Lara Logan, You Suck by Matt Taibbi Lara Logan, come on down! You're the next guest on Hysterical Backstabbing Jealous Hackfest 2010! I thought I'd seen everything when I read David Brooks saying out loud in a New York Times column that reporters should sit on damaging comments to save their sources from their own idiocy. But now we get CBS News Chief Foreign Correspondent Lara Logan slamming our own Michael Hastings on CNN's "Reliable Sources" program, agreeing that the Rolling Stone reporter violated an "unspoken agreement" that journalists are not supposed to "embarrass [the troops] by reporting insults and banter." Anyone who wants to know ...

Taliban attacks Nato base Isaf said the Taliban did not breach the perimeter of the Nato base [AFP] The Taliban have attacked a Nato base in Jalalabad, eastern Afghanistan to "send a message to David Petraeus," the general expected to take command of the US mission in the country. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and US helicopters were seen hovering around the airfield at the base on Wednesday. The Taliban told Al Jazeera six men took part the attack. While a suicide bomber detonated himself in a vehicle at the gate of the base, other fighters armed with AK47s and rocket-propelled grenades stormed the airport, they said. Nato's International Security Assitance Force ...

Cop Killer’s Funeral Gets Police Escort

What a country this is becoming, thanks to Diversity and Affirmative Action. About a month ago, Dallas hired a new police chief, David Brown, a black man. Last week, his 27 year old son David Brown, Jr killed a man, and then killed a cop who responded to the scene. Yesterday was David Brown, Jr’s funeral, and the cop killer’s funeral was given a police escort “out of respect for the chief.” Don’t you just love multi-cultural America, where police chief’s sons are cop killers, and cop killers get police escorts for their funeral? "A cop-killer who is the son of the Dallas police chief continued to stir deep emotions Friday as he headed to his grave. An ...

In response to a letter I wrote Mike, his response was predictably dissapointing. Here it is: Dear Thomas and Susan: Thank you for contacting me regarding the recent incident between members of Israel’s defense forces and several cargo ships. I appreciate hearing from you. As you may know, on May 31, 2010, Israeli Defense Forces attempted to board and redirect six vessels bound for Gaza. The cargo ships were carrying 10,000 tons of aid materials. While five of the six ships were peacefully redirected to the Israeli port of Ashdod for inspection, the boarding of the sixth ship, the Mavi Marmara, became violent. The events of May 31st are not yet clear. Initial reports indicate ...

The Internet is abuzz with news that a US Senate committee has approved a bill that apparently gives the President authority to shut down the Internet. According to TechWorld.com, "A US Senate committee has approved a wide-ranging cybersecurity bill that some critics have suggested would give the US president the authority to shut down parts of the Internet during a cyberattack." The report continues by saying, "The bill, introduced earlier this month [by Senators Joe Lieberman, I-Connecticut, Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Thomas Carper, D-Delaware], would establish a White House Office for Cyberspace Policy and a National Center for Cybersecurity and Communications, which ...

When U.S. President Barack Obama’s white mother married his black African father, in 1961, black-and-white marriages were one in 1,000 and inter-racial marriages were banned by law in 15 American states. Even where they were legal, mixed marriages were widely considered taboo. Fast forward to the present and more than six out of 10 Americans approve of marriages between whites and non-whites. In 2008, one out of seven of all new marriages in the United States were between spouses of different races or ethnicities, according to a study that looked at blacks, whites, Asians and Hispanics. The 2008 rate, a record, was double that of 1980 and six times that of 1960, partly because of ...

No Iran Attack Until Oil Futures Spike

There can be no war in the Persian Gulf until Wall Street gives its final say so. If they knew war was going to break out next week the price of oil would soar this week. Iran has suffucient weapons to protect itself against a conventional attack. They have SS-N-22 and SS-N-26X anti-ship missiles. They have 150 kilometer range rocket artilley. The Iranians also have the Chinese HQ-9 anti-aircraft missile. They can sink the US fleet. The US has troops from US Central Command and AFRICOM stationed in two dozen Muslim nations who would all be slaughtered within days. The only attack that makes sense would be to launch 100 missiles with 220 kiloton warheads and air burst them so no Iranian ...

Should We Rename the 4th of July Dependence Day?

Since so many Americans have been trained to be dependent upon the government(s), I'm thinking we should rename the "holiday" for what America now stands for. Originally we broke away from similar control by the British to come and be individually free so that our happiness or lack thereof would be forged by us as individuals. Today however the end all to be all in "happiness" and equality appears to be money such that the PTB are attempting to get us all to be "equally" on the lower middle class scale, and to date have been succeeding. Forget the fact that "some animals [the pigs] are more equal than others." Thoughts? Click for Full Text!

