Scarborough Seriously Not Sure He's Still A Republican
Post Date: 2010-01-19 17:14:42 by James Deffenbach
15 Comments
Joe Scarborough has expressed serious doubts as to his Republican affiliation, and made clear that House GOP whip Eric Cantor "is not my friend." But caution to those who assume Joe has gone left: he has clarified to this NewsBuster that his critique of the GOP comes from the Ron Paul-esque right . . . Scarborough's stunning comments came on today's Morning Joe in response to Dem Bob Shrum's taunting of Joe over his ostensible GOP membership, in the context of Pres. Obama's attempt to rescue Martha Coakley from the rubble of her campaign. BOB SHRUM: The reason your friend Eric Cantor pulled back from -- JOE SCARBOROUGH: Well hold on a second, hold on a second. ...

Robert Fisk’s World: The stakes get higher as Arab princes try to outdo each other Do the Saudis not have the slightest idea of what is going on around them? Saturday, 16 January 2010 * Prince al-Waleed bin Talal of Saudi Arabia is quite a man. He says he doesn't want to be the prime minister of Lebanon – everyone who wants to be the prime minister of Lebanon says that – but he is immensely wealthy. True, his bank balance has sunk from $23.7bn to a mere $13.3bn since 2005 (thus sayeth Forbes magazine). But he's just announced that he wants to construct the world's tallest building – a 1km-high goliath which will dwarf his neighbour emir in Dubai who last ...

Sarah Palin admits questions about Sept. 11 Tags: In her debut as a contributor to Fox News Tuesday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin admitted that leading up to her 2008 vice presidential debate, she thought Iraq may have been behind the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Interviewed by Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly on his show “The O’Reilly Factor,” Palin trashed many of the critical accounts of her candidacy in the new book “Game Change.” But one story from the book that Palin did not say was “made up” or “a lie” was the description of her uncertainty as to whether Iraq had a hand in the planning of the Sept. 11 attacks. “I did ...

Disaster Capitalism Headed to Haiti

Disaster Capitalism Headed to Haiti - by Stephen Lendman In her book, "The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism," Naomi Klein explores the myth of free market democracy, explaining how neoliberalism dominates the world with America its main exponent exploiting security threats, terror attacks, economic meltdowns, competing ideologies, tectonic political or economic shifts, and natural disasters to impose its will everywhere. As a result, wars are waged, social services cut, public ones privatized, and freedom sacrificed when people are too distracted, cowed or in duress to object. Disaster capitalism is triumphant everywhere from post-Soviet Russia to post-apartheid ...

WAS HAITI A TARGETED POPULATION? THE FACT THAT JESSE VENTURA’S CONSPIRACY THEORY TV SHOW IS ON MAINSTREAM MEDIA IS “NOT GOOD NEWS”. IT’S BAD NEWS BECAUSE THE “PSYCHOPATHIC POWERS THAT BE” DON’T CARE WHAT YOU KNOW ANYMORE. THEY NOW HAVE THE POWER AND TECHNOLOGY TO ENSLAVE THE PLANET. WAKE UP NOW! BRAINWASHED BY A TV SET There is a conspiracy to enslave all civilians on the planet in progress. It goes by the names of: the new world order, the military-industrial complex and globalization. Dear Pat Robertson, I know that you know that all press is good press, so I appreciate the shout-out. And you make God look like a big mean bully who kicks people when they are down, so I'm all over that action. But when you say that Haiti has made a pact with me, it is totally humiliating. I may be evil incarnate, but I'm no welcher. The way you put it, making a deal with me leaves folks desperate and impoverished. Sure, in the afterlife, but when I strike bargains with people, they first get something here on earth -- glamour, beauty, talent, wealth, fame, glory, a golden fiddle. Those Haitians have nothing, and I mean nothing. And that was before the earthquake. Haven't you ...

The Big One Devastates Haiti - by Stephen Lendman With all their woes, the last thing Haitians needed was the calamitous earthquake (the most severe in the region in over 200 years) that struck Port-au-Prince, surrounding areas, and other parts of the country on January 12 at about 5PM (2200 GMT), devastating the capital, possibly killing hundreds of thousands, injuring many more, and disrupting the lives of millions of people already overwhelmed by other crushing hardships. An AP report said "journalists found the damage staggering even for a country long accustomed to tragedy and disaster." Many hundreds of thousands lost everything, including loved ones. Tremors were felt ...

Rene Preval, the Haitian president, said 7,000 people had already been buried in a mass grave. Nothing follows.

A buddy of mine sent me a late Christmas Present. It's a book called "Freakanomics". It is by far and away the one of THE best books of all time, in regards to our society, money, and how the collective psyche in this country has become what it is. I can tell you all without a doubt that it changed my perspective on a great many things, and I encourage EVERYONE to read it.

Reid's Racism: Typical Trashing of White America
Post Date: 2010-01-14 10:50:42 by christine

During the presidential campaign, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Barack Obama would be a good candidate because he was "light skinned" and "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one". Since the exposure of his racist comment, Reid has been running around apologizing to every black in America. The elephant in the living room of the controversy that everyone seems to be ignoring is Reid's horrific slap in the face of white America. In essence Reid believes, "most white American voters are racists who will not elect a dark-skinned black man". Reid owes white America an apology and his resignation. This will never happen because democrats and ...

Picking Apart Washington’s Scum

As everyone and his cousin know, the neocons are my least favorite “Washington insiders” and they divide generally into two categories, the ill-mannered, touchy Jews and their groveling or adulatory Christian assistants. David Frum, the Kagan boys, Norman and John Podhoretz, and Michael Ledeen are the house-owners; while Bill Bennett, Fred Barnes, Michael Novak, Cal Thomas, Linda Chavez, and Rich Lowry all live in the servants’ quarters. Although I’ve suffered more at the hands of the Podhoretz-types than from the machinations of their servants, I’ve always felt a grudging admiration for my most vicious enemies. The Jewish neocons leave their finger-marks on ...

Rightwing climate change deniers are all for free speech - when it suits them

Conservatives are no longer allowed to be wrong. As soon as you point out that someone on the right has made misleading claims, you are accused of pursuing a witch-hunt or behaving like the Inquisition. The delicate sensibilities of rightwingers somehow forbid debate: contradict them, point out their mistakes and falsehoods, and you are immediately charged with persecution. This is profoundly ironic, as the very people who make such charges — Melanie Phillips is a good example — spend the rest of their time waging war on political correctness. People should be able to do and say whatever they like, they maintain, regardless of whether it might upset or offend others … until, ...

Bush Gets an A+ in Environmental Protection

I would give the Bush Administration an A+ because they have done an excellent job at protecting the enviroment. Bush’s ranch is more eco friendly then Gore’s mansion. Compare that with George Bush’s home in Crawford, Texas, which was designed by an architectural professor. George Bush’s single-story limestone ranch features 4 bedrooms and is 4,000 square feet. Bush has adopted many eco-friendly measures with his ranch. Rainwater that accumulates upon the roof is funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern, while wasted water from showers, toilets and sinks heads into underground purifying tanks, and then into the cistern afterwards. Water from this cistern can ...
