# David Dinsdale (+8) * * 0 * ReplyShow 3 days ago: May I state an example. There's a Chinese restaurant that makes food, one if it's biggest costumers is an American. The Chinese workers are poor and can't afford to buy enough food for themselves. Now the American costumer says he's broke and wont be able to pay for the food if not someone lends him money. The Chinese workers say "Hey we can't loose our biggest costumer so we lend him the money". Does this make sense? Or would it make more sense if the Chinese workers would kick out the broke American and eat the food themselves? * thumb Adrian Azzopardi (+8833) o o +4 o Show 3 days ago: Your analogy ...

Republican Agenda: Can You Figure It Out? 9Share Submitted by BuzzFlash on Sat, 10/30/2010 - 8:17am. * Guest Commentary MIRIAM MILNE FOR BUZZFLASH Midterm elections have a certain logic to them. The party out of power wants a seat so they can "force the President to the table," so they can bring moderation to what is seen as an extremist agenda. Such was the force behind President Reagan's midterm defeat in 1982, when Democrats made big gains after Reagan's first round of tax cuts worsened, rather than improved, unemployment. Similarly, the 1994 "Contract with America" was a repudiation of all things Hillary, and supposedly forced Bill Clinton's agenda to ...

people are always offended at photos of aborted fetuses. i know that neither republicans nor democrats have any interest in ever outlawing abortion. would 'God bless' a nation that has killed minimum 50 million babies, not to mention 1 million iraqis? what kind of deranged kook would believe that? if anything, satan is reigning down his approval on 'Amurika'. This day of monsters & goblins fits right in with the soul of murika. halloween should be our national holiday.

Work Till 70? Yes, if Boehner and Republicans Have Their Way by Mike Hall, Oct 26, 2010 Bookmark and Share 426Share If Republicans take over Congress, House Republican Minority Leader John Boehner says he will move to raise the Social Security retirement age to 70. That might not seem to be a big deal to someone who has spent his life in cushy offices with fancy perks, luxury cars, good health care and not much heavy lifting. But for millions of seniors in physically demanding jobs, it’s a big, big deal. A new TV ad from Protecting America’s Retirees, an independent project of the Alliance for Retired Americans, takes a light-hearted look at the very serious subject of ...

The wretched mind of the American authoritarian

The wretched mind of the American authoritarian By Glenn Greenwald * Decadent governments often spawn a decadent citizenry. A 22-year-old Nebraska resident was arrested yesterday for waterboarding his girlfriend as she was tied to a couch, because he wanted to know if she was cheating on him with another man; I wonder where he learned that? There are less dramatic though no less nauseating examples of this dynamic. In The Chicago Tribune today, there is an Op-Ed from Jonah Goldberg -- the supreme, living embodiment of a cowardly war cheerleader -- headlined: "Why is Assange still alive?" It begins this way: I'd like to ask a simple question: Why isn't Julian Assange ...

The whole thing is wrong. How did we get into this mess? How can we ever get out? That’s my political outlook in a nutshell. Not so long ago, I was comfortably nestled into the Republican Party, confident that Ronald Reagan would set the world right. Oh, how naive! I shouldn’t even be confessing this in public. Well, here I am, much sadder but somewhat wiser, living under a government that kept expanding without limit during and after Reagan, while running up a national debt that would have made Jefferson — or for that matter, Franklin Roosevelt — ask whether he heard you right; and of course the moral and cultural garbage we live amidst seems to be getting ...

The AP reported armed security guards will be on hand at these offices to insure the safety of their clients and employees.Department of Workforce Development spokesman Marc Lotter told the Ft.Wayne Journal that the agency is merely being cautious with the approach of an early December deadline when thousands of Indiana residents will see their unemployment insurance expire, even after the 99 week extension from the federal government. Interesting to find out who will provide these security guards. If it is happening here, most assuredly it is going to be nationwide...I wonder who would have that many security guards..lots of security guards, maybe we could get XE? This country is wounded.

October 25, 2010 4:00 A.M. Heinlein’s Conservatism A new biography explores the political evolution of a first-rate science-fiction writer. Ask a science-fiction fan who the three greatest writers of the 20th century were and you’ll start an argument that will last all day, but the consensus remains that they were Isaac Asimov, Sir Arthur C. Clarke, and Robert A. Heinlein. Clarke kept politics out of his novels. Asimov was a devoutly liberal Democrat; liberal New York Times columnist Paul Krugman has repeatedly stated that his teenage enjoyment of Asimov’s Foundation series, which depicts a precisely planned and controlled future, inspired him to become an economist and a ...

The Shaming of America Our writer delivers a searing dispatch after the WikiLeaks revelations that expose in detail the brutality of the war in Iraq - and the astonishing, disgraceful deceit of the US by Robert Fisk As usual, the Arabs knew. They knew all about the mass torture, the promiscuous shooting of civilians, the outrageous use of air power against family homes, the vicious American and British mercenaries, the cemeteries of the innocent dead. All of Iraq knew. Because they were the victims. Only we could pretend we did not know. Only we in the West could counter every claim, every allegation against the Americans or British with some worthy general - the ghastly US military ...

The Perfect Storm Monday 18 October 2010 by: Robert Reich | RobertReich.org It's a perfect storm. And I'm not talking about the impending dangers facing Democrats. I'm talking about the dangers facing our democracy. First, income in America is now more concentrated in fewer hands than it's been in 80 years. Almost a quarter of total income generated in the United States is going to the top 1 percent of Americans. The top one-tenth of one percent of Americans now earn as much as the bottom 120 million of us. Who are these people? With the exception of a few entrepreneurs like Bill Gates, they're top executives of big corporations and Wall Street, hedge-fund ...

Eight False Things the Public "Knows" Prior to Election Day Friday 22 October 2010 by: Dave Johnson | Campaign for America's Future | Report There are a number of things the public "knows" as we head into the election that are just false. If people elect leaders based on false information, the things those leaders do in office will not be what the public expects or needs. Here are eight of the biggest myths that are out there: 1) President Obama tripled the deficit. Reality: Bush's last budget had a $1.416 trillion deficit. Obama's first budget reduced that to $1.29 trillion. 2) President Obama raised taxes, which hurt the economy. Reality: Obama cut ...