WHAT IF ISRAEL IS BEHIND THE TERRORISTS? By Michael Rivero Just for a moment, I want you to consider the possibility that maybe 99% of the terrorists in the world are manufactured fakes, a bloody theater to serve the interests not of fringe groups, but of entire nation-states? Now before you laugh and head off to get a coffee, just stop and think for a moment. Would any real group of oppressed people needing the support of world opinion to affect change intentionally set out to commit such an horrific atrocity that it destroys that very support? Let us say that Nation A is being cruelly oppressed by Nation B. Nation A has succeeded in winning world sympathy and support for the harsh and ...

Twenty-Two Reasons Why American Working People Hate the State by James Petras Global Research, June 18, 2010 Email this article to a friend Print this article 1diggdigg StumbleUpon Submit Introduction Why does the rightwing attack on “Big Government” increasingly resonate with working people? Liberals claim wage and salaried workers are acting against their “self-interest”, citing government welfare programs like social security and unemployment payments. Progressives argue that workers hostile to the state are ‘racists”, “fundamentalists” and/or irrational, blinded by misplaced fears of threats to individual freedoms. I will argue there ...

Republicans Inflicting Big Pain on Americans for Petty Political Gain

Republicans Inflicting Big Pain on Americans for Petty Political Gain This is almost unbelievable (unless if you’ve been paying attention): Legislation to extend unemployment subsidies for hundreds of thousands of Americans who have exhausted their jobless benefits teetered on the edge of collapse on Thursday, as Senate Democrats and Republicans traded bitter accusations about who was to blame for an eight-week impasse. It’s been 24 days since unemployment and health benefits ran out for millions of Americans. Republicans obviously don’t want the Dems to get a win that might help them in November’s elections. But the country sees the issue as a no-brainer – ...

McChrystal was summoned from Afghanistan to a White House meeting where he submitted his resignation over the publication of a lengthy ...

Paul McCartney compares global warming skeptics to Holocaust denier

Sir Paul McCartney just can't let it be. The former Beatle predicted in an interview that the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico might expedite a move to cleaner, renewable energy sources in the world, FOXNews.com reported Thursday. McCartney could have stopped while he was ahead, but he went on to compare people who don't believe in global warming to "those who don't believe there was a Holocaust." "Sadly we need disasters like this to show people," McCartney said in an exclusive interview with The Sun. "Some people don't believe in climate warning -- like those who don't believe there was a Holocaust." McCartney continued, "But the ...

Making It McChrystal Clear

The men the American people admire most extravagantly are the most daring liars; the men they detest most violently are those who try to tell them the truth. ~ H.L. Mencken The war system’s response to Gen. McChrystal’s Rolling Stone interview is instructive. It is a reminder that every Memorial Day should begin by honoring the first victim of every war: truth. But as all wars are grounded in lies – the bloodier the war the more enormous the falsity of its foundation – truth becomes not only a casualty, but the enemy itself. Whether McChrystal’s assessment was correct is not the point: it is the threat to the war racket of having insiders purporting to address ...

The indispensable Michael Kelly, writing in the New York Post (12/8/99, p.41), deplores the silence of the U.S. government in the face of a massive ethnic cleansing currently under way in Kosovo, this time "conducted by the Albanians against their ethnic Serb, Croatian, Roma and Muslim Slavic neighbors". I certainly share Mr Kelly's indignation; but-- excuse me-- who the heck are the Roma? The question is rhetorical: having been given the novels of George Borrow (Lavengro, Romany Rye) to read at an early age, I happen to know that rom means "man" in the Gypsy language. The Roma are the Gypsies. How many other people know this, I cannot guess, but I feel sure it is ...

Stanley McChrystal is not a good man. He is a Dick Cheney man. Cheney put him in charge of JSOC the Joint Special Operations Command which is an assassination squad. It was McChrystal who increased the drone attacks against civilians in Pakisten and Aghanistan despite knowing this would increase resistance against our troops. Gordon Duff from http://www.VeteransToday.com told us that under McChrystal's command that processed Afghan opium is loaded onto Global Hawk Recon drones at secret landing strips in Balochistan Pakistan. The Global Hawk costs the taxpayer 35 million dollars each. It was designed from the U2 spy plane. A second version called Block 20 was soon made which has a 3,00 ...

... does anyone else get the sense that something enormous is going to happen here very, very soon to change life for all of us forever? And not in a good way. LOL I wake up this morning, and granted, not well rested, but I'm skimming through some "news" stuff and op-ed pieces that indicate to me that very few people think that we are in any kind of dire trouble. It's politics as usual with writers bitching about the same exact stuff they were bitching about in the '80s or '90s while suggesting the same "solutions." I also had some conversations over the weekend with varying people, some of whom I thought should understand at least some basic ...
