subject to fine or imprisonment. Yes, the state that removed criminal penalties for knowingly giving someone AIDS has imposed criminal penalties on anyone who might inadvertently spread Wuhanvirus. Yes, the open-borders governor who claims he has no moral authority to tell Mexicans to stay out has ordered all Californians to stay in. And yes, the state that’s rapidly decriminalizing property crimes has criminalized going outdoors. A ...

So , NY is among one of the state's locked down yesterday. School and administrative closings had already begun Monday but Friday is when it all went live and large. In my small town of less than a thousand people it has gotten super quiet. Much more than normal. For the most part. My apartment building is full of assholes that give no shits about quarantines and lock downs and are treating this all as vacation time. In and out all hours of the day and night. If their is covid in our particular area of Clinton County they are doing their best to find it and bring it back with them. As it stands , media says clinton has 3 cases and Essex has one. My small town is on the border of both. ...

It has come to my attention that there's been some kind of virus pandemic and panic afoot, and we're apparently all gonna die. (I haven't heard much from the MSM or anywhere else about it. Has it been some kind of secret? What have I missed??) Anyway.... My recent observation: There they were -- the fat & stupid; old & parsnippity; skinny & spastic; basically, anyone with a pulse had been milling around a supermarket and drug store like chickens without heads, pilling carts to the rafters, cleaning the shelves of items from toilet paper-to-Clorox-to-food stuffs and produce. In my email box are several new warnings, advice, and "the latest" from ...

“Every day in communities across the United States, children and adolescents spend the majority of their waking hours in schools that have increasingly come to resemble places of detention more than places of learning.”—Investigative journalist Annette Fuentes Just when you thought the government couldn’t get any more tone-deaf about civil liberties and the growing need to protect “we the people” against an overreaching, overbearing police state, the Trump Administration ushers in even more strident zero tolerance policies that treat children like suspects and criminals, greater numbers of school cops, and all the trappings of a prison complex (unsurmountable ...

THE DETAILS of the U.S. government’s descent into torture as an anti-terrorism tactic have been publicly rehearsed many times in the 18-plus years since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Nevertheless, the mistreatment of alleged al-Qaeda detainees at CIA “black site” prisons around the world retain their power to shock. And so it was shocking to hear a retired Air Force psychologist describe it in his first public sworn statement, even though he has written a book and given many interviews. One alleged al-Qaeda terrorist, Abu Zubaydah, was “waterboarded” so severely that he began having involuntary body spasms and began to cry, James Mitchell told a military ...

Who Killed The Weekly Standard? The bureaucratic mind has a temporary triumph. By David Brooks Opinion Columnist Dec. 15, 2018 Steve Hayes, editor in chief of The Weekly Standard, at his office in Washington. Credit... Lexey Swall for The New York Times I’ve only been around Phil Anschutz a few times. My impressions on those occasions was that he was a run-of-the-mill arrogant billionaire. He was used to people courting him and he addressed them condescendingly from the lofty height of his own wealth. I’ve never met Ryan McKibben, who runs part of Anschutz’s media group. But stories about him have circulated around Washington over the years. The stories suggest that ...

Communism's long shadow stalks South Africa by Marian Tupy | February 02, 2020 12:00 AM On Feb. 2, 1990, South Africa’s last white president, F. W. de Klerk, rose in that country’s Parliament to unban a number of largely black political parties, including the African National Congress and the South African Communist Party. He also announced Nelson Mandela’s release from jail and the government’s intention to repeal the last remaining apartheid laws. As De Klerk later noted, the collapse of communism in Central and Eastern Europe in 1989 provided the South African government with a unique opportunity to assuage the concerns of the white electorate, which feared the ...

The impeachment evidence will catch up to Republicans and Trump — whether they ignore it or not President Trump at the White House on Jan. 17. (Oliver Contreras/For The Washington Post) By Editorial Board Jan. 24, 2020 at 3:36 p.m. CST DONALD TRUMP’S presidency has been, among other things, a war against truth. So it’s fitting that in making the case for his removal from office this week, House impeachment managers showered the Senate with facts. Over and over again, Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) and his co-managers laid out the hard evidence that Mr. Trump used presidential powers to pressure Ukraine into announcing investigations that would aid his reelection ...

Just to let those of you who may be visiting and don't know about it. This site has a "bozo filter" which allows you to screen out comments from trolls. The great thing about it is that it cleans up the "Latest Comments" list, so trolls don't even show up there. It helps when there are trolls like Liberator and FormerLurker who are determined to clog up the "Latest Comments" page with idiotic trash. Got to "Setup" then clik the tab "Content Filters" then put in the name(s) of the troll(s). Shazzam! They no longer appear anywhere. Enjoy!

Many decades ago there was an issue of Mad comics that portrayed a future time when everything was done by robots and humans had no function.  One day the system failed. As it had been eons since humans had to do anything, no one knew how to fix the system.  It was Mad comics version of Armageddon. I think that is where the digital revolution is taking us.  I remember when appliances and cars responded to humans, and now humans respond to them.  When I grew up cars and home appliances did not go “beep-beep” to remind you of the things you were supposed to do, such as turn off the car lights and take the keys out of the ignition, or turn off the oven and shut ...
